Abstract: In a machine for machining metal having a rotating cutting head with a star feed for advancing the cutting head, an adjustable angle drive is provided whereby one can machine a conical concave or convex surface.

Abstract: A grooving bar is provided for machining grooves on the inside surface of a casting or the like, such as the split casing for a pump. The grooving bar of the present invention can be inserted into a casing, adjusted for a precision cut and moved from one cutting location to the next. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a geared-down adjustment mechanism is provided for precise feeding of the cutting tool.

Abstract: A bounce-flash reflector is provided which is highly effective in providing an even distribution of light and which is simple and compact so that it can be readily carried in a pocket or the like.

Abstract: A prefabricated fireplace, largely made of metal, is provided for permanent installation in a house or similar structure. The fireplace is completely self-insulated so that it does not require any special materials of construction for installation and furthermore, combustion air is supplied for secondary combustion to prevent creosote buildup. Additionally, the fireplace does not use room air for combustion and is substantially airtight so that no room heat is lost up the chimney.

Abstract: Improved particles for magnetic recording are provided by coating gamma ferric oxide with a mixture of barium, strontium, lead or calcium and a trivalent iron oxide. The particles have enhanced coercivity and the coercivity is relatively unaffected by elevated temperatures.

Abstract: An improved cornerboard for a pallet is provided wherein the main portion consists of two L-shaped metal sections with complementary tongues and slots so that the cornerboard height can be readily adjusted. The cornerboard is easily fabricated from steel sheet sections utilizing conventional bending, stamping and welding techniques.

Abstract: A tent is provided wherein the poles are a series of stressed, arcuate rods which surround a convex polyhedra such as a hemispherical structure. The arcuate rods are approximately in the configuration of segments of circles and they cross at a plurality of points and fit in sockets at each point of crossing and the crossing point is fastened to the membrane forming the tent.

All of the mixers are equipped to operate under pressure.

An alternating current generator is connected to the series line and tuned progressively to the frequency of each of the passive resonators. If an open circuit occurs across any of the resonators, a detector circuit detects the high impedance which results and actuates an indicator circuit wherein the indicator is selected for the frequency of the resonator of a particular location. Even if a plurality of switches are open, the selection circuit will be activated for the particular locations of the open switches.

The movement of a large object in the vicinity of such a system produces an equal perturbation on both of the sense wires so that no alarm is set off while an actual intrusion will cause a difference which is detected and utilized to provide an alarm system which is less susceptible to false alarms than the usual alarm systems.

Abstract: A solar collector of generally improved design is provided wherein the collector element comprises a flat absorber plate formed of two sheets of a conductive metal treated in a bonding process under heat and pressure with portions of the sheets spaced in such a way as to provide a sinuous passage from one end of the collector to the other with flat portions of the plate between said passages. The collector has a double glazing over the absorber plate to provide an air space between the sheets of glass and between the glazing and the absorber plate. A feature of the invention is in the fabrication of the collector utilizing novel metal extruded frame members combined with wood frame members. This combination provides an effective means for sealing the elements against the weather and for holding the various elements in correct alignment as well as resisting loads of snow or sleet.
