  • Patent number: 10327580
Abstract: Provided is a coffee maker where a heated state coffee liquid can be obtained by performing an extraction operation in an extraction unit, and can be sufficiently cooled down to a temperature, to provide tasty iced coffee, and in which a cooled state of the coffee liquid can be maintained. An ice basket is arranged inside a server, and is disposed to receive and disperse the coffee liquid that is dripping from an extraction unit. The ice basket is formed in a vertically elongated shape, and internally includes an ice storage. A liquid feeding hole, which feeds the coffee liquid inside the ice storage to the server, is formed in a peripheral edge portion of a bottom portion. The bottom portion is arranged at a position close to a bottom surface of the server while being separated from the bottom surface.

Abstract: A system and a process for producing cold brew coffee are provided. The system and method include the use of an extraction tank adapted to receive ground coffee beans therein. Water is pumped into the extraction tank. A back pressure control valve is provided so as to pulse the back pressure within the tank. This pulsed back pressure increases turbulence within the tank. Combined with the flow rate and pressure within the tank, the turbulence allows for cold brewed coffee concentrate to be produced in a much quicker time than associated with prior art methods. A number of extraction tanks may be provided in the system of the present invention so as to increase yield.

  • Patent number: 9526368
Abstract: The first embodiment of the disclosure presents a single cup coffee brewer comprised of two components: a dripper component and a drip rate control component. The dripper component has a brewing container with a flat bottom having a drainage part, and a cylindrical tube member that fits inside the brewing container. A single sheet of Number 4 filter paper is wrapped around the cylindrical tube member, fitting snugly against the drainage part, thereby forming a dripper having a flat bottom using standard filter paper. The drip rate control component is attached to the dripper component, and has a lever that controls the drip control rate from zero to a maximum value. The coffee brewer can therefore be used as a dripper with a user controlled drip rate, or as an infuser followed by a dripper where the user controls the drip rate.

  • Patent number: 8464632
Abstract: A cartridge, particularly for espresso coffee machines, for extracting a beverage from a particulate substance contained therein by means of water under pressure is provided. The cartridge comprises a main body with a cup portion and a lid portion. The cup portion comprises a base, a sidewall and a rim opposed to the base, while the lid portion is fixedly attached to the rim of the cup portion so as to define an internal volume of the cartridge. The internal volume of the cartridge houses the particulate substance comprised within filtering means for retaining the particulate substance and for percolating fluid substances therethrough. The lid portion comprises a normally closed lid port defining a first passage for percolation fluid substances when it is opened. The cartridge further comprises a tappet arranged inside the internal volume so as to pierce the base when a pressure is applied to the base towards the internal volume, thus opening a normally closed cup port.

  • Patent number: 8397628
Abstract: A dripless brew basket including a brew basket, having an opening provided through its bottom wall, a vacuum breaker sleeve fixedly mounted thereto, the upper part of the vacuum breaker sleeve having apertures or ports provided therethrough, to allow the brewed beverage to flow into the sleeve and be dispensed from the brew basket, during application. A vacuum breaker cap mounts on to the upper end of the sleeve, to act as a fluid levelers for the brewed beverage provided within the basket, during a brewing operation, and once the brewed beverage has been dispensed through the breaker sleeve, it reaches the bottom level of the sleeve ports, thereby preventing an further discharge of fluid from the brew basket, including the elimination of any drippage, in providing for the dripless brew basket of this invention.

  • Patent number: 8387516
Abstract: A coffee maker contains a siphon tube for discharging hot water from a heated reservoir to a container for coffee grounds. Flow through the siphon tube is initiated by pressurizing the air space in the heated reservoir with an air pump. A siphon flow of hot water through the siphon tube to a coffee grounds container then continues without pressurization. The flow is ended when the desired volume of coffee is brewed.

  • Patent number: 8371211
Abstract: A machine for brewing a beverage such as coffee includes a chamber and a piston disposed in the chamber. The piston is operable to move to a first position to allow the chamber to receive a liquid and a flavor base such as ground coffee, to remain in the first position for a time sufficient for the beverage to brew, and to move to a second position to dispense the beverage by forcing the beverage out of the chamber. By modifying some or all steps of the French press brewing technique, the machine can typically control coffee-brewing parameters with a level of precision that yields brewed coffee having a uniform taste from cup to cup, and can typically brew the coffee with a speed that renders the machine suitable for use by establishments that serve significant amounts of coffee.

  • Publication number: 20120304869
Abstract: A hot beverage maker and dispensing system (10) is provided having an integral beverage reservoir (110) that uses positive air pressure to dispense the brewed beverage from the reservoir (110). The positive air pressure is generated by an electric pump (150) that is energized when an actuator (210) is depressed by a container to be filled with the brewed beverage. The actuator (210) also causes a first valve (42) to pause the beverage during brewing into a brew head (300) from being directed into the reservoir (110). The actuator (210) also causes a second valve (241) in the lid (115) of the reservoir (110) to seal the reservoir (110). Thus, positive air pressure generated by the electric pump (150) forces the beverage in the reservoir (110) through a dispensing outlet (215) into the container. When the actuator (210) is release!, the brewing of the beverage may resume and the beverage may again be directed from the brew head (300) into the reservoir (110).

Abstract: A beverage brewer (10) with a temperature selectable dispense system having an on-demand hot water heating chamber assembly (30) with a hot water chamber body (86) having a volume substantially less than the volume of beverage brewed during a single brew cycle, a heating element (98) to quickly and substantially alter the water temperature in the chamber body during a single brew cycle and a microprocessor controller (38) for controlling the heating element in response to temperature sensors (40, 42). The controller (38) controls the brewer (10) to brew different types of beverages, with dispense water at different preselected temperatures in response to a manually actuatable switch (72, 74, 76 and 78). The temperature of the dispense water may also be changed from a hotter temperature at the beginning of a brew cycle to a lower temperature during an end portion of the same brew cycle.
