Abstract: A system is provided for slicing raw, whole potatoes into sticks or strips; sorting the sticks, separating out sticks having black or discolored spots thereon, snipping the ends of the separated sticks and sorting the separated sticks after snipping.

Abstract: An apparatus for extracting the pulp from citrus fruits for the preparation of a fruit drink containing separate juice vesicles or sacs of the pulp comprises a plurality of clamps mounted on the periphery of a rotary drum to hold the halves of the fruits each divided into two across the core, with the cut surfaces exposed, a rotating shaft located opposite to one of the clamps in gripping position and substantially aligned to the core of each clamped half of the fruits for rotation about the common axis, and a nozzle having an opening provided radially with respect to the core of each halved fruit and attached to the end of the rotating shaft, whereby the pulp in the form of separate juice sacs is forced out of the halves by a jet of fluid from the nozzle.

Abstract: An improvement in apparatus suitable for continuous separation of the flesh of fruit from its pits and seeds comprising a rotor 13, a screen 19 opposite the rotor wherein the rotor has radial arms provided with hammer heads 15 for working of the fruit for passage of the flesh through the screen and collection of the pits and skins on the screen. The improvement comprises the screen being rotatably mounted, drive means for the rotor and the screen for driving the rotor and screen at circumferential speeds differing by at least 10%, the hammer heads having striking surfaces inclined so as to form an acute angle with the axis of rotation in the radial projection of the striking surfaces onto the axis, and the rotor and screen being conical and disposed in nested relation. The heads can be so inclined that they advance the fruit along the surface of the screen.
