  • Patent number: 8191867
Abstract: A system and method for carbonizing a liquid, such as tap water with CO2, are disclosed. The liquid is carbonized inside a pump housing, thereby obviating the need for a separate high-pressure carbonator tank and a separate feed pump. The pump housing has an inlet for receiving in combination the liquid and CO2 at a first pressure, and an outlet for transporting the liquid carbonized with CO2 from the pump housing into an outlet line at a second pressure higher than the first pressure. A constriction is disposed in the outlet line for producing said higher pressure with the pump. The system and method can be employed in closed-loop carbonizing systems in the beverage industry.

  • Patent number: 8188628
Abstract: In order to connect an angle measuring device to a brushless direct-current motor, a coupling is used, the coupling halves (10, 28) of which are each attached to the rotor (46) of the motor and/or the rotor (42) of the angle measuring device. Instead of using a coupling that is rotationally symmetrical at arbitrary angular positions as in the prior art, a coupling is used in which the coupling halves (10, 28) can be connected to one another only in a finite number of relative angular positions. An adjustment must be made before the coupling halves (10, 28) are attached to the respective rotors (46, 52). This allows all subsequent adjustment to be omitted, for example, even for maintenance work.

  • Patent number: 8188807
Abstract: The invention relates to an attenuation element. According to the invention, this attenuation element has two rail pieces (46, 48) and two conducting pieces (50, 52), wherein a rail piece (46, 48) and a conducting piece (50, 52) each are electrically connected in parallel, wherein these rail pieces (46, 48) are spatially disposed in parallel at a distance from each other, and wherein the conducting pieces (50, 52) each are made of electrically highly conductive material, and the rail pieces (46, 48) each are made of an electrically poorly conductive material. In this manner, the high-frequency currents can be substantially attenuated in a rectifier having distributed intermediate voltage circuits without the power loss in the intermediate voltage circuit markedly increasing such that the capacitors (10, 12, 24, 28) of the rectifier having distributed intermediate voltage circuits no longer need to be oversized with regard to an RMS current of the intermediate voltage circuit of this rectifier.

  • Patent number: 8183816
Abstract: In a method for field-oriented operation to zero speed of an encoder-less asynchronous machine, wherein the associated field-oriented regulation device has a monitor with a machine model and rotation-speed adaptation, a model flux and a model current are calculated from a calculated actuating voltage and an adapted rotation speed, from which, in conjunction with a determined machine current, a complex difference is calculated. Also calculated is a model slip rotation speed as a function of the model flux and the model current, which is then scaled. The adapted rotation speed is then superimposed, and the sum is used as the rotation speed actual value which supplied to a rotation-speed regulator. An asynchronous machine without an encoder can therefore be operated to zero speed on a field-oriented basis.

  • Patent number: 8179000
Abstract: A method for operating a photovoltaic system with a plurality of photovoltaic modules and with a DC motor connected to the photovoltaic modules is proposed. The motor shaft of the DC motor is coupled to a generator shaft of a three-phase generator, wherein the three-phase generator can be connected to a power grid. The motor shaft of a second DC motor can also be connected with the generator shaft, and the electric energy produced by the photovoltaic modules is initially only used for driving a single DC motor and is during the subsequent operation divided between those DC motors. A battery is provided which can be connected with the second DC motor instead of the PV system by changing the excitation of the second DC motor such that it's motor voltage corresponds to the open-circuit voltage of the battery.
