  • Patent number: 6959429
Abstract: A software system for creating new data collection applications for processing input data. User information is provided through a series of screen interfaces to a first program portion, which uses a series of templates to construct an information structure. The new application contains no code but only functional information. The information provided by the user is stored in a data dictionary. A second program portion interprets and accesses the information structure created by the first program portion in order to process input data provided by the user. Certain parts/functions of the information structure can be modified, by both the first and second program portions.

  • Patent number: 6931682
Abstract: The pillow comprises four substantially identical fabric sections arranged in registry and secured together around the peripheries thereof. A line of stitching connects the middle two layers, defining a rectangular portion or other configuration, in the center of the pillow. The pillow is filled between the middle two layers from the line of stitching to the peripheral edges of the fabric sections. Filling is also present between the upper fabric section and one of the middle fabric sections, and between the lower fabric layers and the other middle fabric section, resulting in a pillow which has less fill in the center portion thereof.

  • Patent number: 6905468
Abstract: A data collection device obtains three-dimensional ultrasound scan information of a portion of the abdominal aorta. A plurality of transducer elements are arranged to provide overlapping coverage. The data collection device is first positioned over the aorta by an operator; a one-dimensional scan with a Doppler sound generator operating on the blood flow is used to verify proper initial positioning of the device. Three-dimensional scan information is then obtained and converted from plane coordinates into spherical coordinates such that the resulting converted scan line planes are perpendicular to the aorta. The information in each converted scan line plane is then processed to determine the boundaries of the aorta, from which diameter information is then calculated. Diameter measurements over a given region of the aorta can be used to determine and monitor an aneurysm in the aorta.

  • Patent number: 6886290
Abstract: The system includes a capsule member made from a material which is not dissolvable in water but is dissolvable in the digestive fluids of a predator fish. The capsule contains a material which, following ingestion by a predator (game/sport) fish, results in death of the predator fish. A connecting member is secured to the capsule, and is adapted to be secured to a prey (bait) fish such that when the prey fish is released in a body of water, such as a lake, in the vicinity of the predator fish, the predator fish is likely to consume the prey fish along with the capsule and shortly thereafter dies, thereby reducing the number of predator fish relative to the number of prey fish.

  • Patent number: 6884217
Abstract: The system includes a function for generating a plurality of ultrasound scan planes, each separated by a selected angle, to produce a scan cone having an ultrasound scan cone boundary for scanning the bladder, or other organ. The amount, if any, of the scanned bladder which extends beyond the ultrasound scan cone boundary is then determined, as well as the percentage of the bladder within an inner cone boundary relative to that within the ultrasound cone boundary. A signal is provided, specifically illumination of one of four orthogonal arrows in a display, indicating the direction that the transducer should be moved in order to more accurately center the bladder within the ultrasound scan cone boundary. Re-aiming of the transducer is considered necessary when the ratio of the percentages is less than 70%, while if the percentage ratio is greater than 70%, aiming is optional.

  • Patent number: 6854937
Abstract: The dust attachment which is used with a spiral saw power tool includes a first attachment portion which at a rear end has a substantially dust-tight fit with a mounting head portion of the tool. The other (forward) end extends beyond a forward edge of the mounting head portion, but such that the spiral saw bit extends beyond the forward edge of the attachment portion by a distance which is slightly greater than that of the thickness of the workpiece. An attaching member such as a screw secures the dust attachment portion to the tool. An dust exit tube extends from a side surface of the attachment portion and communicates with the interior of the attachment portion. The dust exit tube extends at an angle away from the attachment portion toward the rear end thereof.

  • Patent number: 6827665
Abstract: The system includes at least two power disc elements, each mounted for rotation on a central shaft which is typically fixed. The first power disc element includes a first peripheral gear portion at the rim of the power disc element by which the first power disc element is turned. A first system gear mounted on a first system shaft mates with the first peripheral gear portion with first system shaft being offset from the central shaft. The first power disc element also has a second peripheral gear portion in the vicinity of the rim extending forwardly of the first power disc element. A second power disc element has a plurality of outer drive gears mounted for rotation to a rearwardly facing surface, positioned to mate with the second peripheral gear portion on the first power disc element. A central gear is fixed to the central shaft and mates with the outer drive gears on the second power disc element.

  • Patent number: 6773406
Abstract: The system includes a bladder volume device which determines the volume of urine in the bladder on a non-invasive basis, such as by ultrasound. The device then compares the volume determination, which is made on a regular basis, against previously obtained cystometry information for the patient, which comprises a graph which correlates bladder pressure, specifically detrusor pressure, against volume of urine in the bladder. The graph is used by the system to produce a surrogate bladder pressure for each volume determination made. The system then provides an indication of the surrogate bladder pressure so that the patient can determine when catheterization is desirable.
