  • Patent number: 4470833
Abstract: A metering arrangement for limiting the advance of the filter media in an automatic roll filter having a timer which periodically energizes a drive motor adapted to draw the media through the filtering zone of the apparatus. The arrangement includes a metering reel which is adapted to rotate in direct proportion to the lineal advance of the filter media, a magnet mounted on the reel which generates a magnetic field limited to a predetermined arc of the periphery of the reel, and a reed switch which is actuated by the magnetic field to signal an electrical circuit to shut off the drive motor after a preselected increment of the filter media has been drawn into the filtering zone of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4468980
Abstract: The invention disclosed comprises twin clutch packs for a power shift transmission to provide two power paths through the power shift transmission and means for combining the drives in a single output drive. This invention relates to a power shift transmission and more particularly to a transmission having twin clutch packs for dividing the drive in separate power paths through the transmission and recombining in a single output drive. The transmission is a countershaft transmission having a common countershaft for the twin drives through the transmission which recombine as the drive is transmitted to the output shaft. With an increase in size and power transmitted through a power shift transmission a greater area of clutch plate surface or brake disc surface is required to transmit the increase in torque. Since the clutches are the greatest problem in transmitting increased power a doubling of the power transmitted through the transmission requires a redesign of the whole transmission.

  • Patent number: 4469208
Abstract: A control mechanism for a differential lock having a control pedal isolated from the operating mechanism for engaging the differential. A platform resiliently mounted on the vehicle allows relative movement between the platform and the chassis. A foot operated control element mounted on the platform extends through the platform to a point adjacent an operating mechanism on the vehicle chassis. The operating mechanism selectively operates the differential lock control valve and in its retracted position completely disengages the operating mechanism. The differential lock valve is maintained by a detent in its actuating position and can be released by operating a brake system having a relay valve in the differential lock valve. When the brake system is operated, the relay valve releases the detent means in the differential lock valve allowing the valve to return to its differential release position and the operating mechanism to return to its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4458776
Abstract: A sealing means on a vehicle cab for force and motion transmitting members between the control levers in the cab and the control devices external of the cab.The force and motion transmitting members or energy transmitting members are connected to the controls and extend through an opening in the corner of one of the cab walls and the floor. A carrier plate having slots receives the cables or wires and a plate having a deformable layer is clamped between the cover plate and the carrier plate to form an airtight seal around the cables or wires thereby closing the opening in the wall and floor and providing an airtight seal and a thermal insulating medium as well as a sound dampening device.

  • Patent number: 4456268
Abstract: A means maintaining compressive force in a seal assembly to assure seal reliability. The valve cover is fastened to the engine head with a shoulder bolt which carries Belleville washers compressively positioned between the bolt head and valve cover. The gasket load and deflection is determined by the compressive force or gasket loading of the Belleville washers on the unthreaded length of the shoulder bolt. The resilience of the Belleville washers maintains a continuous force on the gasket for the life of the sealed assembly.
