  • Patent number: 5346365
Abstract: In a gas turbine, the exhaust gas casing (5) consists of a ring-shaped hub-end inner part (6) and a ring-shaped outer part (7), which parts bound a diffuser (9) and are provided with a horizontal split plane. The exhaust gas casing merges into an exhaust gas duct, whose boundary walls likewise consist of a ring-shaped hub-end inner part (16) and a ring-shaped outer part (17). The split locations between the exhaust gas casing and the exhaust gas duct are configured as flange connections (7A, 17A and 6A, 16A respectively). • Patent number: 5343036
Abstract: In a fiber-optic sensor for measuring electric fields and voltages, in place of a double-mode fiber extending between sensor head (15) and evaluating unit (14) two separate, similar double-mode fibers (5a, 5b) are connected in series in the manner of a tandem interferometer. The first double-mode fiber (5a), serving as sensor fiber, is operated in reflection geometry. Together with the sensor element (6), it is disposed in the sensor head (15). The second double-mode fiber (5b), serving as reference fiber, is situated within the separate evaluating unit (14). • Patent number: 5342170
Abstract: An axial-flow turbine has at least one row of bowed guide vanes (7) and at least one row of rotor blades. The bowing of the guide vanes (7) over the vane height is selected at right angles to the chord and is directed towards the pressure side of the respectively adjacent guide vane in the peripheral direction. The guide vanes are tapered in their radial extent. Secondary losses, which occur due to the deflection of the boundary layers in the guide vanes, are reduced by this measure.

  • Patent number: 5341283
Abstract: In a two-point or three-point inverter, a feedback circuitry is provided, which is disposed in parallel with a feedback capacitor (CR), and essentially include a semiconductor valve (SR) and a transformer (TR). As a result of switching the semiconductor valve (SR) once, the energy of the protective-circuit reactances, which have been stored in the feedback capacitor, is fed back into the link-circuit voltage source by the transformer. The arrangement according to the invention is distinguished by a high efficiency, accompanied at the same time by high turn-on/turn-off frequency of the semiconductor switch.

  • Patent number: 5340306
Abstract: A device for mixing two gaseous components, particularly in the context of a burner in which it is desired to mix the two gaseous components prior to combustion. The device includes a tangential inlet flow duct which opens into an inlet flow gap. A first gaseous component flows in through this inlet flow gap, and a second gaseous component flows through inlet flow nozzles provided in the region of the inlet flow gap. The arrangement achieves particularly intimate mixing, such that an improved burner is provided. Ramps are disposed in the region of the inlet flow duct, with the ramps including an end having a separation edge in the inlet flow gap. The inlet flow nozzles are arranged in the region around the separation edge such that mixing is promoted by longitudinal vortices occurring in the region.

  • Patent number: 5337554
Abstract: In a method for reducing the pressure of a gas (12) from a primary network, this gas (12) is first fed through a heat exchanger (9) whose temperature potential comes from the exhaust gases (8) of a gas turbine (2), this gas turbine (2) being a constituent part of a gas turbine group (1, 2, 3, 4). Downstream of this heat exchanger (9), the gas (14) is admitted to an expander (10) which drives a compressor (11). The reduced pressure gas (15) from the expander (10) is used to operate the combustion chamber (4) of the gas turbine group. The compressor (11) provides a certain quantity of compressor air (17) which is introduced into the compressor (1) of the gas turbine group. Because both the thermal treatment of the gas (12) from the primary network and the compressor air (17) become available by using internal energy released by the process, the electricity yield from the generator (3) of the gas turbine group is increased in a manner specific to efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5334927
Abstract: In the case of the multiphase switching system (1), each (for example L.sub.3) of the phase conductors is arranged in the course of a generator output line (2), which is arranged between a generator (7) and a network transformer (8), together with a switching apparatus, in encapsulation (5) which is insulated by air gaps, in a manner isolated from the other phase conductors. The switching system is intended to allow virtually all the switching, protection, and measurement functions occurring in a generator arrangement to be executed despite a compact and space-saving construction. This is achieved by the switching apparatus (three-position interrupter switch 10) having at least two switching positions. A first of these two switching positions is arranged between the generator (7) and an output of the switching system (1) which acts on the network transformer (8).

  • Patent number: 5331537
Abstract: Method of controlling electric valves of a converter using a universal algorithm for generating pilot signals (11) for multistage and multiphase line- and self-commutated converters (13, 14) is specified, by means of which it is possible to control different types of converters. The control algorithm can be realized as hardware or software. The invention is particularly suitable for multisystem locomotives. It is possible to change over to another feed system of the locomotive by a simple reprograming of a modulator (9) of a pilot signal generator (10). The modulator (9) and a pulse generator (8) receive modulator control signals (7) or pulse generator control signals (6) from a setter (5), together with which they form the pilot signal generator (10).

  • Patent number: 5323296
Abstract: The input and/or output device for process data exhibits a subrack (1) and at least one assembly (2) mounted on the subrack (1) and a process connector (4) which can be frictionally introduced into the at least one assembly at the front. The at least one assembly (2) exhibits a circuit board (17) arranged in a housing and a connector strip (18) which is frictionally connected to the process connector (4). • Patent number: 5313783
Abstract: In the case of a gas turbine, containing a turbine (10) and a compressor (11), it is intendeda) to increase the efficiency of the individual components (10, 11),b) to reduce the undesired exhaust gases, i.e. NOx formation.Means (21) of generating cooling air of higher quality are used. In particular, cooling air of higher quality can be generated by a booster (21) which contains a booster compressor (23) and a booster turbine (22). A further increase in efficiency is achieved by a heat exchangers (29, 30) on the booster (21). The booster turbine (21) is driven by the fuel and the booster compressor (23) compresses the compressed air generated in the compressor (12) to form the cooling air of higher quality. The advantage of this plant is the utilization of previously unused energy of natural gas.

  • Patent number: 5313184
Abstract: An electric resistor has a resistor body arranged between two contract terminals. This resistor core includes an element with PTC behavior which, below a material-specific temperature, forms an electrically conducting path running between the two contact terminals. The resistor can be simple and inexpensive, but still have a high rate current-carrying capacity protected against local and overall overvoltages. This is achieved by the resistor core additionally containing a material having varistor behavior. The varistor material is connected in parallel with at least one subsection of the electrically conducting path, forming at least one varistor, and is brought into intimate electrical contact with the part of the PTC material forming the at least one subsection. The parallel connection of the element with PTC behavior and the varistor can be realized both by a microscopic construction and by a macroscopic arrangement.
