  • Patent number: 8397628
Abstract: A dripless brew basket including a brew basket, having an opening provided through its bottom wall, a vacuum breaker sleeve fixedly mounted thereto, the upper part of the vacuum breaker sleeve having apertures or ports provided therethrough, to allow the brewed beverage to flow into the sleeve and be dispensed from the brew basket, during application. A vacuum breaker cap mounts on to the upper end of the sleeve, to act as a fluid levelers for the brewed beverage provided within the basket, during a brewing operation, and once the brewed beverage has been dispensed through the breaker sleeve, it reaches the bottom level of the sleeve ports, thereby preventing an further discharge of fluid from the brew basket, including the elimination of any drippage, in providing for the dripless brew basket of this invention.

  • Patent number: 8387516
Abstract: A coffee maker contains a siphon tube for discharging hot water from a heated reservoir to a container for coffee grounds. Flow through the siphon tube is initiated by pressurizing the air space in the heated reservoir with an air pump. A siphon flow of hot water through the siphon tube to a coffee grounds container then continues without pressurization. The flow is ended when the desired volume of coffee is brewed.

  • Patent number: 8371211
Abstract: A machine for brewing a beverage such as coffee includes a chamber and a piston disposed in the chamber. The piston is operable to move to a first position to allow the chamber to receive a liquid and a flavor base such as ground coffee, to remain in the first position for a time sufficient for the beverage to brew, and to move to a second position to dispense the beverage by forcing the beverage out of the chamber. By modifying some or all steps of the French press brewing technique, the machine can typically control coffee-brewing parameters with a level of precision that yields brewed coffee having a uniform taste from cup to cup, and can typically brew the coffee with a speed that renders the machine suitable for use by establishments that serve significant amounts of coffee.

  • Publication number: 20120304869
Abstract: A hot beverage maker and dispensing system (10) is provided having an integral beverage reservoir (110) that uses positive air pressure to dispense the brewed beverage from the reservoir (110). The positive air pressure is generated by an electric pump (150) that is energized when an actuator (210) is depressed by a container to be filled with the brewed beverage. The actuator (210) also causes a first valve (42) to pause the beverage during brewing into a brew head (300) from being directed into the reservoir (110). The actuator (210) also causes a second valve (241) in the lid (115) of the reservoir (110) to seal the reservoir (110). Thus, positive air pressure generated by the electric pump (150) forces the beverage in the reservoir (110) through a dispensing outlet (215) into the container. When the actuator (210) is release!, the brewing of the beverage may resume and the beverage may again be directed from the brew head (300) into the reservoir (110).

The method comprises selecting using the pad (6) in a first (A) or a second (B) condition of use, and using the pad (6) according to the selection the pad (6) in the first condition of use (A) or in the second condition of use (B). In the first condition of use (A), a fine bubble froth layer is obtained on the beverage. In the second condition of use (B), a beverage is obtained which is at least virtually free of such a fine bubble froth layer.

  • Patent number: 7762180
Abstract: An apparatus for preparing a beverage fit for consumption with a fine-bubble froth layer, in particular cappuccino. The invention provides a beverage unit, which dispenses under pressure a beverage to be processed to a beverage processing path, through which, in use, the beverage flows to obtain the beverage with the fine-bubble froth layer. The beverage processing path successively includes a nozzle and a buffer reservoir, the nozzle being positioned relative to the buffer reservoir such that, in use, it generates a liquid jet squirting into the buffer reservoir to obtain the beverage with the fine-bubble froth layer. The buffer reservoir is provided with an outlet path for discharging the beverage from the buffer reservoir, the liquid flow path, upstream of the nozzle, further including an additive holder which, in use, can be filled with a product to be dissolved in the beverage, such as concentrated milk or milk powder.

Abstract: An embodiment of a machine for brewing a beverage such as coffee includes a chamber and a piston assembly disposed in the chamber. The chamber is operable to receive a liquid such as water and a flavor base such as ground coffee, and to allow the beverage to brew from a mixture of the liquid and the base. The piston assembly is operable to filter a solid such as spent coffee grounds from the brewed beverage by moving in a first direction, and to force the filtered beverage out of the chamber by moving in a second direction. By modifying or automating some or all steps of the French press brewing technique, such a machine may control one or more of the brewing parameters with a level of precision that yields brewed coffee having a uniform taste from cup to cup. Furthermore, such a machine may brew the coffee with a speed that renders the machine suitable for use by establishments that serve significant amounts of coffee.

Thus, the coffee powder/tea leaves inside of the filtration mesh is/are sufficiently infused. The stopper can be pressed upwards to be opened so as to cause the sufficiently infused coffee/tea to drip.
