  • Patent number: 4253607
Abstract: An adjustable spray rack comprises a winch driven movable carriage mounted on a fixed support post, the carriage having a spray head provided with a pair of downwardly directed spray nozzles separated by a predetermined critical distance, the spray nozzles permitting spray into a load, such as can be carried in an open top truck. Spray of the load, such as rock salt, or the like, can be achieved by the truck load or bucket load, with control of the vertical distance of the spray heads over the load permitting increase or decrease of the pattern of spray in order to accommodate varying sizes of truck boxes.

  • Patent number: 4251198
Abstract: A cutter hub for use in an underwater pelletizer such as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 4,123,207, issued Oct. 31, 1978, which includes a replaceable, double or single edged blade attached to each arm of the hub with a major portion of the length of the blade being attached to and supported by the arm on the hub thereby resulting in less axial deflection with increased cutting pressure, since the rigid hub arm carries the rotational stress without deflection of the critical blade cutting surface. This arrangement produces higher quality pellets, fewer knife adjustments, reduces the radial wear pattern on the pellet die plate, permits the use of thinner, less costly blades and permits the use of single edged or double-edged blade with a useable second side.

  • Patent number: 4251365
Abstract: Liquid is collected and gasified within the same pressure sealed chamber from which it is displaced. The liquid is gasified toward saturation under a high pressure for a limited time by recirculation of the gas through the chamber. Flow control valves establish a closed circuit through which recirculation occurs while the chamber is maintained pressurized as well as to effect displacement of gas saturated liquid from the chamber during spaced intervals of time while the chamber is depressurized.

  • Patent number: 4251485
Abstract: An apparatus for chemically altering and scrubbing the noxious constituents from foundry core manufacturing and arc welding operations comprising an upstanding closed container with a gas washing liquid disposed within the container to a predetermined level. A horizontal baffle is mounted stationarily within the container at an elevation spaced above the level of the gas washing liquid therein and spaced peripheral portions of the baffle are spaced inwardly of the opposing inner surface of the container. A gas drive pipe extends into the container, downwardly past the baffle, and opens downwardly in a central lower portion of the container, below the baffle and near the bottom of the liquid. The container includes a top cover and an outlet duct is provided which opens outwardly of the container through a central portion of the cover. The gases are pumped into the drive pipe to achieve a critical velocity at the exit of the drive pipe of about 2300-20,000 linear feet per minute.

  • Patent number: 4250359
Abstract: A pair of flyweights are mounted on a rotatable shaft and actuate a sleeve which is coaxially disposed on the shaft through a pair of radially extending control arms which are pivotally attached to the sleeve. The flyweights are biased inwardly by a pair of springs mounted on the control arms. On the opposite end of the sleeve is a bearing which provides a physical connection between the rotating sleeve and a non-rotating plate carrying a pair of movable contacts which cooperate with stationary contacts mounted on a stationary housing. The flyweights move outwardly upon rotation of the shaft against the action of the springs and move the sleeve axially along the shaft. The inward bias force of the springs decreases rapidly as the pivot connection of the control arms approaches the pivot connection of the flyweights causing an over center-type of action which results in an abrupt electrical connection between the stationary and the movable contacts.

  • Patent number: 4246739
Abstract: A bifurcated funnel presents small fish in alternating orientation to a canning apparatus. The canning apparatus is moved incrementally forward to receive the oncoming fish by a distance equivalent to the width of that individual fish. A flap is disposed in the funnel and each fish displaces the flap by a distance equivalent to its width. The flap is connected to a ratchet wheel which contains electrical contacts for actuating a plurality of solenoids which determine the position of a stop mechanism for the canning apparatus. The distance of movement of the ratchet wheel is designed in accordance with the size of the apparatus which is to receive the fish. When the ratchet wheel moves its total allotted distance, a set of contacts resets the ratchet wheel and the canning apparatus.
