  • Patent number: 4117720
Abstract: An electromagnetic flowmeter having a small-bore flow tube having a thick-walled plastic tube having a conically-relieved electrode-receiving bore. A compression ring around the conical part of the tube squeezes the plastic sealingly between the electrode and the ring. In assembly, compressive force exerted by Belleville springs or washers causes the plastic to flow into sealing contact with the electrode.

  • Patent number: 4115068
Abstract: Air indicating device for use in steam or gas sterilizers and the like includes an upright tube placed in the sterilizer. The tube is open at its bottom to the sterilizing chamber and is closed at its top. A heat sink within the tube causes steam entering the tube to condense with a resulting accumulation of air in the top of the tube. The air accumulation acts as a barrier preventing further steam from reaching the upper portion of the tube. A temperature sensitive indicator strip extending axially into the tube changes color responsive to temperature. The air barrier is also an insulator so that the color of the indicator is a record of the temperature gradient from the top to the bottom of the tube, the temperature, in turn, being a measure of the amount of air trapped in the tube.

  • Patent number: 4108310
Abstract: A blood pressure testing kit having the usual elements, namely, pressure gauge, humeral cuff, pump, bleed valve, and appropriate interconnections, and a stethoscope, is provided with a case which is in two parts hinged together but made of one integral piece of "living hinge" plastic material. One part of the case provides for storing all the said elements but the pressure gauge, which is mounted in the other case part, which acts also as lid for the same part. When the case is open, all the elements are manually accessible for use in blood pressure testing, and at the same time, the pressure gauge can be read while the testing procedure is being carried out.

  • Patent number: 4106337
Abstract: A magnetic flow meter nulling system wherein each electrode has connected thereto an in-phase voltage adjusting network and a phase-shifted voltage adjusting network. In particular, each electrode is connected in a loop with a slide wire of a potentiometer. The slider of one potentiometer is connected directly to the measuring circuit whereas the other potentiometer's slide wire has the slide wire of a third potentiometer connected across, the said other potentiometer having its slides connected directly to the measuring circuit and the slider of the third potentiometer being connected to the measuring circuit via a capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4106159
Abstract: A hinge includes a spring biased rod which is biased towards a supporting bracket. When the hinge is rotated to a certain position, the biased rod drops into a notch located on the supporting bracket. This arrangement, retains the lid of a kiln in an open position relative to the body of the kiln.

  • Patent number: 4105411
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for determining the activated clotting time of a blood sample, the device being a hand held unit for holding a glass tube containing the blood sample to be tested. The unit includes an electric heater for maintaining the blood sampe at 37.degree. C and an electronic timer. A digital display on the unit can be selectively programmed to display either a temperature or a time function. Upon obtaining the desired temperature, the electronic timer is started and the blood sample is virtually observed in order to determine the elapsed time before the blood sample begins to clot.

  • Patent number: 4104209
Abstract: A process for the preparation of an ion exchange resin of higher porosity and purity is described. The porosity is achieved by inserting polar, preferably hydrolyzable linear polymer into the polymerizing phase. The insert is later extracted from the polymerized beads.

  • Patent number: 4092070
Abstract: Light passing through an etalon is divided into three beams, each beam being incident to the etalon at a different angle. Two of the beams are received by detectors which generates intensity representative signal for each beam. The difference between the beam intensities represents the error between the etalon's passband and the wavenumber of the received light.

  • Patent number: 4083600
Abstract: A dental chair having a backrest and a seat each of which is angularly adjustable about a common horizontal axis. A motor drives a linkage system which simultaneously angularly adjusts both backrest tilt and seat inclination to positions ranging from one in which the chair supports the patient in substantially sitting position, to one in which the patient is reclining with his head below the rest of his body. As compared to the seat, the angular motion of the backrest is relatively uniform over the range of adjustment, whereas most of the angular motion of the seat occurs during the middle 50% of the range.

  • Patent number: 4080073
Abstract: Apparatus for separating radiation due to Raman scattering from a background of fluorescence.A sample of freely rotating molecules is exposed to monochromatic radiation of a fixed plane polarization. The resulting Raman radiation will be strongly polarized while any fluorescence will be essentially non-polarized. Orthogonal components are sequentially received by a detector which responds with output signals. The difference in signals corresponds to the Raman intensity independent of fluorescence.
