Abstract: An adhesive composition comprising an aqueous emulsion of polyacrylates sufficiently stabilized in part with a vinyl alcohol polymer, a tackifying resin and a plasticizer is disclosed, which adhesive has utility as a low hazard contact cement for bonding on contact numerous materials to various substrates under a wide range of environmental work conditions.
Abstract: A novel release sheet comprising a web of paper having a water absorption of at least about 200 seconds which has been sized on at least one side thereof with a water-soluble, alkaline earth or earth metal salt, e.g. a calcium salt such as calcium chloride and then coated on said sized side with a film of a mixture of a salt of alginic acid, such as sodium alginate, and either (1) a triglyceride or (2) hydrolyzed or non-hydrolyzed lecithin, and a method of producing decorative laminates therewith.

Abstract: Cellulosic paper sheets interleaved with sheets of a thermoplastic material having a glass transition point below about 100.degree. C. and a melting point of about 125.degree. C. or more provide a cushion for use in laminating operations. The thermoplastic sheets employed in the cushion have an individual thickness ranging from about 2 to 20 mils and a combined thickness of at least 5 mils. Such a cushion provides a long-term, reuseable cushion for laminating operations.
Abstract: A novel method of releasing from one another in a press pack, a plurality of heat and pressure consolidated resin-impregnated laminates, including those pressed back-to-back, e.g. decorative laminates, metal clad laminates, veneer backs and the like, which method comprises utilizing, as a separator sheet, a web of phenol-formaldehyde resin-free paper having a water absorption of at least about 200 seconds which has been sized on at least one side thereof, from an aqueous solution, with a water-soluble, alkaline earth or earth metal salt, e.g. a calcium salt such as calcium chloride, and then coated on said sized side with a film of a salt of alginic acid, such as sodium alginate.

Abstract: A resin composition comprisingA. the resinous reaction product of melamine, formaldehyde and diethylethanolamine,B. an ortho- or para-toluene sulfonamide,C. ethyleneglycol phenyl ether or diglycol amine andD. waterAnd a method for the production thereof, are disclosed.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed whereby a laminating press is controlled using the relative cure of a resinous material as the primary factor.
Abstract: A decorative article of manufacture having at least one face which can be glued to other surfaces by using common adhesives and may be painted with a variety of paints and stains is disclosed.
Abstract: A heat and pressure consolidated structure comprising, in superimposed relationship,(A) a self-supporting substrate, and(B) a decorative .alpha.-cellulose paper sheet impregnated with a composition comprising(1) a blend of an aqueous melamine/formaldehyde resin solution and from about 2% to about 20.0% of an ethylene glycol or (2) an aqueous solution of the resinous reaction product of melamine, formaldehyde and from about 2.0% to about 20.0% of an ethylene glycol, is disclosed.
