  • Patent number: 4577464
Abstract: A heat engine. A plurality of body members each having a pressure chamber and a cooling chamber. A valve is mounted in each body member and adapted to connect and disconnect the pressure chamber and cooling chamber. A heat source is mounted in the pressure chamber and a ratchet operated pinion gear is connected to the pressure chamber. A not quite circular cam is mounted to operate the valves. The plurality of body members are mounted inside the cam to rotate about the center point of the cam whereby the pinion gears of the body members are connected to rotate a power output gear when the valve for each body member is in closed, heated position, and the pinion gear in each body member are disconnected from the power output gear when the valve in each body member is in open, cooling position. The heat source may be a radio-isotopic heat element.

  • Patent number: 4553394
Abstract: Spindle drive for a power shaft. A pawl is mounted on the spindle, the spindle being connected to be rotated by stroke action of the pawl. An expansible chamber motor is connected to the pawl to rotate the spindle. The expansible chamber motor contains two different fluids. An electrical resistance wire passes through one of the fluids. A source of electricity is connected to the wire whereby the fluid becomes energized by the electrical resistance wire and thermo expansion inside the motor will rotate the spindle to do physical work.

  • Patent number: 4551595
Abstract: A tape switch has a first insulating cover strip and a second insulating cover strip. A first conductive strip is bonded to the first cover strip and these combined strips have a corrugated wave form at mid-portion where joined. First and second spacer strips run parallel to each other and are mounted between the first and second cover strips. A second conductive strip is bonded to the second cover strip between the first and second spacer strips, whereby when the tape switch is pressed, contact is made between the first and second conductive strips. In a second embodiment the first cover strip has a formed central raised portion to give separation which eliminates need for additional parallel separator stays.

  • Patent number: 4497554
Abstract: In a camera of the flat bed type having a base, the camera being focused by looking at ground glass back viewing screen supported on a frame which is movable for focusing; means are provided to adjust the frame to simultaneously move the frame forward and backwards, sideways and rotatably for focusing the camera, and means are provided to lock the frame in position when the camera is focused. This invention combines four movements for the back of a folding type or flat bed camera. 1. A rising back, 2. shifting from side to side, 3. lateral swing and 4. tilting toward front or back. All these movements are achieved without using a center pivoting point. Doing it in a continuous working procedure, efficiently and with ease of movement with positive locking. The locking of the vertical movement clamping is accomplished on the sliding member and pivoting on the bottom axis. Means are provided for pivoting from either left or right side with its clamping means when camera is in focus.

  • Patent number: 4445862
Abstract: Process of making a post for inserting a false tooth in a vacant space between first and second good teeth having the following steps. Cut first and second small indentations in the sides of each first and second good tooth facing the vacant space. Make a plaster model of the first and second good teeth. Insert wax in the gum saddle between the two existing teeth of the model. Insert pontic having interior and exterior portions, one portion having a first wing and the other portion having a second wing. Apply wax to the first wing so that it extends into the first indentation. Apply wax to the second wing so that it extends into the second indentation. Remove the pontic portions separately with the wax attached to them with the saddle wax adhering to the lingual pontic portion. Cast each pontic portion separately by the lost wax process. Whereby the two castings may be inserted separately in the first and second indentations and fastened together.

  • Patent number: 4375190
Abstract: Paper gripper improvement in a printing press of the type having a frame, a large paper carrying impression cylinder drum mounted on the frame and a plurality of retractable printing stations mounted on the frame and spaced around the drum. Each gripper has a stationary finger and a second finger reciprocatable with respect to the stationary finger. A cam is connected to operate the reciprocatable finger to grip the paper as it is fed onto the drum. To detect a missing paper, an electrical circuit is completed by contact between the stationary finger and the reciprocatable finger in the absence of a paper between them insulating them from each other, whereby the need for photo-cells or other detectors to detect missing papers is eliminated. The inking rollers are driven separately from the drum to facilitate retracting the printing stations in the event of a missing paper.
