Abstract: A modular stone stair system using a plurality of modules in the form of stringers, risers, treads and landings in standardized thicknesses and widths. The risers, landings (if any) and treads have different widths dependent upon the width of the stairs desired, with the treads and landing (if any) being of the full width of the stair, and the risers being a modular width such that each tread or landing is underlain by a plurality of risers. Each level of the stair has a plurality of stringers, abutting the back of the tread and riser and running to the back of the stair. The stringers vary in depth depending upon how many steps are to be present, such that each level, except the bottom, overlaps the tread and riser of the next lower level by a fixed amount. The system can easily be assembled by two people, using a shovel, a level, and a ruler, giving the homeowner or contractor the option of choosing threshold heights, widths, and landings with varying depths.
Abstract: Equipment for monitoring an approach area of a moving belt apparatus (1), such as an escalator or a travelling walkway, and for controlling a drive for the belt includes light sensors (12) arranged in handrail entry caps (11) of balustrades (3). Each light sensor (12) has an emitter (15) and a receiver (16) and operates with, for example, infrared beams. The light sensors (12) monitor the access to the moving belt apparatus (1) in a specific region (13) in front of an entry to the belt (2), for example, the region of the threshold plate (14). On stepping into the monitoring region (13) of the light sensor (12), the beams emitted by the emitter (15) are reflected by the person and sensed by the associated receiver (16) to switch on the drive.
Abstract: A portable ramp for use in allowing access for the disabled, in a wheelchair, to enter an automobile, elevated area and the like or for similar entry use by a pet. The ramp is comprised of a platform member having folding legs and a ramp hingedly attached thereto with ramp elements, each having a bevelled end for selective length placement of ramp elements on a ground surface (with other non-used elements being folded or positioned within the elements being used for the ramp). With the ramp elements being foldable into each other and the platform legs being foldable thereinto, the ramp element and platform are foldable into a readily carryable attache configuration.
Abstract: The invention relates to a structure defining a set of stairs for swimming-pool. This structure defining a set of stairs comprises a base; at least one step having a tread; and at least one supporting member supporting and connecting the tread to the base; said base cooperating with the bottom floor of the swimming-pool for positioning said structure on the bottom floor of said swimming-pool to thus prevent motion of said structure in the swimming-pool.
