The first airbag (40) in the inflated state and in a lateral view extends from the bulkhead (24) to the front side of the pedal (10, 12) and laterally encloses the pedal (10, 12) to prevent the foot from bending.

The retaining assembly is adapted to separately engage one of a fork of the tricycle, a fender for the front wheel of the tricycle, and a crank of the tricycle. Additionally, the footrest does not engage the tricycle body extending between the front fork and the rear wheels of the tricycle.
