  • Patent number: 8223964
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for authenticating microparticle marks or marks including other three-dimensional objects. The authentication utilizes two or more sets of information captured or acquired for the mark in response to illumination of the mark by electromagnetic energy such as in the visible frequency range. These sets of information are then used to verify that the mark includes three-dimensional objects such as microparticles. The two or more sets of information about the mark preferably vary from each other in time, space/directionality, color, frequency or any combinations thereof, and can be captured or acquired as part of one, two, or more images of the microparticle mark.

  • Patent number: 8220856
Abstract: A mechanism for rotating a vehicle seat body and a mechanism for restraining rotation of the seat body are partially shared, reducing the number of parts. The seat includes a seat body, a seat rotation mechanism, a gear forming member having a rotation gear, a drive gear meshable with the rotation gear, and an actuator for rotating the drive gear. The seat further includes a moving mechanism that relatively moves the drive gear and the gear forming member in a direction of a rotation restraint position such that the drive gear is placed in such a position so as to interfere with the gear forming member when the seat body rotates to a first position and when the seat body is urged to rotate in a direction of a second position while the drive gear is in such a position so as to not mesh with the rotation gear.

  • Patent number: 8224050
Abstract: A method for creating or calculating panoramic images of the eye fundus particularly from images of a fundus camera. In the method a pre-positioning process is carried out in which a first variable is determined for geometrically associating the images with each other. An anchor image is determined as a reference for the first variables for the geometric association; areas that are associated with each other are determined in the anchor image and the other images by a block-matching algorithm; transformation parameters for a geometric transformation between the anchor image and the other images are determined from the mutual position of the associated areas; and the other images are transformed onto the anchor image by transformation parameters and are superimposed onto the anchor image and among each other.

  • Patent number: 8221345
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a pump configured to deliver insulin, an input configured to receive blood glucose data, a user interface, and a controller communicatively coupled to the pump, the input, and the user interface. The controller includes a blood glucose data module to compare the blood glucose data to a target blood glucose level for an insulin pump user. The controller is configured to present a question related to the blood glucose level via the user interface when the blood glucose level is different than the target blood glucose level, receive a response to the question via the user interface, and present a recommended user action based at least in part on the response. Other devices, systems, and methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8214241
Abstract: A web-based system and method allows customers to remotely check-in to a wait list for a service from a business. A website is provided through which an address submitted by the customer can be received. Multiple locations of the business in the vicinity of the address and wait times for the service at each location can then be geographically displayed. A selection of a location at which to receive the service can be received and the customer can then be placed on a waiting list for the selected location. The multiple locations can be displayed on a map showing the relative proximity of the address and the locations. The wait times can be calculated using historical data related to the performance of the service at each location, such as the amount of time that employees at the location have taken to perform the service in the past.
