  • Patent number: 6692675
Abstract: A method for producing a control valve assembly using a mold comprising an upper mold half (20) and a lower mold half (21). A shaft (11) with premounted bearing blocks (13) or other functional components is placed in the mold, and the control valves subsequently are injection-molded on the shaft (11) in cavities (22) via feeders (23) to produce the control valve assembly. Afterward, the bearing blocks (13) can no longer be detached. Because they are produced separately, the bearing blocks can have a complex geometry. This allows a considerable degree of freedom in the geometric design of the control valve assembly while nevertheless ensuring cost-effective production.

  • Patent number: 6688422
Abstract: A method and apparatus for actively influencing the intake noise of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus comprises a controller (7) which senses the actual noise (I) via a microphone (16) and compares the actual noise with a reference noise signal which depends on the engine speed D and at least one further engine parameter P, such as, for example, the throttle (12) position. A comparison signal V generated by comparing the actual noise to the reference noise value is used to adjust a control signal Asum, which also depends on the engine speed D. The control signal is fed to an electromechanical transducer (14) which generates a correcting noise (20) which is superimposed on the intake noise (21) to produce the resultant actual noise (22), which should correspond as closely as possible to the reference noise value.

  • Publication number: 20040020969
Abstract: To vibration weld two components (1, 2), which are to be joined together on a welding surface (8), a vibrational movement (7) is transmitted from a tool (3) to the vibrating component (1) while the other component (2) is fixed. During the procedure, the tool (3) presses the vibrating component (1) onto the fixed component (2) in a direction (9) substantially perpendicular to the vibrational movement (7). To avoid the need for a structured surface on the tool (3) in order to transmit the vibrational movement to the vibrating component, which structured surface could leave marks on the vibrating component, the vibrating component (1) has at least one relief-like depression (5) or elevation (6), which transmits the vibrational movement from the tool (3) to the vibrating component (1).

The pressure control valve (1) is arranged in such a way that the exit of the gas passage (7) leads directly into a volume with ambient pressure (Pamb). The membrane (5) includes a ventilation hole (9) through which the valve chamber (8) is directly pressurized with ambient pressure (Pamb).

  • Publication number: 20040003841
Abstract: A control valve assembly comprising at least two control valves which may be used, for example, to throttle the air intake of an internal combustion engine. The assembly is provided with a centrally arranged, force-transmitting shaft (32). The control valves are formed by blades (15) in frames (16) produced by an assembly injection molding process. The control valve blades (15) can be molded onto the force-transmitting shaft (32). The resulting assembly can be mounted or installed as a unit. Alternatively, instead of using a single continuous shaft, shaft projections can be injection molded on the valve blades, which terminate in lugs which engage in a rotationally secure manner in sockets in an adjacent valve assembly so that the two assemblies rotate together as a unit. The resulting control valve assembly is easy to install and advantageously takes up only a little space.

  • Patent number: 6672292
Abstract: A fluid inlet suitable for introducing a hot exhaust gas into the air intake tract of an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas is conducted through an inlet pipe (15) and a deflector (18) into the intake pipe or tract (13). A preferably tubular insert (23) is disposed in the intake tract (13). The insert has walls (22) which are oriented in the direction of flow of the aspirated exhaust gas. The fluid inlet reduces the thermal stress on the walls of the intake tract (13) to a minimum and makes high exhaust recovery or recirculation rates possible. In order to additionally support cooling of the insert, the insert may be provided with apertures (26) through which a secondary air current of the intake air which flows through an intermediate chamber (25) can shift to the interior of the tube in order to achieve film cooling of the insert (23).

  • Patent number: 6662954
Abstract: A filter cartridge comprising an annularly closed filter medium provided with end disks (16). Within the interior of the cartridge there is a support tube (24), which is made in one piece and has a radial sealing ring (25) in its interior. The outside diameter of the support tube is chosen such that the support tube can be inserted into the filter cartridge. This produces a sealing effect between the end disks (16) and the outer circumference of the support tube. The filter cartridge of the invention has the advantage of being cost-effective to produce and simple to assemble.

  • Publication number: 20030226792
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-layer filter element. The invention provides a main filter layer which preferably consists of a melt-blown fleece and has an absolute filtration capability. A paper layer (2) on the clean side supports the filter element and does not contribute to the filtering of the fluid to be filtered. Said layer can therefore have a macropore structure, thereby allowing a low flow resistance. A layer (3)on the clean side which preferably also consists of paper serves to pre-filter the fluid and to protect and support the main filter layer. The inventive design of the multi-layer filter material provides a means for economically producing filter elements, especially filter cartridges which are folded in the shape of a star, since no trellis protective layers are necessary. The invention also facilitates an improved thermal disposability of the proposed filter cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20030221398
Abstract: A cyclone arrangement for separating particles or droplets from a fluid stream, including at least two cyclones (1, 2, 3; 21, 22, 23), which have a tangential intake opening (4, 5, 6; 24, 25) for the fluid stream and set the fluid stream into rotation so that due to the resulting centrifugal force, particles or droplets to be separated from the fluid stream may be discharged from the cyclone separator through discharge openings (10, 11, 12). A plurality of cyclones are connected in parallel, and the intake openings (4, 5, 6) of the cyclones are closed or opened by a common slider (17; 24), which also has an opening (15, 16, 17; 24, 25) in the vicinity of each cyclone intake opening for passage of the fluid stream. The position and size of each slider opening is designed such that in various slider settings, the fluid stream will reach a different number of cyclone intake openings.

  • Patent number: 6655348
Abstract: A duct system suitable for use as an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, including flap valves (13) for selective opening and closing of the ducts. The positions of the valves are continuously adjustable in order to produce a swirl in the flow of combustion air. To achieve this, a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. A valve adjusting mechanism is provided in mechanical couplings (23) of the valve linkage between the position adjusting motor (19) and the flap valves (13).

  • Patent number: 6645379
Abstract: A filter element with a cylindrical structure having a filter medium 11 mounted to a support element 10. The filter medium 11 is fastened to the support element 10 in such a way that no relative movement between these components is possible. This creates a heavy-duty assembly between filter medium and support element and increases filter life. It is thus possible for the filter to withstand a pulsating load, e.g., caused by backwashing of the filter medium, without risk of destroying the sensitive filter medium due to vibrations or any relative movement between the support element and the filter medium. This assembly may be produced by mounting the filter medium under tension to the support element and by fixing it with a reinforcement strip 12. The use of valves with switching times of less than 0.4 seconds makes it possible to achieve extremely short backwash pulses to clean the filter without risk of failure of the filter medium.
