  • Patent number: 6179916
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for creating dry coated particulates from particulates and a liquid. A mixer receives the particulates and liquid and creates a wet mixture which is then subjected to hot air from a hot air generator to dry the mixture and produce the dry coated particulates. In a preferred form the apparatus includes a floating coupling between the mixer and the generator to permit some relative movement, and load cells are used to control the amount of particulates loaded into the mixer. There is similar control of the liquid and a control console is provided to receive data and send instructions to cause the apparatus to cycle through repetitive batch processes in a continuous process. The mixer preferably includes structure to cause the hot air to enter the mixture as it moves downwardly in the mixer for enhanced drying.

  • Patent number: 6164811
Abstract: An extruder assembly has a gear box drivable by a motor, an output shaft having a main portion extending through the gear box and rotatable by operation of the motor and gear box, and an extruder housing located forwardly of the gear box. The output shaft has a further portion extending forwardly from the main portion and passing into the extruder housing and having a screw configuration therein for feeding plastic material through the housing when the output shaft is rotated. The main portion of the output shaft is axially slidable in the gear box, and the forwardly extending portion has a diameter not greater than the diameter of the main portion whereby the output shaft can be withdrawn from the housing and the gear box by rearward movement therethrough. A retainer is operable to retain the output shaft in an operative position for rotation to feed plastic material through the housing and also to permit the output shaft to be withdrawn by rearward movement when desired.

  • Patent number: 6145931
Abstract: An article for use in putting on and removing a shoe. The article includes a seat assembly including a seat resting above a support. The article further includes a foot rest assembly attached to the seat assembly, and a shoe support retained by the seat assembly. The foot rest assembly includes a foot rest positionable at a selected location in front of the seat assembly and angled upwardly towards the seat assembly to present an inclined surface to a person sitting on a seat of the seat assembly. The shoe support is positionable to extend horizontally and laterally outwardly of the seat assembly at a selected location. A person may therefore sit on the seat, pick up a shoe which is resting on the shoe support, and put it on his or her foot which is resting on the foot rest. Alternatively, the person can remove a shoe from a foot resting on the foot rest and place the shoe on the shoe support. The need to bend over to reach the ground for a shoe is eliminated through use of the article and a shoe rack.
