  • Patent number: 4236290
Abstract: The fan puller is a special purpose tool utilized mainly for removing the fan element from the motor drive shaft of an air conditioning unit. The fan puller has a pair of hinged heads each of which includes a shaft receiving recess formed therein. These recesses are aligned so that the heads may be positioned over a motor shaft. The heads are attached to individual actuation arms which cause the heads to rotate about the hinged coupling thereby forcing one head against the motor body and the other head against one axial face of the fan hub to cause the fan to slide axially off the motor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4236703
Abstract: A guide body having angularly related support surfaces applied to substantially parallel surfaces of a workpiece, supports a pair of pressure distributing jaw elements connected by pin and slot connectors to a handle operated actuating linkage. A plurality of work engaging pins projecting from the pressure pads associated with the jaw elements resist slidable displacement thereof along the work surface as normal clamping pressure is exerted through the pads. The pads are angularly adjusted to the work surfaces to relieve high concentrations of clamping pressure.

  • Patent number: 4236393
Abstract: A continuous tunnel batch washer of modular construction with the number of modules varying depending upon installational requirements and each module including a drum rotatably supported and driven to oscillate in a predetermined manner during the washing cycle and to rotate unidirectionally during transfer of the load from one module to a succeeding module with a unique chute or trough arrangement extending between the modules for transferring the wash load from one module to a next successive module. The drum in each module is roller supported and chain driven from a common shaft with a plurality of independent motors driving the shaft by a belt drive with each module including a reduction gear driven from the shaft and having an output driving the sprocket chain for the oscillatable and rotatable drum. A programmed control device provides continuous control of each batch of articles being laundered as they progress to the successive modules in the machine.

  • Patent number: 4235562
Abstract: An improved procedure is disclosed for reclaiming land as it is surface mined; more particularly, reclamation of mined-out phosphate-containing land is disclosed where strata comprising a sandy component, a phosphate pebble component and a slime component are excavated, and the sandy component and the slime component are returned after extraction of the phosphate pebble component and dewatering by the dewatering system of the present invention. The volume of returned material is equal to or less than the volume of mined material, and the returned material forms a stable and agronomically sound soil. This result is obtained by accelerating dewatering of the slimes component of a specially treated backfill prior to and after deposition in the mined-out pit.

  • Patent number: 4234124
Abstract: A timing mechanism to control the sequential progressive opening of a valve in a gas line leading to a gas fired kiln with the sequential progressive openings taking place at predetermined time intervals until the object being heated in the kiln has matured. Once maturation has taken place, the valve is sequentially progressively closed at predetermined time intervals in order to allow the kiln to cool down slowly. Adjustable controls are provided in order to allow the user to vary the time period between the progressive further opening of the valve and also the degree of opening of the valve to take place at each activation thereof.

  • Patent number: 4232745
Abstract: A double, transverse, parallel tool bar is attached to the three-point hitch of a tractor. A depending shank is welded to each tool bar extension for mounting the rod weeder. Each shank has a forwardly and downwardly extending hard faced chisel tooth and a rearwardly extending skid which controls depth of penetration of the rod weeder. A chain and sprocket drive assembly is connected to the center shank and driven through the PTO of the tractor. The other shanks each have contained therein a bearing having a spare aperture through which a square rod weeder bar is disposed. The outermost shanks each have a strap which is bolted over the ends of the rod weeder bars to hold them in place and provide for easy replacement thereof. A plurality of cleaner bars are disposed 1/16th of an inch behind the high cam position of the rod weeder and fixedly connected between the shanks for both cleaning the rod and providing lateral support for the shanks. An additional bar is mounted in an offset position behind each shank.

  • Patent number: 4233024
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for generating combustible gas from cellulosic fiber material. A gas production chamber contains an inclined support chute having a grate perforated with alternately angled ports for admission of a controlled amount of air through the grate portion for performing first a lifting function and then a propelling function on cellulosic material entering at the top and undergoing progressive destructive to form combustible gases in the chamber. The chamber atmosphere has an oxygen content insufficient for complete combustion. The combustible gases are withdrawn, additional secondary air is blended in the gas, and complete combustion of the blend is effected in a combustion chamber. The heated gases formed are then forced by a recirculation blower to a point of use, such as the interior atmosphere of a lumber drying kiln.

  • Patent number: 4232980
Abstract: A rotary power trowel having a safety clutch, a gyroscopic stabilizing ring, blade pitch control, and an adjustable handle. The safety clutch employs a belt tension adjustment to act as a brake on the drive belt when activated either manually or, in an emergency, automatically by a lever on a handle near the operator. When the rotary trowel goes out of control in an emergency, centrifugal force activates the lever and disengages the driving force and acts to brake the belt in less than one turn of the handle. The gyroscopic stabilizer ring lowers the rotary trowel center of gravity and generates a stabilizing effect. Blade tilting is accomplished through a turning knob located at the end of the adjustable handle, which is adjustable to the height of the operator.
