  • Patent number: 5094153
Abstract: A plurality of carafes on a coffee machine primarily for restaurant and institution use can be filled selectively with decaffeinated or normal coffee via a distributor between a brewing chamber and the outlets to the carafes. The microprocessor controller operates the device selecting the coffee for delivery to the brewing chamber in response to signals received from the carafes if they are placed at respective stations on the machine so that a decaffeinated carafe at any station will receive only decaf and a normal carafe will receive only normal coffee regardless of the station at which it is placed.

  • Patent number: 4955289
Abstract: Tea leaves are steamed out under pressure higher than atmospheric by means of steam generated from the moisture contained in the tea leaves for tea manufacturing. A round disk with a net on the discharge side of a rotary firing pot is horizontally shifted with a guide driven by air pressure or hydraulic cylinder, or vertically moved together with the horizontal shifting mechanism as a body. A raw tea leaves feeding cylinder is inclined from the top of the opening/closing cover to contact the central opening section of the round disk with the net, and the raw tea leaves are easily fed by means of a tilted charging chute. This tilted charging chute facilitates opening and closing of the disk with the net on the discharge side of the rotary firing pot to effectively make it airtight and further to effect the feeding of raw tea leaves.

  • Patent number: 4667586
Abstract: Beverage brewing apparatus suitable for use in a vending machine has a frame supporting a vertically movable open bottom cylinder and a piston slidably disposed within the cylinder. A brewing cavity is disposed beneath the cylinder to enable reciprocation horizontally between a brewing position and a rest position. The horizontal movement of the cavity is controlled through a cable running around a pulley rotatably supported on the frame. The pulley is provided with a mechanism for adjusting the position thereof to determine the brewing position and rest position of the cavity to ensure secure engagement between the cylinder and brewing cavity.

  • Patent number: 4648313
Abstract: A beverage brewing apparatus suitable for use in a vending machine has a frame supporting a vertically movable open-bottom cylinder and a piston slidably disposed within the cylinder. A base assembly is reciprocal horizontally between a brewing position and rest position. Actuation of various components is controlled by a motor through a cam shaft. The downward movement of the piston is controlled by the operation of a cam element, but this operation of the cam applying vertical force to push the piston also applies a horizontal force tending to offset the axial center lines between the piston and cylinder. Therefore means for preventing the piston from lateral horizontal movement relative to the cylinder insures improved sealing between the piston and cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4641572
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for centrifuging liquid from a wet material. The apparatus includes a centrifugal drum and a stripper member positioned adjacent the centrifugal drum. The front side of the centrifugal drum is open and is arranged to be closed by a cover. The stripper is firmly connected to a driving shaft when the centrifugal drum is driven by means of a sliding clutch. A brake is provided for slowing down the centrifugal drum. During the centrifuging procedure, the centrifugal drum and the stripper rotate with the same number of revolutions and the cover is closed. After the centrifuging procedure, the centrifugal drum is slowed down with respect to the stripper and the cover is opened so that the still running stripper removes and ejects the residues.

  • Patent number: 4633771
Abstract: In a coffee percolator having a brewing section, different operating positions are controlled by a control piston driven by a motor by the action of suitable control means. The control piston moves through a coffee meal supply opening and a coffee-grounds flushing opening, both of which are provided in said brewing section, for selectively or contemporaneously opening and closing these openings in the different operating positions. In a brewing position the control piston closes both openings, so that an overpressure is generated within the brewing section. Subsequent to the brewing operation this overpressure is relieved in a relief position by opening the flushing opening while said supply opening remains closed. The relief position is succeeded by a flushing position, in which the supply opening is likewise opened, so that the exhausted coffee-grounds can be flushed out.

  • Patent number: 4612850
Abstract: The brewing apparatus includes a vertically movable cylinder with an open top and bottom, a piston mounted for reciprocation down into such cylinder and a heated liquid supply discharging brewing liquid into the open top of the cylinder. A brewing cavity is horizontally reciprocable beneath the cylinder between a brewing position and a rest position. A ground beverage material supply delivers material into the brewing cavity when the cavity is disposed at a material supplying position located intermediate the brewing position and the rest position. A second heated liquid supply discharges liquid into the brewing cavity while the cavity is disposed at the material supplying position with an electromagnetic valve controlling the second liquid supply operation. The reciprocably mounted piston may be provided with an air pressure release to release compressed air from within the vertically movable cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4572060
Abstract: This invention concerns about an automatic coffee boiler, especially one that can feed automatically a certain amount of coffee powder and boil the coffee powder with a certain quantity of water vapor previously fixed. Its main characteristics is to use two time adjusters in a controlled circuit to respectively set a period of time for activating a coffee feeding device and an electric heater in water tank, and also to use a sequence controlling circuit which can automatically activate in sequence the coffee powder feeder, the heater in the water tank and a music alarm. Through the above-mentioned devices, coffee powder can be automatically fed out and boiled with vapor to become liquid coffee ready for drinking. One of the other specialities of this invention is that an electromagnetic valve set at the outlet of the coffee feeding device is able to act simultaneously with said coffee feeding device.
