Abstract: There is provided a method for producing a force sensor including: a force sensor chip; and an attenuator, in which the force sensor chip and the attenuator are joined at joint portions with a glass layer sandwiched therebetween. The method includes: a film forming step in which a glass film as the glass layer is formed on regions of the attenuator containing the joint portions or on regions of the force sensor chip containing the joint portions; and an anodic bonding step in which the force sensor chip and the attenuator are stacked as a stacked body in close contact with each other at the joint portions, and the glass film and the force sensor chip, or the glass film and the attenuator, are joined.
Abstract: In a skin of a robot, it is configured to have a plurality of tactile sensors discretely installed on a base, a first member disposed on the tactile sensors, the first member being continuously formed, at its surface facing the tactile sensors, with projections which are tapered toward the respective tactile sensors as viewed in cross-section to be capable of pressing each of the tactile sensors, and a second member that is disposed on the first member and is made of a material being lower in rigidity than a material of the first member. With this, the skin is equipped with the second member as a soft skin surface and it becomes possible to reliably detect a point of action or distribution of a load applied through the skin surface, thereby enabling to reliably estimate a point in contact with an external object.

A speed reducer that reduces the speed of input rotation includes at least a first space and a second space separated by an oil seal, and the first space and the second space are each put with lubricant. A level of the lubricant put in the first space is set to be higher than a level of the lubricant put in the second space, and the level of the lubricant put in the second space is set to be at or lower the level of a lowermost oil seal among oil seals that separate the second space and the exterior of the speed reducer.
Abstract: A process for preparing a crystalline rapamycin analog includes: combining the rapamycin analog with an organic medium to form a mixture; incubating the mixture until the rapamycin analog crystallizes; and recovering the crystalline rapamycin analog. The organic medium can be a solvent, and the process can include causing the rapamycin analog to dissolve into the solvent, and incubating the solvent until the rapamycin analog crystallizes. The following can also be performed: forming a slurry of crystalline rapamycin analog; stirring the rapamycin analog mixture until the rapamycin analog crystallizes; saturating the rapamycin analog solution; forming a supersaturated rapamycin analog solution; combining an antisolvent with the rapamycin analog and the solvent to form a biphasic mixture, and incubating the biphasic mixture to cause a liquid-liquid phase split.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose systems and methods for providing an enhanced data link using overlaid modulation. Through embodiments of the present invention, existing ATC (or other) modulated signals using existing standard frequencies may be utilized to transmit (e.g., from an aircraft transponder) additional information in a manner that does not render the transmitted signal unrecognizable by legacy ATC equipment. Legacy equipment will be able to demodulate and decode information that was encoded in the transmitted signal in accordance with preexisting standard modulation formats, and updated equipment can also extract the additional information that was overlaid on transmitted signals.

Abstract: An extensible, data-driven, language independent source code editor is presented, with an embedded, extensible multi-language compiler framework. Such an editor can be tightly integrated with a compiler framework that provides detailed information about the language currently being edited by the user. This information can be provided in a language-neutral way effectively decoupling the editor from the underlying set of languages being edited. In addition, a language-independent editor can expose a set of APIs that makes it easy to customize behavior for specific languages that have characteristics not shared by most languages. This set of APIs can also enable the development of customized views, such as for developing visual editors that represent and allow the user to manipulate aspects of the source code pictorially. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention.

Abstract: There is provided a communication system, comprising a network infrastructure comprising: a transmitter configured to transmit signaling information to user terminals, the signaling information being related to the allocation of the plurality of sub-carriers at a common frequency band used for data transmission between the multiple user terminals and a network infrastructure; a processor configured to divide the common frequency band into two suppression bands at the edge zones of the common frequency band and to provide a safe band between the two suppression bands, the two suppression bands including sub-carriers having a predetermined amount of decreased channel estimation accuracy compared with the other sub-carriers of the common frequency band; and a processor configured to allocate signaling information, related to the allocation of at least one sub-carrier to a user terminal having an expected signal to interference-plus-noise ratio at a predetermined level, to at least one sub-carrier included in the
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, system, network element and computer program product for transmitting a data stream in a point-to-multipoint mode from a source entity to a plurality of users in a predetermined area of a cellular network, said predetermined area comprising a plurality of sub-areas. A predetermined, recurring time period is allocated to transmission of localized data specified for users of individual ones of said plurality of sub-areas, and a transmission capacity of the data stream is divided using said predetermined, recurring time period among adjacent sub-areas. Localized data is then transmitted during the predetermined, recurring time period using a divided transmission capacity allocated to the respective sub-area. Thereby, combination of global and local broadcast or multicast content is enabled in a broadcast system by avoiding overlapping of transmissions with different content at cell edges.

Abstract: In an exposure controller of a camera mounted on a robot for taking an image utilizing incident light from external world in which an object such as a human being is present, a brightness histogram of the image is generated and exposure parameters are set based on the generated histogram. Then, it is determined whether the set exposure parameters are within a predetermined range and when they are out of the range and if a high-brightness imaging region is present in the image due to high-brightness incident light, it is again determined whether it is necessary to remove the high-brightness imaging region. When it is determined to be necessary, the high-brightness imaging region is extracted and is removed from the image, thereby enabling the camera to image the object with suitable brightness even when a bright light source such as the sun is within the camera angle of view.
