By Using Information Detectable On The Record Carrier {g11b 27/19} Patents (Class G9B/27.025)

  • Publication number: 20120275283
Abstract: An optical recording carrier including, in a data recording area, a continuous-grooved main track for recording primary data to be stored, and a subtrack for recording control data including parameter data and address information. The control data includes a clock signal needless to be provided by the main track. The subtrack has a narrower full width at half maximum (FWHM) and a shallower depth than the main track. The distance between the main track and the subtrack is not more than half of that between two adjacent main tracks. The main track and the subtrack form a double-spiral pattern. When recording data, a recording spot tracks mostly along the centerline of the main track and reads the control data in the subtrack simultaneously to control the recording process. A method for manufacturing a recordable optical recording carrier compatible with a conventional CD-R is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7733590
Abstract: Optimal synchronization mark/address mark construction. These marks can generally be referred to as sync marks. A novel means is presented by which sync marks can be generated for use within a variety of communication systems including HDD systems. The sync marks generated hereby have a largest possible minimum distance measurement that ensures highly accurate detection of the transition between the data portion and the preamble portion of information that is processed. Various types of distance measurement criteria can be employed, including a Euclidean distance measurement or a Hamming distance measurement, when selecting the sync mark from among a plurality of possible sync marks.

  • Publication number: 20080298188
Abstract: A recording device for recording information at addressable locations on a removable record carrier for storing data. The device comprises monitoring means (31) for monitoring recording of the data by storing recorded data addresses in a memory. Further, the device comprises examining means (32) for retrieving the recorded data based on addresses read from the memory, and for checking the recorded data addresses for presence of special data. This allows for tracking of changes of the special data stored on the record carrier. The device is capable of generating additional data depending on the special data and of recording the additional data on the record carrier without reading all the special data.
