  • Patent number: 5546987
Abstract: A solenoid valve includes a diaphragm assembly which isolates the fluid being controled by the valve from the solenoid coil and the armature. The diaphragm assembly includes integrally formed poppet members and sealing rings which prevent misalignment of component parts. Force is applied by the armature on the diaphragm via a force ball which provides a central force and eliminates misalignment. In an alternative embodiment the force ball is eliminated and the diaphragm assembly is connected directly to the armature.

  • Patent number: 5524326
Abstract: A game is disclosed wherein a pet and its owner can interest through play with a remotely controlled toy system. The system includes a mechanically movable toy animal, a control box separate from the toy animal and, optionally, an enclosure structure sufficiently large for surrounding the toy animal. In the game method, a pet, such a household cat, chases the remotely controlled toy animal which may be in the shape of a rodent. Besides evasive movements, the toy animal can evade capture by the cat through entry into the enclosure structure. Both the human operator of the toy animal and the pet can create a new friendship by joint participation in this game.

  • Patent number: 5501208
Abstract: An improved archery bow limb fabricated by inserting a moldable slug having a plurality of longitudinally oriented resin impregnated glass fiber filaments into a bow limb profiling compression mold. The mold includes a female cavity mold and a male mold. The female mold having a raised portion defining a limb tip slot area so that when the mold is closed a depressed tip impression is formed in the slug. The raised portion may include peripherally thereabout, reinforcing filaments for strengthening the slot edge defined by the periphery. After the slug has been cured, the material remaining in the base of the depression is removed thereby providing a bow limb having a pair of forks for supporting an eccentric therebetween. The resulting bow limb being fabricated with a reduced amount of severed longitudinal filaments.

  • Patent number: 5454900
Abstract: An apparatus for removing both plastic leaded chip carrier and small outline package electronic components from carrier tapes includes a platform which supports the carrier tape and a drum which receives the cover tape which is peeled away from the carrier tape thereby releasing the electronic components. The electronic components slide under the influence of gravity along an adjustable guide into a collecting tube which has been clamped to the adjustable guide. The adjustable guide is capable of a position substantially perpendicular to the platform and a position substantially parallel to the platform thereby facilitating detaping of both plastic leaded chip carrier components and small outline package components.

  • Patent number: 5433244
Abstract: A solenoid control valve includes a solenoid housing which encloses a solenoid and an armature which is actuated by the solinoid in order to control the flow of fluid through the valve. contact spring makes continuous electrical contact with the armature and the armature is electrically insulated from the valve except when the solenoid brings the armature into contact with a stop portion which is integrally formed in the body of the valve. Contact between the armature and the stop completes an electrical circuit between the spring contact, the armature and the valve body, thereby providing a precise electrical indication of the mechanical state of the valve without any degradation due to hysteresis or mechanical losses.

  • Patent number: 5423741
Abstract: A device is provided for controlling flow and pressure of a gas for insufflating the abdomen during laparoscopic surgery. Compressed gas from a tank passes through the device and is stepped down through multiple stages to a pressure under 25 psi. The resultant average pressure is then reduced to a desired pressure by passing the gas through a solenoid valve and manifold in a pulsating manner. Pressure and flow are constantly monitored with signals being sent to a microprocessor which adjusts the pulse width of the gas supply to compensate for any changes in pressure.

  • Patent number: 5374188
Abstract: An electro-surgical instrument and method is described for exposing gingival areas in preparation for a dental implant. The instrument includes an elongated handle, a leg extending perpendicular to the handle adjoined therewith, and a circular cutting loop. The loop is defined by a plane perpendicular to the leg and tangentially attached thereto along a circumference of the loop. The loop is formed of a unitary electrically conductive wire such as tungsten, and extends into the leg and at least partially into the handle. A high frequency current is passed through the wire into the loop to best activate the latter for cutting the gingival areas.

  • Patent number: 5368006
Abstract: A cam is eccentrically journaled at one end of a compound archery bow and a pulley is journaled at the other end of the bow. A cable passes around the pulley to form a bowstring section and a second cable section, both sections forming a dual feed single cam compound bow. The amount of feed out to both ends of the bowstring is approximately the same. One embodiment of the cam provides a large radius cam groove and a smaller radius cam groove which are designed to synchronize the rate of cable feed out at both ends of the bowstring section during the drawing operation. An anchor cable is provided to tie the two limbs of the bow together during the flexing of the bow.

  • Patent number: 5335604
Abstract: A folding table is described with a tablet and supporting frame. The frame includes an outer and inner pair of legs as well as a U-shaped link bar. The outer legs are directly attached by a connector to the underside of the tablet. The inner legs are pivotally joined to the outer ones and further are pivotally joined to the U-shaped link bar. In turn, free ends of the link bar are pivotally attached to the underside of the tablet through an L-shaped bracket. A stop device in the form of a brace with leg extending orthogonally outward is attached onto the link bar to brace the latter against the inner legs when the table is in the open upright position. Each of the legs have upper and lower portions, these portions being bent at an obtuse angle relative to one another. When the table is completely folded, the upper portions of the legs are oriented parallel to one another while the lower ones are oriented away from one another.

  • Patent number: 5275438
Abstract: An article is provided for the filing and storage together of a computer disc with related paper sheets. The article includes a folder for the sheets and a storage pocket for the computer disc. The storage pocket will be of smaller dimension than the folder and attached to a front surface of the folder. The pocket will have a rear wall, front wall and cover flap, the latter preferably being formed unitarily with the rear wall. A plastic strip attached across an open mouth of the pocket serves as a latching device for retaining the flap in a covering position over the mouth. Preferably the entire article will be of a transparent plastic so as to allow viewing of any contents within either the folder or pocket.

  • Patent number: 5254121
Abstract: A method and device is described for removing concretions such as calculus stones within human ducts such as the ureter or kidney. The device includes a flexible probe insertable through the human duct so that a tip thereof is juxtaposed against the concretion. The probe includes a positive electrode extending coaxially within the conduit and embedded in a solid electrically insulative material. A negative electrode is coextensive with and outwardly encircles the positive electrode. The solid electrically insulative material stops short by a distance R from the end of the probe, thereby leaving a recess without solid insulation between negative and positive electrodes at the tip end of the probe. The recess achieves a more efficient fragmentation of target calculi at lower energy, with less human tissue damage and increase in useful probe life.

  • Patent number: 5249222
Abstract: A special host routing code is transmitted from the remote switch to a host switch which advises the host switch whether the call is to be made to a subscriber local to the host switch or to a remote subscriber via an external telephone system trunk connected to the host switch. In the set up of a call, two steps are executed in addition to those of a normal switch-to-switch communication which functions to set up a path from the remote switch through, or to the host switch. These steps are the outpulsing of a host routing code from the remote switch over a specified trunk to the host switch and waiting for an acknowledgement, such as a wink (temporary line open or close condition). This causes the host switch to set up a cut-through path through the host switch, allowing the remote switch to tandem through the host switch. The digits dialed by subscribers on both switches to affect similar types of calls are therefore similar, and similar types of switches can be used for the remote and host switches.
