  • Patent number: 6934252
Abstract: Methods and systems for using binary searches for variable length network address prefix lookups are disclosed. Variable length prefixes are stored in a network address forwarding table. Each prefix corresponds to an entry in the forwarding table. The entries correspond to nodes in a binary tree. Each entry in the forwarding table includes path information regarding parent nodes of each entry in the binary tree. When a lookup is performed in the routing table, bits in the path information are used to determine the longest parent node prefix that matches the address being searched. The longest parent node prefix corresponds to the longest matching prefix.

  • Patent number: 6914973
Abstract: Methods and systems for improving trunk utilization for calls to ported numbers are disclosed. A method for improving media trunk utilization for calls directed to ported numbers includes receiving a call setup message associated with the call in a communications network and determining whether the call setup message is directed to a ported number. In response to determining that the call is directed to a ported number, called party information is extracted from the call setup message. A lookup is performed in a number portability database using the called party information to locate a routing number for the called party. A media trunk is selected for the call based on the routing number. The call is then routed through a media gateway associated with the media trunk.

  • Patent number: 6911132
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for manipulating droplets. The apparatus is a single-sided electrode design in which all conductive elements are contained on one surface on which droplets are manipulated. An additional surface can be provided parallel with the first surface for the purpose of containing the droplets to be manipulated. Droplets are manipulated by performing electrowetting-based techniques in which electrodes contained on or embedded in the first surface are sequentially energized and de-energized in a controlled manner. The apparatus enables a number of droplet manipulation processes, including merging and mixing two droplets together, splitting a droplet into two or more droplets, sampling a continuous liquid flow by forming from the flow individually controllable droplets, and iterative binary or digital mixing of droplets to obtain a desired mixing ratio.
