  • Patent number: 4624519
Abstract: A drop-wire connector includes a single pivoted cam having insulation-piercing teeth on opposite surfaces thereof and variable-sized passageways for receiving cables to be connected. The insulation-piercing teeth pierce and electrically interconnect the cables disposed within the variable-sized passageways. The cam is pivoted and oriented so as to decrease the size of the variable-sized passageways in response to pull-out forces exerted on either of the cables.

  • Patent number: 4619490
Abstract: A guidance and retention device for terminated connector wafers having a housing and at least one pair of opposed wafer retention members, said members releasably secured to opposed walls of the housing to provide for the guidance and retention of rectangular-shaped connector wafers therebetween. The unique wafer retention members are easily relocated to allow for reorganization of connector wafers and of a wiring array.

  • Patent number: 4615578
Abstract: A mass termination device for terminating a plurality of shielded cables to a connector, the device insuring continuity of the electromagnetic shielding into the connector. The device utilizes a pair of complementary busbar-type grounding members, each having a connector shell contact portion and having a plurality of laterally extending complementary mating semicircular elements, the elements to be clamped onto the shielding braids of cables to be connected so as to substantially surround each individual shielding braid. The device preferably further includes apertures in the semicircular elements of at least one of the busbar-type grounding members. Fusible material is juxtapositioned with respect to the apertures and individual heat-recoverable tubes surround the fusible material and the mating pairs of semicircular elements. A heat-recoverable boot surrounds the pair of busbar-type grounding members, the tubes and the fusible inserts. The grounding members are clamped about cables and the connector shell.

  • Patent number: 4614557
Abstract: An enclosure (1) around a substrate (3) such as a telecommunications cable is made pressure retaining by the provision of re-entrant seals (5), generally V-shaped in cross-section, that are positioned at the region where the enclosure is bonded (4) to the substrate pressure within the enclosure thus tends to open the V rather than put the bond in peel. The re-entrant seals may be cut-to-length in the field and a leak path through the resulting open end (23) avoided by using pressure (P) within the enclosure to close the open end or to balance pressure across it.

  • Patent number: 4611018
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of processing a fluoroelastomer composition. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises formulating a fluoroelastomer composition consisting essentially of about 50-99 weight percent of AFLAS.RTM., about 0-50 weight percent of a polymer filler, about 1-25 weight percent of dimethyl methyl phosphonate, and about 0-15 weight percent of trioctyl phosphate. The method further comprises loading the composition into either a blow molding or extruding apparatus, and then blow molding or extruding, respectively, the composition into a predetermined shape.

  • Patent number: 4610738
Abstract: A splice case for encapsulating a substrate includes first and second containers each of which contain a gel having a cone penetration between 100 and 350 (10.sup.-1 mm) and an ultimate elongation of at least 200%, the gel in each container having an exposed surface, one exposed surface having a cross-sectional area larger than the cross-sectional area of the other exposed surface, the first and second containers being adapted for telescopic engagement.

  • Patent number: 4584238
Abstract: There is disclosed an ultrathin chemically resistant marking system. The system comprises at least one layer of a chemically resistant adhesive film and printed matter which together cooperate to form a marker. The adhesive film is made of a material selected from the group of polymers which adhere to a substrate upon the application of heat and which are resistant to caustic solutions and solvents, such as methylene chloride. The adhesive film has a chemically resistant front and rear surface and an adhesive rear surface for adhering to a substrate. One of the front or rear surfaces contains the printed matter. There is also disclosed a method for producing an ultrathin chemically resistant marking system.
