  • Patent number: 6411065
Abstract: An integrated system for comprehensive control of an electric power generation system utilizes state machine control having particularly defined control states and permitted control state transitions. In this way, accurate, dependable and safe control of the electric power generation system is provided. Several of these control states may be utilized in conjunction with a utility outage ride-through technique that compensates for a utility outage by predictably controlling the system to bring the system off-line and to bring the system back on-line when the utility returns. Furthermore, a line synchronization technique synchronizes the generated power with the power on the grid when coming back on-line. The line synchronization technique limits the rate of synchronization to permit undesired transient voltages.

  • Patent number: 6406017
Abstract: In a recording medium transportation apparatus that transports a recording medium held attracted to a belt by air suction, the recording medium can be transported stably with generation of curling at the side end of the recording medium suppressed. A plurality of suction holes generating suction force by air suction are formed at the belt. A plurality of suction holes extending in one row over the belt running direction form hole rows. Each hole row is set to be located corresponding to the width dimension of a paper sheet of the size of A3, B4, A4, B5 defined by the Japanese Industrial Standard and post card. When a sheet of respective size is placed on the belt, the side end of the width direction is drawn by suction holes.

  • Patent number: 6364462
Abstract: An image recording apparatus includes a heating portion and a granulating portion to generate colorant particles, a charging portion to charge the generated colorant particles, an ejecting portion to intermittently eject the charged colorant particles onto a recording medium in response to an electrical signal corresponding to image data to be recorded, and a transport portion to sequentially transport the colorant particles through these portions. The heating portion heats and evaporates solid or liquid colorant. The evaporated colorant is transported to the granulating portion, cooled, solidified and agglomerated into colorant particles. The colorant particles are transported to the succeeding charging portion, charged there and transported to the ejecting portion. The charged colorant particles are electrically induced toward a recording medium through an ejection hole and ejected onto a recording medium, so that the colorant particles stick and permeates to the medium according to image data.

  • Patent number: 6361580
Abstract: A continuous process for the production of elemental aluminum is described. Aluminum is made from aluminum oxide and a reducing gas such as a light hydrocarbon gas or other reducing gas, for example hydrogen. In the process, a feed stream of the aluminum oxide and the reducing gas is continuously fed into a reaction zone. There the aluminum oxide and reducing gas are reacted at a temperature of about 1500° C. or greater in the reaction zone to provide a continuous product stream of reaction products, which include elemental aluminum. The product stream is continuously quenching after leaving the reaction zone, and the elemental aluminum is separated from the other reaction products.

  • Patent number: 6360070
Abstract: Assuming the photosensitive drum for black as a reference, the phase of the adjacent photosensitive drum for cyan leads by about 60 deg. Similarly, the phase of the photosensitive drum for magenta leads by about 120 deg., and the phase of the photosensitive drum for yellow leads by about 180 deg. The phase of each photosensitive drum is shifted to thereby make it possible to shift the phase of driving unevenness. By shifting the phase, even the distance between adjoining transfer positions corresponding to the image forming stations is set shorter than the circumference of the photosensitive drum, the variation of each photosensitive drum due to driving unevenness with respect to the printing medium passing through the transfer position can be kept congruent with the others.
