Abstract: A lift truck having horizontal arms straddling the kettle it is to lift, carry, and tilt. On the outer end of each arm is a tilting unit, one being a drive unit, and on the other an idler unit. These units grip the handles of the kettle. They are symmetrical, but otherwise identical. Each includes a swinging pendant latch, which yields on engaging the kettle handle, and then swings back into latching position. The units in the arms have interengaging elements preventing sliding of the kettle when it is in tilted position. Two sets of proximity switches are included for shutting off the tilting driving motor when the movable parts of the gripping units are not in safe position.
Abstract: A tubular handle, a tubular main loop and a tubular connector piece together form a continuous loop threaded through the handle. A tubular slide lock is fitted over a mid-section of the main loop which is fitted together to form a double strand. All of the foregoing parts are of flexible plastic. In one form, the handle, and the continuous loop are all segments cut from a continuous aggregate source, and in a second form, the slide lock is also a segment cut from a continuous aggregate source.
Abstract: A main pump unit which includes a main pump and a standby pump in a tank is placed on the basement floor, not in a sump. The tank is sealed with the floor level drain, preventing reverse sewer water from flowing onto the floor. The pump (main) turns on before the sewer water from overflowing the appliances, such as toilet and bathtub. The system includes an arrangement for using the customary fresh water supply for testing the pump. It also includes means for ventilating the tank to the exterior.
Abstract: A one-piece, integral device made up of linear rods and having a basket portion and a hook portion, the latter for mounting it on a step ladder. The basket holds an ordinary tool box. Also the basket portion has side hooks for mounting extra tools and instrumentalities.
Abstract: A brush holder having a back panel for holding the brushes in spread position, and a trough in front at the bottom for holding related items. The entire back panel and trough are integral, and made of steel. Support hooks with transparent suction cups are mounted on the back panel.
Abstract: A self-contained compartment used in a construction site. It is all-steel, and it includes vertical lifting plates forming hooks welded to the frame of the compartment for insertion of the bucket of a construction machinery piece for carrying it.
Abstract: A back plate and a pair of transversely spaced vertical side plates extending forwardly therefrom. A first of the side plates is rigid with the back plate, and the second side plate is pivotal on a forwardly extending horizontal axis. A spindle is secured at one end to the forward end of the second side plate, with a free end extended therefrom. The second side plate is movable between a closed position in which the spindle extends into close proximity to the first side plate, and an open position in which the extended end is directed upwardly, free of the first side plate for enabling placement of a paper roll on the spindle.
Abstract: A rectangular frame made up entirely of tubes and tubular connectors, and glue securing them together. The tubes are self-biased to straight shape, thus self-biasing the frame to a position lying in a common plane. The frame includes end members made up of longitudinally spaced elements, and the frame may have selectively two, or three longitudinal members.
Abstract: In a first form, a drive sprocket is driven constantly in a forward direction. It is mounted on a central main shaft. A pair of mutually opposed one-way clutches each have a driving part on the shaft and a driven part on the sprocket, and in pedaling in either of opposite directions, the corresponding clutch becomes active and drives the sprocket in corresponding direction which is the same forward direction. In a second form, there is a direct drive unit, and a reverse drive unit, respectively driving the sprocket in its same forward direction.
Abstract: The device includes a step and a handle as separate units. The step is made of two steel rods welded together, and having a threaded screw at one end to be driven into a tree. The user detachably attaches the handle to the step, and by swinging the handle, thrusts or throws the step against the tree, starting the screw into the tree, and then turns the handle to drive the step entirely into fully secured position into the tree. The user then detaches the handle from the step and repeats the maneuver with additional steps.
Abstract: A soft member constituting the main portion, and a rigid member. The soft member has a loop rib integral therewith, and the rigid member has a loop base element almost entirely embedded in the rib. The base element has load pads spaced therealong for lockingly engaging the panel in which the grommet is positioned.
Abstract: A pair of steel counterpart pieces, of steel, each being integral, and including a backing element, a side blade element, and a hook element. The side elements are on opposite side edges respectively of the backing elements. The pieces are mounted on frame members to be connected that have flat surfaces that interengage. Upon camming action between the pieces of the connector the frame members are brought toward each other with their flat surfaces interengaging.
Abstract: A main panel of aluminum shaped to the hand, with side tab segments for bending over the wrist and the main part of the hand and over the ends of the fingers. It includes layers of sponge material glued to both of opposite faces of the aluminum layer.
Abstract: A board that has markings for placement of teams in tournament style. Teams are identified by chips bearing the names of the teams. Dice are provided for rolling to determine wins, and rates of advancement. Also cards are provided with instructions, for adding or subtracting score points. The dice are of different kinds, having different numbers of sides having numerals and blanks for producing different probabilities according to seeded and unseeded teams respectively.
Abstract: A mat for a desk or other type of furniture. It incorporates a plurality of layers glued together, including a bottom layer of cork, a middle layer made up of a single sheet of uniform plastic material, and a top layer. The top layer is any of wood, soft metal, and vinyl.
Abstract: A main stand having a base, a main post having lower and upper sections on the base, the upper section being releasably held in a socket on the lower section. A cross bar is mounted on the upper end of the post. Clips are mounted on the cross bar for releasably holding hair pieces. A larger basket is mounted on the lower section of the post and a smaller cup on the upper section. An auxiliary stand includes a post in which the upper part of the main stand is temporarily held.
Abstract: A frame made of a single one-piece filament, bent at the middle to form a support loop which fits in the groove inwardly of the glans, support rods lead inwardly from the support loop where they are mounted in a joint, a detachable support ring being swingably mounted in the joint. A retainer is slidably mounted on the support rods which tightens and loosens the support loop, and holds the support rods in spaced position.
Abstract: A one-piece metal clip, of spring material, having spaced prongs at a second end forming a convex bearing point near a first end and a recess forward thereof. At a trailing end it has a re-bent hook. The clip is fitted on a releasable and detachable fitting on a telephone instrument by which the cord is secured to the instrument, to overcome weakness in the fitting and cord.
Abstract: A fixed domed structure, and a pair of movable units each having an arena for playing a game thereon. The fixed structure includes fixed amphitheater seats around a center void where a movable unit is located when in active position. One of the movable units also includes bleacher seats carried thereby, surrounding a smaller arena. When this latter movable unit is in active position, the bleacher seats form a continuation of the fixed amphitheater seats.
