Patent number: 4669388Abstract: A conveyor includes carriers supported on a carrier track, pushers supported on an adjacent power track, and a work station located along the carrier track. Each carrier is propelled to a pick-up station in advance of the work station by engagement of one of the pushers with a driving dog on the carrier. A carriage, movable between the pick-up station and a discharge station following the work station and having releasable coupling devices adapted to engage carriers at the pick-up and work stations, is reciprocatably driven on forwarding and return movements by a linear motor. On the forwarding carriage movement, carriers at the pick-up and work station are rapidly advanced to the work and discharge station, respectively, and the coupling devices are released prior to the return movement of the carriage. A carrier advanced to the discharge station is re-engaged by one of the pushers of the conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1984Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: Jervis B. Patent number: 4647083Abstract: A separation preventive pipe joint comprises a socket and a spigot inserted into the socket with an annular packing interposed therebetween. An annular gland connected to the socket has an axial packing presser projection and is internally provided wtih an annular receptacle groove. Arcuate engaging segments are incliningly disposed in a circular arrangement within the receptacle groove and retained there by elastic distancing members. The engaging segments are radially inwardly pressed by pressing bolts to engage in the spigot outer periphery. Each engaging the segment elastically deforms in a manner of a Belleville spring in response toseparating movement of the spigot to assume a posture generally perpendicular to the spigot outer periphery so that the engaging element engages in the spigot outer periphery more firmly.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1985Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Kubota, Ltd.Inventor: Takao Hashimoto

Patent number: 4642127Abstract: A method and an apparatus for cooling blast furnace gas for use in a blast furnace gas treating system having incorporated therein a coarse particle removing unit having a dust collecting box. Nozzles extend through the box as arranged circumferentially thereof at a plurality of locations for injecting a cooling fluid into the unit without wetting the inner wall thereof. Since the unit which has a large capacity is used also as a cooling container, a large quantity of cooling fluid can be injected to effectively cool the blast furnace gas even when the gas has a considerably high temperature. The system can be constructed at a low cost without necessitating any additional cooling container.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1985Date of Patent: February 10, 1987Assignees: Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd., Hitachi Shipbuilding & Engineering Company LimitedInventors: Takehiro Ando, Hideo Kimura, Noriyuki Oda, Takeji Asai, Ken Mochizuki, Toshihisa Fujihara, Katsuji Maeda

Patent number: 4640196Abstract: A track member for supporting the wheels of conveyor trolleys connected to a chain comprises first and second trackways arranged in vertically spaced, oppositely facing relation, each trackway having a pair of track surfaces spaced apart by a vertical web. The web of one trackway is longer than the other so that the first trackway is adapted to support trolley wheels of one diameter and the second trackway trolley wheels of another diameter. Various track constructions for overhead and floor type conveyors are obtainable by mounting pairs of the track members in transversely spaced parallel relation with either the first or second trackway of one member aligned with and facing the corresponding trackway of the other. In each of these track constructions the vertical webs of the non-facing trackways form parallel surfaces of a channel which laterally encloses and contains the chain.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1984Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Jervis B. Patent number: 4615634Abstract: A coating roller device which rotatably supports on a supporting shaft a tubular cylindrical coating roller body provided with delivery holes for a coating material through its circumferential wall, and which is adapted to feed a coating material to the roller body, incorporates within the roller body a scraper means extending substantially the whole length of the roller body, and having a scraping element fixed on the supporting shaft and approximating the inner circumferential surface of the roller body. The roller body is rotatable relatively to the scraper means. When the roller body is brought into contact with a surface and is moved therealong by using the supporting shaft, the roller body rotates relatively to the scraper means, whereby the coating material fed into the roller body is scraped off the inner surface thereof through the delivery holes in the circumferential wall of the roller body by the scraping element of the scraper means.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1984Date of Patent: October 7, 1986Assignee: Kimura-Shin Co., Ltd.Inventor: Keiichiro Matsuda

Patent number: 4601877Abstract: A green compact (17) preheated to a predetermined temperature in a heating furnace (16) is inserted into a container comprising a press table (20) and a hollow cylinder (25), and molten glass (33) is then placed into the container. The green compact (17) is uniformly pressed by a press rod (29) through the molten glass (33). The molten glass (33) is cooled by a coolant flowing through channels (22) and (26) formed in the press table (20) and the cylinder (25), whereby a solidified shell (34) is formed at the outer peripheral portion of the mass of glass. Finally, the shell (34) is taken out from the container, and the molten portion of glass (33) is transferred into a ladle (31) through a grating (30), leaving the compressed sintered product on the grating (30).Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1985Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Assignee: Hitachi Zosen CorporationInventors: Tadaomi Fujii, Koji Kitazawa, Yutaka Tomono, Tomio Takagi, Josuke Kawachi

Patent number: 4584944Abstract: A conveyor system in which loads supported by forwardly driven carriers of an overhead power and free conveyor are automatically transferred to a second conveyor arranged below the overhead conveyor at a transfer zone and driven at the same forward speed. The vertical spacing between the overhead and second conveyors is decreased from a greater spacing at which a load is engaged and supported by downwardly extending structure of a carrier to a lesser spacing at which the load is disengaged from the carrier structure and is supported by the second conveyor. As the disengaged carrier and load move forwardly in unison on their respective overhead and second conveyors, the carrier is engaged and moved by a transfer conveyor obliquely to the second conveyor at an increased speed such that the carrier continues to move forwardly in unison with the load while simultaneously moving laterally out of alignment therewith.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1984Date of Patent: April 29, 1986Assignee: Jervis B. Patent number: 4574706Abstract: A conveyor has vertically spaced carrier and power tracks respectively supporting carriers and primary pushers, each carrier being propellable by a driving dog movable between retracted and extended positions and drivingly engageable only in the extended position by one of the primary pushers. Carriers are also advanceable along a portion of the carrier track from engagement of their driving dogs by secondary pushers movably connected to a reciprocatable transfer member supported alongside of the power track and driven on forward and return strokes by a linear motor. When operational, the secondary pushers are moved to a driving position, each driving dog engaged by a secondary pusher is held thereby in retracted position, and carriers are advanced by a forward stroke of the transfer member. When non-operational, the secondary pushers remain in a non-driving position, the driving dogs remain in extended position, and carriers are propelled by the primary pushers.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1984Date of Patent: March 11, 1986Assignee: Jervis B.
