  • Patent number: 5178253
Abstract: An apparatus for displacing a conveyor includes a conveyor frame which displaceably supports a conveyor belt. A first mount rigidly supports the conveyor frame as a second mount is affixed to a vehicle; the first mount being pivotably connected to the second mount at a pivot axis. A link member is pivotally connected to the first mount. An extendable device pivotally connect the link member and the second mount, the extendable device axially extends and retracts resulting in displacement of the link member. There are a plurality of extendable devices, at least some of which are located on opposed lateral sides of said pivot axis, each extendable device, when retracted, extends those extendable devices on the opposed lateral side of the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 5174390
Abstract: A cluster drill includes a first plate portion and a second plate portion. The first plate portion extends parallel to the second plate portion and is rigidly affixed to the second plate portion. At least one first and second plate aperture is formed in the first and second plate, respectively. At least one modular retainer unit, to be mounted within the first and second plate apertures, retains a first and second portion of a rock drill apparatus. A cannister affixes the first plate portion relative to the second plate portion. The cannister may be either cylindrical or contain protuberances to accommodate the modular retainer unit. • Patent number: 5168937
Abstract: An apparatus includes a feed cylinder having a first end port and a second end port. A feed cylinder is located within the feed cylinder and is movable in a drive direction in response to fluid pressure applied to the first end port, and is movable in a return direction in response to fluid pressure applied to the second end port. A feed pump selectively displaces fluid between the first and the second end ports. A variable overcenter device controls fluid pressure offset, independent of the feed pump, between the first end port and the second end port. An adjustment device automatically adjusts the variable overcenter device during travel of the feed cylinder in the drive direction to a value corresponding to an amount of force required to displace the feed cylinder in the return direction.

  • Patent number: 5156497
Abstract: A temporary support for a mine roof is mounted on a mobile roof bolter, and includes a main support frame pivotably connected to the bolter, a main support beam and a ground contacting beam, both extending along the same axis in front of the main support frame, and connected to each other and to the main support frame by a scissors pivot joint and a leveling pivot joint, respectively. When the scissors pivot joint opens and closes, the main support beam and ground contact beam raise and lower with respect to each other and with respect to the ground. A cross beam is mounted on the main support beam and transverse to the axis thereof, and raises and lowers in the same plane with respect to the mine face, to contact and support the mine roof.

  • Patent number: 5143162
Abstract: A device for use adjacent to a down-the-hole percussive drillhead, for removing debris from a drillhole, includes a separator for removing water and other matter from the percussive fluid prior to the percussive fluid entering the drillhead. The water and other matter are ejected into the drillhole to remove the debris, and the separator includes a one-way flow valve to prevent backflow of debris and water into the drillhead during periods when the percussive fluid flow ceases.

  • Patent number: 5139093
Abstract: A clutch assembly transmits rotary motion in a percussive apparatus to a drill steel. The clutch assembly includes a first hub having a first cylindrical surface formed thereon. A second hub which is substantially rotationally coupled to the drill steel, has a second cylindrical surface formed thereon. The second cylindrical surface is coaxial with the first cylindrical surface. A wrap spring engages a portion of both the first cylindrical surface and the second cylindrical surface, wherein relative rotary motion between the first hub and the second hub is permitted in a first direction and restricted in a second direction. The wrap spring clutch transmits motion supplied from a rifle bar assembly as well as a plunger bar arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5137395
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a sleeve insertable into a borehole, the borehole having a first diameter. A roof pin is inserted into the sleeve, the roof pin having a second outer diameter which is less than the first diameter. The outer surface has a peripheral dimension prior to insertion of the sleeve into the borehole. The inner or the outer surface contains at least one longitudinally extending yieldable channel portion which is of a lesser sleeve thickness than the remainder of the sleeve, permitting circumferential expansion of the sleeve. Expansion of the sleeve establishes a restraint between the roof pin and the borehole. When the sleeve is expanded within the borehole, continuous peripheral contact is made between the outer surface and the borehole.

  • Patent number: 5107913
Abstract: A wheel for a relatively slow vehicle used in industrial applications and incorporating a solid tire formed of dense elastomer material such as cast polyurethane, having a relatively large radial depth, for example six inches, a relatively large width, for example twelve inches, and a deep slot extending circumferentially around the tire and dividing the tire into sections separated by the slot with the ratio of the depth of the slot to the lateral width of each section being in the range of 0.65 to 1.75. The tire is bonded to the wheel rim and includes sidewalls containing concave surfaces terminating in relatively thin lips bonded to the outer edges of the rim, keeping stress in the edge of the tire relatively low which helps reduce tire failures from beginning in the edges of the tire along the rim edges.
