  • Patent number: 8303992
Abstract: A method of producing a dried formulation for an active substance such as a drug compound is described. The method involves dispersing a discontinuous phase (e.g. an oil-based or lipidic medium) comprising the active substance into a continuous phase (e.g. water) so as to form a two-phase liquid system comprising droplets of said discontinuous phase, allowing nanoparticles to congregate at the phase interface at the surface of the droplets such that at least one layer of nanoparticles coat the droplets and thereby provide sufficient structural integrity to the droplets to enable the subsequent removal of the continuous phase, and thereafter removing the continuous phase from the nanoparticle-coated droplets to produce a dried formulation.

  • Patent number: 8306906
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for maintaining neutrality while trading a list of securities using an algorithmic trading facility coupled with at least one destination. This destination includes at least one alternative trading system (ATS). This facility is coupled, via an electronic data network, to a plurality of trading clients, and configured to receive a trade request to trade a list of securities from a trading client. This request includes user defined trading constraints that are used to generate and transmit trade orders to at least one ATS. The orders are transmitted based on trading data related to the destinations, the trade list, and the trading constraints. The facility can identify each executed trade corresponding to the trade orders and calculate a trade imbalance. The facility can determine whether the trade imbalance exceeds the trading constraints, and reallocate one or more of said submitted orders based on this determination.

  • Patent number: 8305960
Abstract: The present invention describes a method for operation and maintenance of Access Points in a wireless communications network, and a network node and an access point for use in such a network. Access points are used for connecting wireless networks to core networks. The method comprises the step of first receiving, at a network node, an on-demand triggered request for status information, wherein the request includes an access point identity. The network node investigates, using the received access point identity, if the access point is registered within the network. If the access point is registered within the network, then as a first following step, the network node uses the access point identity to retrieving access point address information from storing means. In a second following step, the network node uses the retrieved address information to establish a connection to the access point. Thereafter the network node receives access point status information.

  • Patent number: 8303918
Abstract: In a method for preparing cerium carbonate powder by mixing a cerium precursor solution with a urea solution and carrying out a precipitation reaction, wherein the cerium carbonate powder has a hexagonal crystal structure, by using at least one type of organic solvent as a solvent for either or both the cerium precursor solution and the urea solution, and adjusting temperature of the precipitation reaction within a range of 120° C. to 300° C. Also, the method can yield cerium carbonate powder, cerium oxide powder from the cerium carbonate powder, and CMP slurry including the cerium oxide powder as an abrasive. In the method, urea as a precipitant can improve the uniformity of a reaction, and thus it is possible to easily and inexpensively obtain cerium carbonate powder with a hexagonal crystal structure without the danger by high-temperature high-pressure and the need for an expensive system in hydrothermal synthesis.
