The electrical network includes at least one converter, at least one drive motor, at least one first phase line for electrical connection of the at least one converter and the at least one drive motor. A magnitude of a current change of a first phase current is determined. A network error in a partial network on the machine side is detected if at least one criterion based on the current change is met. The criterion based on a current change is met when the magnitude of the current change of the first phase current is greater than a predetermined current change threshold.
Abstract: A superstructure module of a front-end section of a vehicle is supported on a chassis and includes a flow guiding device. The front-end section forms a leading, free vehicle end during normal operation of the vehicle. The flow guiding device is mounted on a lower side of the superstructure in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle between the free vehicle end and a leading end of a chassis. The flow guiding device influences air flow that flows during operation of the vehicle along the lower side of the superstructure from the free vehicle end to the chassis section. The flow guiding device via a deflection area confers on the air flow, in the region of a flow separation edge at the leading end of the chassis section, a downwardly directed direction of flow.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling the speed of a turbine engine, the turbine engine being operative to provide power to a primary load. When a decrease in the power requirement of the primary load is detected, at least a portion of the power generated by the turbine engine is redirected to a secondary load, thereby maintaining the speed of the turbine engine below a rated maximum speed. In the example of a turbine-powered train in which the turbine engine provides power to electric traction motors driving the wheels of the train, when a wheel spin is detected, at least a portion of the power generated by the turbine engine is diverted from the respective electric traction motor to rheostats for conversion to heat.
Abstract: A railway positioning system provides an on-board speed measurement device (6) inducing eddy currents in the wayside structure at two spots along the travelling direction, measuring the variations of the magnetic field emitted by the wayside structure and determining position and speed by correlating the 2 measured signals known from U.S. Pat. No. 5,825,177 and a wayside coded tag (1) providing a coding recognisable by the onboard speed measurement device (6). The coded tag (1) consists of a bar (4) with several slots (3) in which metal blocks (2) of different sizes are mounted. The block sizes and positions are selected to represent a coding according to Quadrature Amplitude Modulation.

Abstract: A cross-over switch system for switching a monorail vehicle between two fixed guideway beams is provided. The cross-over switch system includes two articulated beams and a median beam. Each one of the two articulated beams, constructed of a chain of pivotably interconnected segments, and is pivotably connected to a different one of the two parallel fixed guideways. The median beam, which is pivotable in its center, is located at a median distance between the two parallel fixed guideway beams. When in a switching mode, the median beam is pivoted and each segment of each articulated beam is also pivoted so that each one of the articulated beam abuts an opposed end of the median beam.
Abstract: A method for power optimization in a vehicle/train is proposed, using time reserves which are included when planning a schedule, an overall route to be traveled between a starting stop and a destination stop being subdivided into a number of steps. In order to achieve a power-saving travel mode, with the aid of an optimization algorithm, the kinetic energy of the vehicle and the time are used as state variables in a vehicle model. The changes in the state variables are considered with respect to the distance in each step.

Abstract: A rail vehicle having a car body, which is supported on a running gear by a spring device, and a rolling compensation device, which is coupled to the running gear and the car body. The rolling compensation device may be arranged kinematically in parallel to the spring device. The rolling compensation device counteracts rolling motions of the car body toward the outside of the curve about a rolling axis during travel in curves. The rolling compensation device, in order to increase the tilting comfort, is designed to impose, in a first frequency range and under a first transverse deflection of the car body, upon the car body, a first rolling angle about the rolling axis, which corresponds to a current curvature of a current section of track being traveled.
Abstract: An electric system has an electrical energy source connected to an electrical energy sink by at least one feeding line. Each feeding line (8) is in at least one position therealong between said source and said sink provided with an arrangement configured to interrupt arcing in the feeding line would such arcing reach this position. The arrangement has a temperature dependent member which upon an increase of the temperature thereof above a predetermined level activates an irreversible movement of movable means (24) which by this movement cuts off the arc (a) and/or removes hot ionized gases (28) and by that prevents the arcing to continue in the feeding line past the arrangement.
