  • Patent number: 8301445
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to methods for generating a multilingual acoustic model. A main acoustic model comprising a main acoustic model having probability distribution functions and a probabilistic state sequence model including first states is provided to a processor. At least one second acoustic model including probability distribution functions and a probabilistic state sequence model including states is also provided to the processor. The processor replaces each of the probability distribution functions of the at least one second acoustic model by one of the probability distribution functions and/or each of the states of the probabilistic state sequence model of the at least one second acoustic model with the state of the probabilistic state sequence model of the main acoustic model based on a criteria set to obtain at least one modified second acoustic model. The criteria set may be a distance measurement.

  • Patent number: 8292625
Abstract: A radically curable polyurethane composite for dental restorations, including provisional restorations, includes polyurethane dimethacrylate prepolymers that have at least one flexible unit within a polyurethane dimethacrylate backbone, and one or more dimethacrylate monomers. Composite materials made with polyurethane dimethacrylate prepolymers of the invention exhibit superior and optimal properties of flexural strength and deflection-at-break relative to conventional dental resin composites. Composite materials of the invention also provide improved melt-resistance in response to the heat of grinding or finishing, thereby improving the fit of restorations made from the composite and preserving the finishing instruments. Methods of treating a tooth using the radically curable polyurethane composite and methods of making the polyurethane dimethacrylate prepolymers with flexible units is also provided. • Patent number: 8295019
Abstract: The polarity reversal protection unit comprises a pyrotechnic disconnecting unit, a detector device, a tripping element, a first connection element electrically connected with at least one consumer connection and a second connection element electrically connecting a supply support point with the first connection element. The pyrotechnic disconnecting unit is arranged on at least one of the connection elements. The tripping element has a first connection, electrically insulated from the connection elements, to the detector device and a second connection to one of the connection elements, so that a current flow in the tripping element causes a triggering of the pyrotechnic disconnecting unit. The triggering of the pyrotechnic disconnecting unit causes an electrical disconnection of the first and second connection elements.

  • Patent number: 8289334
Abstract: A floating point rasterization and frame buffer in a computer system graphics program. The rasterization, fog, lighting, texturing, blending, and antialiasing processes operate on floating point values. In one embodiment, a 16-bit floating point format consisting of one sign bit, ten mantissa bits, and five exponent bits (s10e5), is used to optimize the range and precision afforded by the 16 available bits of information. In other embodiments, the floating point format can be defined in the manner preferred in order to achieve a desired range and precision of the data stored in the frame buffer. The final floating point values corresponding to pixel attributes are stored in a frame buffer and eventually read and drawn for display. The graphics program can operate directly on the data in the frame buffer without losing any of the desired range and precision of the data.

  • Patent number: 8288191
Abstract: A method of forming an inertial sensor provides 1) a device wafer with a two-dimensional array of inertial sensors and 2) a second wafer, and deposits an alloy of aluminum/germanium onto one or both of the wafers. The alloy is deposited and patterned to form a plurality of closed loops. The method then aligns the device wafer and the second wafer, and then positions the alloy between the wafers. Next, the method melts the alloy, and then solidifies the alloy to form a plurality of conductive hermetic seal rings about the plurality of the inertial sensors. The seal rings bond the device wafer to the second wafer. Finally, the method dices the wafers to form a plurality of individual, hermetically sealed inertial sensors.

  • Patent number: 8285385
Abstract: Generating electrode stimulation signals for an implanted electrode array is described. An acoustic audio signal is processed to generate band pass signals which represent associated bands of audio frequencies. Macro bands are defined, each of which characterizes multiple band pass signals. The macro bands are processed in a sequence of sampling intervals. For each sampling interval, the processing includes: i. extracting timing and energy information from each band pass signal to form requested stimulation events, ii. decimating the requested stimulation events to select a maximum energy band pass signal within each macro band, and iii. decimating each selected band pass signal based on a pulse selection inhibition function and preserving temporal and spectral structures of the band pass signals so as to generate stimulation event signals.

  • Patent number: 8282951
Abstract: Antimicrobial coatings to protect surfaces and a method of applying such a coating are disclosed. An antimicrobial coating may be applied to a surface, such as the interior surface of a building's exterior wall. The interior surface must be accessed, and then an antimicrobial coating is provided and applied. The antimicrobial coating includes an inorganic antimicrobial additive and a colloidal polymeric medium. The inorganic antimicrobial additive may be silver, platinum, gold, palladium, copper, zinc, boron, or a compound of any of those elements. By including an ultraviolet tracer or color dye additive in the coating, it is possible to detect the coating at any time, provided that the surface is accessed.

  • Patent number: 8285077
Abstract: A method of de-skewing a digital image is described. An input camera image is initially received, and text within the input camera image is identified. A text direction of the identified text is determined to determine text lines within the camera image. A three-dimensional de-skewing transformation is determined of the text lines to make the text lines horizontal. Then the de-skewing transformation is applied to the input camera image to form a de-skewed output image. An unwarping transformation may also be applied to the input camera image for straightening text lines that are curved.

  • Patent number: 8279026
Abstract: An improved micro-machined relay is disclosed. The relay includes a micro-machined beam capable of carrying an electric signal and having a contact point on a closure side of the beam. The beam is electrically coupled to a first electrical transmission path and suspended above a second electrical transmission path. An insulation layer resides on a portion of the closure side of the beam and an electrical conductor is coupled to a least a portion of the insulation layer. A potential creator creates a potential between the electrical conductor and the potential creator that is capable of deflecting the beam, so that the contact point comes into contact with the second electrical transmission path. In such an embodiment, the potential creator need not account for the possible signal in the transmission path because the potential creator, which may be a voltage source, is decoupled from the transmission path.
