The red-green variety is distinguished from green watercress varieties, in particular with its red pigmentation ranging from dark purple, dark red to pink leaves and stems; intermediate-sized stem diameter ranging from 3.5 mm to 5.5 mm, which is commercially acceptable for both fresh and cooked consumption; a nutritional antioxidant capacity of at least 2.27 times greater than compared standard U.S. and U.K. green watercress varieties; and expanded harvesting seasons, with suitability to be grown in the United States year-round.
