Abstract: A manually operated trigger sprayer has an integral plastic spring and pump piston rod that are connected by a breakable connection, whereby the spring and piston rod can be assembled to the trigger sprayer as one piece and are subsequently broken into two separate pieces in response to their assembly to the trigger sprayer, or subsequent manual operation of the trigger sprayer.

Abstract: A packaging blank includes a first panel and a second panel. The first panel defines at least one blister aperture and at least one tool portion. The second panel defines at least one tab strip and at least one tool access portion. The at least one tab strip is at least partially severable from the packaging blank. The at least one tool access portion is substantially completely severable from the packaging blank. The first panel and the second panel are configured to be positioned relative to one another in a face contacting arrangement such that a first portion of a given tool portion is to be operably aligned with a corresponding tool access portion. As such, the first portion of the given tool portion thereby is capable of being accessed by a tool via the corresponding tool access portion.

Abstract: A carton (130) for packaging cylindrical articles, the carton (130) including a plurality of primary panels (120, 122, 124, 125) for forming the walls of the carton (130), end flaps (118a, 118b, 126a, 126b, 128a, 128b, 119a, 119b) for forming end closure structures (132, 134) of the carton (130), and handle panels (160, 162) and handle end flaps (182a, 182b, 183a, 183b) for forming a handle structure (160/162). The handle structure (160/162) and a panel (125) define a pocket that can be engaged by a user's hand (H1) to carry the carton (130). Abstract: A system including a bound component comprising a plurality of sheets of paper and a binding mechanism binding the plurality of sheets of paper together. The system further includes a divider configured to be directly releasably coupled to the binding mechanism such that the divider can be positioned between adjacent ones of the sheets of paper. The divider is made of a polymer material. The system further includes a permanent writing instrument configured to dispense permanent markings on the divider when the divider is written upon by the writing instrument. The system further includes an erasing means for erasing permanent markings from the divider.

Abstract: This invention relates to bituminous compositions and methods of producing the same. More particularly, the invention relates to the production of bituminous compositions formulated with performance-graded bitumen-containing solvent-free bitumen emulsions which exhibit controllable, temperature-dependent interfacial rheology. When employed in paving applications, these bituminous compositions develop adhesive strength and load-bearing strength properties at rates comparable to traditional hot mix paving compositions and at rates faster than traditional cold mix paving compositions.

Abstract: A system for opening encased articles has a cutting apparatus that includes a channel formed from spaced-apart parallel walls. A cutting member having a cutting edge extends from one wall into the channel. A protrusion disposed in the channel at least partially overlaps and at least partially obstructs the cutting member. The channel is adapted for receiving the flanged edge of the article and the protrusion is displaceable to expose the cutting edge of the cutting member. A system further has the cutting apparatus juxtaposed with a container for storing at least one encased article.

Abstract: A spout valve assembly, for a pump dispenser including a discharge head, is located within an opening in the discharge head for permitting outletting of liquid product and includes a spout valve retained within the discharge head opening by a retainer. The spout valve includes a slit at a first end thereof and an orifice at a second opposite end thereof. The slit includes slit lips directly engageable with and disengageable from each other to respectively define slit closed and opened configurations. The spout valve is made of a material for permitting opening of the slit under pressure from the liquid product for thereby allowing the liquid product to be discharged out through the slit when in the slit opened configuration, and for otherwise permitting closing of the slit to prevent the liquid product from being discharged through the slit when in the slit closed configuration.

Abstract: A device for dispensing a fluid or pasty product includes a dispensing member fixed to a container including a neck and a cap, about the dispensing member, wherein the neck includes a ramp and an edge of the cap includes a ramp, the ramps being mutually mobile in rotation between a dispensing position wherein the dispensing member can be actuated and a locking position wherein the ramps prevent the dispensing member from being actuated.

Abstract: A carton for packaging articles can be carried and unloaded in an upright condition. The carton is formed as an elongated tubular structure with opposed open ends. An end wall partially closes the first open end. At least one edge of the end wall is free from the tubular structure so as to define an open region therebetween that facilitates grasping the end wall for removal of the end wall to reveal the articles for dispensing. A handle formed from at least one aperture is positioned proximate to the detachable end wall to facilitate carrying of the carton in an upright condition with the dispensing end up. An end flap is hingedly connected to the tubular structure includes a second aperture that is reinforcingly aligned with the first aperture.

Abstract: A dispenser for use with a liquid product including beads which are rupturable to release additives when rubbed between the hands of a user. The dispenser includes a discharge head reciprocable between pressure and return strokes, and a valve assembly for respectively allowing and preventing liquid product from being discharged during the pressure and return strokes. The valve assembly includes ribs for guiding movement of a check valve disposable in respective valve open and closed positions in which the check valve is disposed out of and in contact with a valve seat. The valve assembly includes primary fluid passages for permitting passage of the liquid and beads into a pump cylinder, and secondary fluid passages for permitting displacement of the beads during translation of the check valve between the valve open to the valve closed positions for thereby preventing accumulation of beads between the check valve and its valve seat.

Abstract: A package includes a slide card that is received in an outer sleeve having a false end wall. The false end wall extends between a top wall and a bottom wall to enhance the structural integrity of the outer sleeve. The false end wall provides child resistance in that it prevents a user from manipulating the outer sleeve to inadvertently disengage a locking feature that lockably retains a slide card in the outer sleeve. The false end wall also prevents a user from accessing the slide card through an opening that is created by removing an end wall.

Abstract: A packaging machine includes an article conveyor for transporting articles in a flow direction and a plunger assembly for displacing articles from the article conveyor. The plunger assembly is supported and positioned by a system that includes a frame assembly and a pressure sensitive coupling as means for releasably fixing the position of the plunger assembly. The frame assembly includes a first frame structure that is attached to the plunger assembly and a second frame structure. The first frame structure and the second frame structure are slidably coupled to one another such that a resistive force that overcomes the holding power of the pressure sensitive coupling will cause the first frame structure to slide and translate the plunger assembly out of its operating position in which it can displace the articles.

Abstract: The present invention relates to bituminous compositions suitable for use in paving applications containing bitumen emulsion of performance-grade bitumen that is substantially free of volatile solvents and made by controlling temperature-dependent interfacial rheology through the use of selected emulsifiers. The invention bituminous paving compositions are suitable for the construction of load-bearing pavements with improved compaction to densities similar or superior to those achieved in the conventional hot mix bituminous paving compositions. Cure rate of the invention bituminous compositions is higher than those of cold mix bitumen emulsion-based paving compositions, and at least equal to those of hot mix bituminous paving compositions. Additionally, the invention bituminous compositions develop adhesive strength and load-bearing strength properties at rates comparable to those of hot mix bituminous paving compositions, and at rates faster than those of cold mix bituminous paving compositions.

Abstract: A dual notebook including a sheet of backing material, a first set of papers bound to the backing material and having a thickness, and a second set of papers bound to the backing material and having a thickness. The backing material is configured to be folded into a folded position wherein the folded backing material is positioned between the first and second set of papers in a thickness direction of the notebook. The backing material is movable to a flat position wherein the backing material is generally flat, and wherein when the backing material is in the flat position the first and second sets of papers are spaced apart by a distance less than the combined thickness of the first and second sets of papers.
