  • Patent number: 8205235
Abstract: Systems and methods for representing a tuner device in a content directory service that is implemented in a media server are disclosed. An exemplary method involves representing a tuner as a tuner container. A broadcast channel which is accessible to the tuner is represented as a broadcast item within the tuner container. The exemplary method also involves exposing the broadcast item within the tuner container as an object for browsing by a control point. Information about the broadcast item may be sent to the control point in response to a browse request. A connection may be established with a media renderer for transmission of content from the broadcast channel to the media renderer.

  • Patent number: 8185945
Abstract: An exemplary method involves an SSL server receiving an SSL session request from an SSL client. It is determined whether the SSL client is going to use certificate-based authentication. This may involve identifying a port at which the SSL session request was received. Alternatively, this may involve identifying an IP address at which the SSL session request was received. Alternatively still, this may involve examining authentication information in the SSL session request. If the SSL client is going to use certificate-based authentication, a certificate is requested from the SSL client. If the SSL client is not going to use certificate-based authentication, the certificate is not requested from the SSL client.

  • Patent number: 8182701
Abstract: A feed structure may be used in conjunction with a sedimentation vessel in order to separate solids and liquids, which may be in a slurry, from each other. The feed structure comprises a feed chamber housing a central wall. At least one port is positioned at the base of the chamber. A feedwell that is substantially concentric with the feed chamber is also used. The feed chamber is in communication with the feedwell, wherein slurry flows through the said port to access the feedwell. An outlet is positioned on the feedwell (such as near the bottom of the feedwell). Slurry may flow through the outlet into the sedimentation vessel.

  • Patent number: 8176551
Abstract: A system for detecting an observing program on a computer system is disclosed as including accessing instructions that access observer data. The observer data includes data descriptive of the observer program. The observer program is programmed to observe a user's activities on the computer system and also operates to create data from its observations. The system also includes reading instructions that read memory of the computer system to obtain memory data. Further, the system includes comparing instructions that compare the observer data with memory data read in from memory to determine whether the observer program is present on the computer system. The system may also include generating instructions that generate results from the reading and comparing. The results generated indicate whether the observer program is present on the computer system. In addition, the system includes outputting instructions that obtain the results and provide the results for a user.

  • Patent number: 8166968
Abstract: A conjoined tube within a tube located inside a lower section of a snorkel designed to steer water droplets away from the snorkel diver's breathing path. The lower section of the snorkel has two valves. One is the scupper valve positioned at the lowest point of the inside tube. The scupper valve is a light duty valve or a low resistance one-way watertight passage intended to allow droplets of water to drain into the main reservoir. The outer tube lower section contains a reservoir for holding residual water that travels down to the bottom of the snorkel and is contained therein. During the normal clearing operation, the reservoir can be emptied and water will exit out of the lower section and into the surrounding water.

  • Patent number: 8166177
Abstract: In an exemplary method, a resident agent receives multiple requests from one or more requesting processes for connections to services. The requested services are hosted by a fast service host. The resident agent establishes multiple connections to the one or more requesting processes for the requested services. The resident agent notifies a single instance of a fast service host of the multiple connections. The resident agent facilitates communication between the requested services on the fast service host and the one or more requesting processes. This may involve establishing one or more routing connections to the fast service host, and routing data between the one or more requesting processes and the requested services on the fast service host.

  • Patent number: 8150961
Abstract: Systems and methods for updating distributed network inventory services are disclosed. A network or a portion thereof is scanned to identify at least one computing asset within the scanned portion. A scan file is compiled based on the information obtained. A first inventory service is updated based on the scan file. A second inventory service is identified. The scan file is transmitted to the second inventory service, and the second inventory service is updated based on the scan file. In one embodiment, the inventory services are selectively updated based on specific types of data, such as hardware or software inventory data, within the scan file. In addition, a specialized database management system may be used to enable data gathering techniques specific to inventory data.

  • Patent number: 8149448
Abstract: A method of rapidly creating an image from a document is disclosed. Image data derived from a document is received at an imaging device. It is then determined whether the image data is in an image-ready format that can be directly processed by a marking engine. If the image data is in an image-ready format, it is transmitted to the marking engine to create an image. If it is not in an image-ready format, the image data is converted to a proper format. The image data is transmitted to the marking engine. If the image data is spooled to a nonvolatile storage device, the spooling takes place only after or concurrent with transmission of the image data to the marking engine such that creation of the image is not delayed by this spooling process.

  • Patent number: 8123955
Abstract: A feed system is used in a sedimentation vessel. The feed system includes an inlet for receiving a quantity of feed slurry and an outlet for delivering the feed slurry to a separation zone within the sedimentation vessel. The feed slurry includes a mixture of solids and liquids that are to be separated in a separation zone within the sedimentation vessel. An airlift pump is used to cycle at least a portion of either the separated solids or the separated liquids from the separation zone and return it to the feed system. This returned portion mixes with the feed slurry and may operate to dilute the feed slurry to a concentration for optimal separation. Additionally, feed conditioning chemicals may be mixed into the feed slurry prior to or after the mixing of the feed slurry with the returned portion of the separated products.

  • Patent number: 8112041
Abstract: A method for generating sequences that are nearest to a set of sequences with minimum average cross-correlation is described. Each element of a set of sequences is projected to a nearest constellation point. The set of sequences is converted into a time domain representation. An inverse discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) is performed on the set of sequences. A cubic metric of each sequence of the set of sequences is evaluated. A sequence is removed from the set if the cubic metric exceeds a threshold. A minimum maximum cross-correlation is obtained for the set of sequences.
