Abstract: A sensor for determining the level of the liquid in the lye container for removing foam in the lye container of a drum washing machine with a lye discharge system arranged on the floor of the lye container with a lye pump during a program step, which is provided for dehydrating the lye container. Its sensor signal P is recorded during operation of the lye pump. According to the present invention the sequence p/t of the sensor signal contains a component ?p/?t, whereof the presence indicates the presence of foam in the measuring region. Further, in the presence of the component a foam treatment measure suiting the type of component is introduced.
Abstract: A device 15, 2 to 6 and 10 to 14 for controlling appliance functions and for communicating with a user need not stay switched on during the entire operating time. These mostly include optical indicating means 10 to 14 whose lifetime can be increased if a motion detector 19 is arranged on the household appliance and is operatively connected to the device 15 for controlling and/or the device 2 to 6, 10 to 14 for communicating and if the device 10 to 14 for communicating can only be switched to active on receiving a signal from the motion detector 19.
Abstract: A raised-level built-in cooking appliance, such as a wall-mounted oven, has a muffle and a bottom-side muffle opening. The latter can be closed with a lowerable bottom door. A drive device produces a lifting movement of the bottom door. In order to determine the weight of a cooking item, the wall-mounted cooking appliance has a weight detection device that determines the weight load on the bottom door.
Abstract: A multiple fingered burner includes controls for continuity of gas flow and ignition throughout all of the ports peripherally positioned around the contoured wall of the burner body. A plurality of burner parts are nested together with an indexer limiting insertion to at least one predetermined alignment in order to avoid improper fit or alignment between adjacent burner parts. In addition, the peripherally positioned ports are covered by a laterally extending lip of a cap, and at least one of the parts includes recesses adjacent the laterally extending lip to provide ignitable gas flow passages along the peripheral wall of the burner that maintain continuity of ignition at adjacent burner ports.

Abstract: Items of clothing, such as dress shirts, may be smoothed or pressed by pulling them taut from within by way of an inflatable body that is linked with a base that is provided with a fan for inflating the inflatable body. In order to partially or completely prevent the inflatable body from being worn down, a covering is provided for the inflatable body, which is air-permeable across at least a part of its surface. The covering can be produced at substantially lower costs than the inflatable body so that it can be washed more often, while accepting the wear and tear thereby caused, since the covering can be replaced at a low cost. The covering may have a different shape and/or smaller dimensions in order to adapt to the type of the item of clothing to be smoothened.
Abstract: A door for a household appliance comprising a door body having a cylindrical portal with a ridge extending radially inwardly from an end of the portal. The door body includes multiple receptacles disposed adjacent the portal and spaced around the portal. A rear glass piece is at least partially disposed within the portal and includes a flange extending around an outer edge of the rear glass. A view guide is at least partially disposed within the portal and includes a cylindrical portion having a lead edge and multiple hooks extending back from the lead edge with a barb disposed near an end of each hook. The hooks engage corresponding receptacles to connect the view guide to the door body and retain the rear glass within the door body. The flange of the rear glass is disposed between the ridge and the lead edge.
Abstract: A freezer includes a refrigeration surface that can be frozen, such as an evaporator surface, a heating device for heating the refrigeration surface, and a control circuit for controlling the operation of the heating device in accordance with a timer. The control circuit is configured to block the operation of the heating device for a time period that is defined by the timer. The timer is used to ensure that the refrigeration surface is only heated to defrost the freezer, if the refrigeration power requirement of the latter is low.
Abstract: A refrigerator including a body and a door pivotably fitted to the body. The body and the door together define an interior space in the refrigerator. At least one lamp for illumination of the interior is mounted on the door and the light distribution thereof, relative to the door, is variable and coupled to the pivot motion of the door.
