Abstract: Unique herbaceous annual ‘Cannabis sativa’ female plants, having numerous glandular flowers in a congested and elongated inflorescence, hollow stems a characteristic of the fiber-producing strains of ‘Cannabis sativa ssp. sativa’ but absent in strains of ‘Cannabis sativa ssp. indica.’ The plants are intoxicating, characteristic of ‘Cannabis sativa, ssp. indica,’ but absent in subspecies sativa. The new strain has energizing and motivating psychoactive effects as opposed to the lethargy normally associated with ssp. indica and show hypotensive effects. Morphologically, the plants have a few branched hairs on the stem that are not characteristic of the species, but are ordinary in most other respects.
Abstract: ‘NCORNSP-019SCSHLM’ is a moderately-compact to compact, non-twining, upright variety producing many short shoots. It is distinguishable from other cultivars by its yellow green heart shaped leaves that are entire with a cordate base; a compact habit and semi-erect mounding plant architecture. The lime green leaves of this plant, short internodes, and the plant architecture are what makes ‘NCORNSP-019SCSHLM’ unique amongst the current ornamental sweetpotatoes in the marketplace. ‘NCORNSP-019SCSHLM’ also exhibits very good vigor and is very well branched. In greenhouse and field trials, ‘NCORNSP-019SCSHLM’ has been shown to be much less vigorous than Ipomoea batatas ‘Margarita’ and ‘Blackie’ and is suitable for use as a landscape or containerized plant. The production of flowers by ‘NCORNSP-019SCSHLM’ is sporadic under short day conditions.

Abstract: This invention relates to ‘CX-1’, a new and distinct cultivar of sweetpotato, Ipomoea batatas, (L.) Lam. It is a distinct mutant from the sweetpotato variety, ‘Xushu 18’ from China, where other superior mutant cultivars of ‘Xushu 18’ have been registered. ‘CX-1’ is a distinct cultivar with high yield and higher dry matter than ‘Xushu 18’. By combining high levels of carbohydrate (mostly starch and some sugars) with high tonnage of roots per acre, ‘CX-1’ will produce very high levels of ethanol per acre compared to other temperate crops. This type of sweetpotato with its uniquely high dry matter, high starch content, and mealy texture can also be used to produce sweetpotato chips and fries that have significantly less oil than commercially available low dry matter sweetpotato varieties like ‘Beauregard’.
