Abstract: A threaded device is provided which can be screwed into the tooth root of a broken tooth to aid in the attachment of a crown or similar prosthesis. The threaded device has a head which is in the shape of a spherical segment of less than a hemisphere which holds a retention ring, a shim, and in some embodiments a coping dish whereby the device of the present invention can be screwed into a threaded hole in the tooth, a dental cement applied thereto and a crown or other prosthesis applied over the head of the bolt and retention ring. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the retention ring is in the form of a spherical segment which is complementary to the spherical segment of the head to provide a complete spherical head.
Abstract: The lens of the present invention is a progressive power lens having a top portion for distance viewing and a bottom portion for close-up vision with a continuous transition corridor between the top and bottom portions. The lens is characterized by having a very wide transition corridor as contrasted with prior art lenses.
Abstract: A check valve construction is provided which is free of friction imparting elements such as a labyrinth seal or a stuffing box with internal packing having an external mounted counterweight. One embodiment is of the power assist type constructed with convenient means for local daily testing the free swing portion of the check valve while another embodiment includes a manual test device. The valves may include friction free disc position indicators.
Abstract: A power actuated toothbrush is provided wherein the brush consists of a plurality of tufts which are individually driven by means whereby the tufts are forced to move coaxially back and forth against the teeth to give a jackhammer-type action. The tufts may be driven mechanically, or by a fluid drive, preferably pneumatic. The tufts automatically adapt for irregularities in the teeth and gums and enter the sulcus and embrasures for thorough cleaning.
Abstract: A climbing maze for children is provided by fastening together a plurality of rods. The maze includes three triangular members which are arranged with their apices resting on the ground and having the tops of the triangles intermeshed with each other and having a fourth triangular member arranged in a horizontal plane below the tops of the first three triangular members. The maze also includes three straight members resting on the ground and engaging the apices of the fourth triangular member and being lashed to the other triangular members where they cross. Preferably the rods are of ordinary plastic plumbing pipe.
Abstract: An improved tab separator element interposes label bearing glass bottles in a paperboard carrier carton. An arcuately shaped fold line not only flares outwardly the front portion of the tab to provide a wider aperture facilitating insertion of the bottle into the carton, but also increases tab resiliency which aids in holding packaged bottles firmly in place within the carton. Leading edges of the tab are rounded and angled to decrease the possibility of tearing or disfiguring paper labels.
Abstract: A pallet loading and unloading system is provided wherein the pallet has a low friction surface and a sheet of thin, tough plastic is placed over such surface and the load is placed on the plastic. The pallet is unloaded by placing it on the ground, raising one end and moving off with the pallet whereby the load slides and remains on said plastic sheet, permitting retrieval and reuse of the pallet.

Abstract: A climbing film heat exchange apparatus and particularly an evaporator is provided wherein a turbine is mounted on the shaft of the evaporator so that it is not necessary to provide a fluid seal on the shaft and, in some embodiments, the heat employed to drive the turbine also serves as part or all of the heat supplied to the apparatus for the heat treatment. In some embodiments of the invention wherein a hydrocarbon fluid is employed and it is desired to recover water, the water of combustion is recovered as part of the desired product.
Abstract: A clip is provided which is adapted for fastening onto a flexible web such as a sheet of fabric. The clip is particularly adapted for fastening the fabric of a tent to supporting poles or stakes or for fastening webs together.
Abstract: A zero gravity chair is provided wherein a person is supported in an extremely comfortable manner. The chair utilizes only a single suspension point and a novel feature of the invention is that it is readily adjustable to accommodate individual preferences.
Abstract: A growing frame for plants is provided wherein the framework consists of aluminum members which support a plastic netting. Single or multiple sections can be provided and a simple method is provided for fastening the netting to the frame and adjusting the tension on the netting.
Abstract: A television set is energized by electricity generated by an exercise cycle. The bicycle may be used to charge a battery which in turn operates the T.V. set or the exercise cycle can turn a generator which directly operates the set. The device is particularly useful in limiting the amount of "junk" T.V. watched by children.
Abstract: A cornerboard for a pallet is provided which is fabricated from a suitable material; in one embodiment it is molded of a plastic and in another it is made of sheet steel sections. The cornerboards may be provided with a variety of interlocking sections and spacer members so that packages of different sizes can be accommodated by selecting the proper length of the sections and/or spacers.
Abstract: A portable, foldable solar oven is provided wherein the basic construction material is ordinary cardboard, some surfaces of which are coated with a reflective material. The portable oven doubles as an insulated container for keeping refrigerated foodstuffs cold while being transported to a distant site for cooking.
