  • Patent number: 7712160
Abstract: A zipper system for a safety swimming pool cover provides a convenient method of navigating around any vertical obstacles that may be within the pool cover area, when installing the pool cover over the pool. When a vertically extending obstacle, such as an entrance stair hand rail extends above the surface of a swimming pool cover, the swimming pool cover is split in the area of the obstacle, the zipper enables the user to securely navigate around the obstacle without compromising the tight fit of the swimming pool cover. The zipper closes the split area around the obstacle quickly and neatly. The zipper also prevents the entrance of debris into the pool around the split area. The zipper alternatively provides access to a selected area of the pool, such as a spa area. The spa area, when not in use, can be zipped and covered.

  • Patent number: 7707662
Abstract: A cover for a swimming pool includes a flexible sheet of material covering substantially all of an opening into the swimming pool. A split extends within the cover. Zipper elements line edges of the cover along the split to close the split, thereby preventing debris from entering the swimming pool through the split. A locking plate member covers top and bottom sides of the zipper to secure the zipper during the off-season. The locking member includes spaced apart upper and lower plates, forming a slot therebetween, whereby the slot provides clearance for fabric edges of the zipper. A bridge section joins the plates adjacent to a rear side of the locking plate member. A recess is formed in facing surfaces of the lower and upper plates between the bridge section and a front side of the locking plate member, to accommodate the zipper elements therein.

  • Patent number: 7661196
Abstract: An ergonomic, self contained hand-held thread inspection tool is power driven, which uses current draw as a surrogate for torque to initiate automatic reversal and gage withdrawal in case of jamming. The distal end carries the thread gage attached to a motor-driven spindle. A thread depth collar sleeve, adjustable by manual turning, concentrically surrounds the thread gage. When threaded into a blind hole or onto a protruding stud and operated, the distal end of the thread depth collar sleeve comes in contact with a part, pushing it against spring force. This movement is internally sensed, causing an indicator to flash, signaling “test OK”, while automatically reversing the spindle to withdraw the thread gage. If during the forward excursion of the thread gage a torque exceeding the pre-set torque limit is encountered, a buzzer is sounded signaling an over-torque problem and the spindle is simultaneously reversed for automatic gage withdrawal.

  • Patent number: 7644682
Abstract: An elevated feeder or framework holds the round bales of feedstock off the ground while providing a convenient height for the livestock to feed from. The bale feeder is made by rigidly connecting tubular elements, of the same or different diameters together, at any angle, without the use of special fasteners. The elevated feeder holds the bales with the flat ends in a position that is the most convenient for the livestock to consume the feedstock. The elevated feeder keeps the feedstock bales off the ground by supporting the feedstock on an adjustable, flexible mesh bale support, with openings to permit rain and water to drain away from the feedstock. The mesh bale support length is adjusted by moving the mesh support clamping bars closer to or farther away from the ends of the mesh raises or lowers the bale to accommodate the feeding height of the livestock being fed.

  • Patent number: 7632178
Abstract: A fresh air ventilation system in a building having an outside wall exhausts contaminants, such as stale or noxious air, through the outside wall and takes in fresh air. A remote switch sets a mode of operation of the ventilation system. One or more strategically placed air quality sensors are located within the building. The sensors may be connected wirelessly through a multiplexer interconnect system to operationally control the fan of the exhaust system. In response to the detection of a contaminant above a pre-selected level by a sensor, the relay controller for the sensors resets the remote switch for continuous high speed operation to evacuate the contaminants from the building through either special ducts or the conventional air ventilation ducts within the building.

  • Patent number: 7595448
Abstract: A deep truncated cylindrical electrical box with angled molded-in internal mounting brackets on the flat side surface is mounted to the side of a wooden or metal beam. This internal mounting feature is especially of interest in old work to minimize the size of drywall cutout by limiting it to the outer contour of the electrical box. Any device, such as a paddle fan, will be directly supported by an exterior supportive L-bracket, not by the molded box itself. Replacing the L-bracket with a heavy-duty cold rolled steel bar bracket permits fastening between two beams. An alternate embodiment for the electrical box itself supports lighter loads by the electrical box itself.

  • Patent number: 7575214
Abstract: An omnipositional cable-suspension system suspends an inanimate object. A pair of spaced apart holes pass through the object. A first closed cable loop passes through both of the holes and a first hooking point, so that a first cable is movable within the holes. A second closed cable loop passes through both of these holes and to a second hooking point, so that the second cable is also movable within the holes. The inanimate object can be moved from one position to another, while the object remains stable in any position so placed. This omnipositional cable-suspension system enables the suspension of any inanimate object (the “object”) that can be readily moved to any position about its three-dimensional axis without changing the cable-suspension system of the object. The object can be repositioned to any other stationary position as many times as desired.

  • Patent number: 7520485
Abstract: A multi-purpose beach anchor provides a sturdy base for at least one of a small, medium or large sized beach umbrella as well as for an optional table and an optional tubular holder for a fishing rod. The rigidity of the anchor is secured by an integral hand operable slide hammer mechanism for driving the spike element into the sand for an optimal distance straight down. This slide hammer is used by sliding up and down over a tubular support member atop the spike, wherein the spike has an integral strike collar. A few short strokes of the weighted slide hammer element drives the spike into the sand or other terrain. A hand screw is then used to lock the hammer weight to the tubular support and the spike rigidly. An umbrella shaft can then be directly slid over the support tube and locked in place.

  • Patent number: 7516574
Abstract: A vertical garden includes a reservoir containing a nutrient rich liquid. A stack of modular planters are nested together above the reservoir. A vertically extending tubular pipe passes through central openings in the modular planters. The tubular pipe communicates with a manifold within the reservoir. An air pump located outside of the reservoir has an outlet hose terminating in an air inlet port in the manifold. Compressed air flows from the air pump into the manifold and flows up through the pipe to a diffuser plate at the top. Compressed air rises in the vertically extending pipe entraining some of said liquid upward towards the top diffuser plate. Each modular planter has radiating planter ports for growing plants, wherein the planter ports contain plant media. Nutrient rich liquid trickles down from the diffuser plate, intersecting with and soaking the plant media in the planter ports.
