  • Patent number: 6448624
Abstract: A semiconductor sensor chip is provided with a weight portion supported in a frame via beams whereby acceleration up to substantially ±1 G can be detected by utilizing piezoresistance effect of resistor elements formed on the beams. The semiconductor sensor chip is supported by a seat having a thermal expansion coefficient equivalent to that of the semiconductor sensor chip via the frame. The frame and the seat are adhered to each other by a flexible adhesive agent mixed with a plurality of resin beads functioning as spacers and under an adhesion state, air damping of the weight portion is carried out by setting a dimension of an air gap between the weight portion and the seat to a range of 7 through 15 &mgr;m.

  • Patent number: 6443023
Abstract: An electromagnetic switch for controlling an electric power supply to a starting motor is located in the periphery of one side of an output shaft in a radial direction thereof and coaxially with the output shaft. The electromagnetic switch has a motor contact connected with a power supply circuit for supplying brushes with electric power. The motor contact comprises a battery-side fixed contact formed integrally with a battery terminal, a motor-side fixed contact electrically connected with a positive brush through a lead wire and a plate, and a movable contact held by an end of a plunger. In the case where the electromagnetic switch is located not coaxially, the electromagnetic switch is shaped in a flat form and located in parallel with the output shaft so that the central axis thereof resides radially inside the outer periphery of a starting motor.

  • Patent number: 6408317
Abstract: A device takes as input an input bit stream and produces as output an output bit stream. A linear feedback shift register (LFSR) operates on the input bit stream and modifies the internal state of the LFSR if and only if a current bit value of the input bit stream differs from an immediately previous bit value of the input bit stream. A condenser having a compression factor N, operates on the input bit stream independently and asynchronously from the LFSR. The condenser produces a condensed value of the input bit stream. The condenser has a checksum register; a checksum accumulator register; and an adder for adding bits from the input bits stream to the checksum register. The low-order bit of the checksum register is shifted into the checksum accumulator register every N bits, and the condensed value produced by the condenser is the value in the checksum accumulator register.

  • Patent number: 6360055
Abstract: Data on multiple stories or scenes are recorded on a recording medium so as to reduce the physical distance moved by a pickup at playback time and to suppress breaks or disturbances in reproduced video. A multi-scene program having a plurality of optionally selectable branch stories B0, B1, B2, B3, etc., is recorded between a branch point X and a connection point Y. The preceding main story of a video program, made up of video, sound, text and the like, branches off at branch point X to the branch stories, and at connection point Y connects to the succeeding main story in the video program. The recorded state between the branch point X and the connection point Y is such that the branch stories are each divided into multiple cells and the cells of the respective branch stories are recorded time-division multiplexed.

  • Patent number: 6331500
Abstract: The present invention relates to functionalized molecular sieves that are useful as shape-selective adsorbents and catalysts. The inventive molecular sieves have a crystalline framework and include micropores of substantially uniform size and shape formed therein. These micropores contain one or more accessible organic moieties that are linked to the crystalline framework by a carbon-silicon ond. Shape selectivity of the inventive molecular sieves may be modulated by varying the size and shape of the micropores (which is a function of the particular molecular sieve being synthesized) and the organic moiety incoporated therein.

  • Patent number: 6292561
Abstract: The invention is directed to a digital mobile phone of a type using a subscriber identification module, the improvement being that there is an externally attached holder for at least two subscriber identification modules so that either can be readily selected by a switch for use in the same phone. There are also described flexible circuits that are used to connect the electrical contacts used conventionally for reading a subscriber identification module by the phone inside the phone that are able to slip through gaps that are naturally occurring between protective covers of the phone because of necessary manufacturing tolerances so that the external subscriber identification modules can be connected without prejudicing manufacturers warranties on any phone.

  • Patent number: 6292670
Abstract: In a method for maintaining a group call in a mobile communication system, a mobile station is registered to a first base station and starts a group call. A traffic channel is reserved by the first base station for the group call, and the mobile station changes over to communicating on the traffic channel reserved from the first base station. To ensure an uninterrupted group call, a ‘follow me’ function is activated for the group call. In response to activating the ‘follow me’ function for the group call and reservation of a traffic channel by the first base station for the group call, a traffic channel is reserved from each of the desired second base station adjacent to the first base station for the group call. When some of the mobile stations participating in the group call change over to using a second base station adjacent to the first base station, the mobile station changes over to communicating on the traffic channel reserved from the base station for the group call.

  • Patent number: 6285393
Abstract: An object recognition apparatus that can recognize an object in an image acquired by an on-vehicle camera mounted on a vehicle with high efficiency and accuracy. A recognition processing is carried out in a cut off range, which is cut off from the image, and in which an object to be recognized is supposed to be present. The cut off range is obtained using support information supplied from a position detection device and/or an anti-lock brake device of the vehicle. Since the object in the image changes its position as the vehicle moves, the displacement must be estimated during the object recognition. The estimation requires camera attitude parameters of the on-vehicle camera with respect to the road, and the estimation is performed using support information supplied from the position detection device and/of the anti-lock brake device. This will improve the efficiency and accuracy of obtaining the camera attitude parameters.
