Abstract: One embodiment of a terminal device according to the present invention comprises a moving image acquiring means for acquiring the moving image of a measured subject on which a sensor is installed, a sensor data acquisition means for acquiring sensor data from the sensor about said measured subject and a display control means for overlaying and displaying said moving image and additional images that are generated from said sensor data. The embodiment provides a terminal device capable of effectively checking a player's motion.

Abstract: A terminal device includes a display unit having a function for displaying a menu screen on a display screen, a selection unit for causing a user to select one of the items in the menus screen displayed on the display screen, and a holding unit holding status information concerning at least one application among a plurality of applications. The display unit displays an item indicating the application on the display screen while presenting status information on the application held in the holding unit on the display screen.

Abstract: A swing analyzer is disclosed. The swing analyzer may be used to analyze the swing an object such as a golf club. The swing analyzer accounts for individual differences between users and/or sensors to improve performance. The swing analyzer includes a motion sensor that is attachable to the object. The motion sensor communicates wirelessly with a terminal device. The terminal device includes a swing analysis unit for performing swing analysis based on sensor data output from the motion sensor. The swing analyzer determines a target line based on position of the motion sensor while a user is at the address posture before a swing. The target line is used as a reference to provide swing analyses.

Abstract: A system having a distributed web site is described. The web site is distributed between a client, a server and a web server. The client stores a set of predefined applications that correspond to a part of the web site. The applications are formatted according to a first markup language. From the set of predefined applications, the client can generate queries. The server receives the queries and generates new, related queries. The new queries correspond to a second query protocol. The second query protocol is used by the web server. The web server generates responses to the new queries and sends these responses to the server. The responses are formatted according to a second markup language. These responses correspond to the second portion of the web site. The server then converts the responses into new responses that the client can use.

Abstract: In an electronic device, a method of enabling a first application to employ an action/data handler of a second application includes registering the handler of the second application, receiving an incoming request for the handler from the first application, matching the handler in the request to the handler registered by the second application, delivering the request to the second application for execution and returning a result of execution to the first application. An electronic device comprises an operating system supporting i) an application layer that includes one or more applications having action/data type handlers. The electronic device also includes ii) an exchange manager interfacing with the application layer to provide a central location for registry of the handlers of the one or more applications, and iii) transports coupled to the application layer and exchange manager and adapted to receive incoming requests to employ the handlers of the one or more applications.

Abstract: A method and system for preventing replay attacks on secure data transactions. A replay attack occurs when an unauthorized user intercepts a secure data transaction between a device and a central system and uses the intercepted data to gain access to the central system. One method for preventing such replay attacks is the use of a unique session identification number that is generated for each secure data transaction request. A replay attack is defeated using intercepted data since the unique session identification number is valid only for a completed session and may not be reused. When a device is connected to a server using either wireless or land-line connection, the device requests a session identification number from the server. The server generates and signals to the device a unique session identification number which the device then transmits back to the server along with a request for a secure data transaction.

Abstract: A method and system for the delivery of updated web platform applications to a mobile electronic device upon synchronization of the mobile device with a computer. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention discloses a method and system for dynamically creating personalized and up-to-date applications whenever a mobile electronic device is synchronized with a stand-alone computer system that is coupled to remotely located content servers or computers via a communication network, such as the Internet. Conduits act as gateways for synchronization between the mobile electronic device and the plurality of content servers or computers. These conduits coordinate the loading of the personalized and up-to-date applications onto the mobile electronic device. In one example, a user can then access up-to-date information on the applications at a more convenient time and while disconnected from the content servers or computers that provide the information.

Abstract: A method of managing downloading contents in a network system including a terminal device, a management server and a downloading site includes three phases of procedures. In a first phase procedure, the management server receives a request for downloading contents from the terminal device and performs a predetermined registration operation. In a second phase procedure, the management server transmits attribution data corresponding to the contents to be downloaded by the terminal device, the attribution data including information of the downloading site. In a third phase procedure, the terminal device accessed the downloading site in accordance with the information included in the attribution data and downloads the contents.

Abstract: A method and system utilizing both (x, y) coordinate (“spatial”) stroke data and associated pressure information for improved handwriting recognition. The method and system can also be applied to all types of handwriting-based data entry applications and also to user authentication. The digitizer pad used in the computer system gives both spatial information and associated pressure data when a stroke is being drawn thereon, e.g., by a stylus. Pressure information can be used to differentiate between different character sets, e.g., upper case and lower case characters for certain alphabetic characters. The spatial stroke data then identifies the particular character. The pressure information can also be used to adjust any display attribute, such as character font size, font selection, color, italic, bold, underline, shadow, language, etc. The associated pressure information can also be used for recognizing a signature. In this case, a user is allowed to sign a name on the digitizer pad.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for ensuring the security of an open platform. Specifically, the present invention pertains to a method of using a validation program, itself highly secure, to evaluate and securely flag files in software to be loaded and used on palmtop computing devices. The method prevents the infiltration and unauthorized installation of viruses, Trojans, and other known methods of compromising security in an open-platform system. Control of access to the operating system and the operation of applications and macros in a palmtop device is therefore maintained in the user.

Abstract: A browser-enabled device includes a browser-based user interface and control architecture, which has a browser core, a browser framework, and a user interface. The user interface is written using a markup language. In processing event registrations, the browser framework receives an event registration. The received event registration having a response unique resource identifier (URI) content and a priority field. The priority field of the received event registration is examined to determine priority of the received event registration. If the browser core is loading the response URI content of a prior event registration and if the priority of the received event registration is higher than the priority of the prior event registration, then the loading of the response URI content of the prior event registration is halted, and loading of the response URI content of the received event registration is begun.

Abstract: A method and electronic system for exchanging data between a handheld device and another computer system are described. A data file is transferred to the handheld device using the install application of a synchronization manager. The transferred file is stored as a digital stream file with its native data encoding. After synchronization, a message is sent to notify the exchange manager about the data file. The exchange manager then uses an application registry to identify the application program that corresponds to the file stream based on the extension of the stream file. The pertinent application program is then invoked and the stream file is dispatched to the application for processing. During processing, the pertinent application then formats the stream file such that the data file becomes a record within the database file that is associated with the pertinent application.

Abstract: A switching information acquiring unit 110 acquires information of switching from a screen displayed by a first application program to a screen displayed by a second application program. A character string extracting unit 104 detects character strings from a document file displayed on a screen by the first application program by using a filter serving as a rule to detect a character string matched with a predetermined condition supposed to be used in a second application program and matched with a predetermined condition from a document file. A display control unit 106 presents a character string actually used in the second application from the character strings detected by a character string extracting unit in response to detection of the switching by a switching detecting unit in a display mode in which a user can select the character string.
