  • Publication number: 20240069114
Abstract: A method for determining the association of a sensor device with a battery unit. A first circuit includes a first battery unit. A second circuit includes a second battery unit. An electric current limiting device connects the circuits to one another. A first sensor device detects a voltage or a current associated with one of the first and second battery units while a second sensor device detects a voltage or a current associated with the other one of the first and second battery units. The method includes activating an electrical energy consumer or an electrical energy producer of the first circuit, and upon detection of a voltage change or a current change by one of the first and second sensor devices, determining that the one of the first and second sensor devices which detects a voltage change or a current change is associated with the first battery unit.

  • Publication number: 20240046718
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for safely parking a vehicle, wherein the vehicle comprises at least two vehicle axles, on each of which at least one axle load sensor is arranged. The method comprises the steps of: detecting the axle loads occurring on the at least two vehicle axles with the aid of the axle load sensors (S1); determining an axle load ratio for at least one of the vehicle axles on the basis of the detected axle loads (S2); and outputting a warning if the determined axle load ratio falls below a predetermined limit value (S3). As a result, it is possible—on the basis of the “on-board weighing system” usually present in commercial vehicles—to warn the driver of potentially critical parking positions, in particular on downhill slopes. The invention also relates to a corresponding warning device for carrying out this method and to a vehicle comprising such a warning device.

  • Patent number: 11885256
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine including feeding a pilot quantity of gas fuel, into a prechamber before a piston reaches a top dead center position. The method comprises autoignition of the pilot quantity of gas fuel in the prechamber, feeding a main quantity of gas fuel into the prechamber after the autoignition, and ignition of the main quantity of gas fuel by the conditions in the prechamber that are brought about by the autoignited pilot quantity. The method makes it possible to operate an internal combustion engine purely with methane or some other gaseous fuel, by means of compression autoignition of the pilot quantity.

  • Patent number: 11873779
Abstract: A reciprocating combustion engine includes at least one cylinder, in which a reciprocating piston is arranged back and forth movable. The reciprocating combustion engine includes a pin structure arranged on the combustion chamber side in the area of the cylinder head or the piston bottom. Due to the pin structure, local peak temperatures can be avoided during the combustion process, so that NOx emissions can be avoided or at least greatly reduced. A motor vehicle, for example a commercial vehicle, includes a reciprocating combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 11852096
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for operating a combustion engine. A main amount of gas fuel is fed via a pre-chamber into a main combustion chamber. An ignition quantity of gas fuel is fed into the pre-chamber before the piston reaches the upper dead center to form an air-gas fuel mixture in the pre-chamber, which is fatter than in the main combustion chamber. The air-gas fuel mixture in the pre-chamber ignites itself. The air-gas fuel mixture in the main combustion chamber ignites through the self-ignited air-gas fuel mixture in the pre-chamber.

  • Patent number: 11835013
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a cylinder head for covering a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The cylinder head comprises at least one material recess for heat isolation, which is formed in a main body of the cylinder head and is arranged between a fluid-guide channel and a cooling channel. The material recess can be produced e.g. directly during the shaping (e.g. casting or pressing) of the cylinder head and/or thereafter. For example, in the event that exhaust gas is guided through the fluid-guide channel, a significantly lower heat input occurs from the hot exhaust gas into the cooling fluid. In addition, the thermal decoupling via the material recess leads to the hot exhaust gas cooling to a lesser degree in the fluid-guide channel.

  • Patent number: 11732660
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (IO). The method includes generating a pressure pulse in an exhaust gas system of the internal combustion engine (IO). The method also includes supplying exhaust gas from a combustion chamber of a cylinder during an exhaust outlet stroke of the cylinder into an inlet channel of the cylinder by propagating the pressure pulse from the exhaust gas system into the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The method further includes supplying the exhaust gas from the inlet channel of the cylinder into the combustion chamber of the cylinder during an intake stroke of the cylinder. By means of internal residual gas control (residual exhaust gas control), the method permits the exhaust gas temperature to be raised in at low load without negatively influencing the full load performance of the internal combustion engine (IO).

  • Patent number: 11719186
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a piston for an internal combustion engine. The piston comprises a cover which at least partially covers a piston basehead of the piston. A heat-isolating air gap is formed between the cover and the piston basehead, which is fluidically connected to a combustion chamber and/or an upper side of the cover facing away from the heat-isolating air gap. The fluidic connection permits a fluid exchange to take place between the heat-isolating air gap and the combustion chamber. In this way, a pressure gradient can be reduced between the combustion chamber and the heat-isolating air gap. As a result, the cover is/can be kept thin without being deformed during combustion.
