  • Patent number: 6289711
Abstract: The invention concerns a bending device (10) comprising two shaping dies (12, 14) with shaping chambers (22, 24) in order to round a sheet bar (26) about a core (16). The peripheral lengths of the two shaping chambers (22, 24) are each longer than half the bushing circumference. During a pre-shaping step, the core (16) penetrates a first chamber (22) by a depth which is greater than the bushing radius. The sheet bar (26) is thus shaped in the form of a U. In an intermediate shaping stage, an auxiliary core (18) is placed on the core (16) such that, as the second shaping die (14) moves downwards, only the end of the U-legs of the sheet bar blank (26) are shaped arcuately. When the auxiliary core (18) and part (20) of the first shaping die (12) have been removed, the final bushing shaping process occurs, in which the second shaping die (14) likewise travels over the center of the bushing. The three-stage bending method enables a bushing to be rounded highly accurately and carefully.

  • Patent number: 6241356
Abstract: A method for determining data for adapting a reflective surface to a desired surface, includes the steps of determining spatial co-ordinates of a multiple number of points of a surface and entering the determined spatial co-ordinates into a computer as a data record. Recorded in the computer are then shape and/or position of a desired surface, with the shape and/or position of the desired surface being variable. The computer calculates for the multiple number of points on the surface the spacing to the desired surface. The spatial co-ordinates and spacings of the multiple number of points are then outputted as a data record for adjusting the surface. By simulating the treatment process on the computer in advance, it is possible to select the optimal treatment process and to eliminate regional unevenness on the cornea.

  • Patent number: 6215096
Abstract: In this method, the refraction performance is either measured along the path of rays (5-7) for a multitude of ray paths which are distributed across a surface, each path originating from one point (P), or is given based on empirically established values. Afterwards the distances of the incident rays between the surfaces intersected by the path of rays are measured along the path or are given based on empirically established values, and the required shape of at least one surface intersected by the paths of rays is calculated based on those values so that the paths of rays intersect in one point as accurately as possible. Based on the values derived in this way optical fittings (3) can be calculated which can be placed on the cornea surface (8-10), inserted into the inner cornea, attached to the anterior section (11) of the eye and inserted into the inner part of the eye in order to simulate arithmetically all measures that change the refraction power of the eye before the measure is actually implemented.
