  • Patent number: 5218594
Abstract: An optical waveguide recording medium has optical waveguides on which minute refractive-index discontinuous portions for generating multiple reflected waveguide lights of different amplitudes and phases can be aligned in accordance with information to be recorded. A recorded-information reproducing apparatus splits a light beam from a light-emitting element into two, guides one of the split beams to the optical waveguides, and causes interference between a signal light reflected after modulation of the amplitude and phase of part of the guided beams and a light acquired by applying a frequency shift to the other beam to obtain an optical heterodyne output, thereby reproducing information recorded as a time-series signal waveform.

  • Patent number: 5140433
Abstract: A noise reduction circuit in a recording medium player is disclosed in which the time-axis of a video signal read out from a memory to be used for noise reduction is changed by a shift command signal for changing the time-axis of a video signal in order to keep the continuity of the phase of a color burst in special playback operation. Owing to the arrangement, even in a special playback operation, the phases of a chrominance signal and a luminance signal contained in a read out video signal, and those of a chrominance signal and a luminance signal contained in a video signal as a signal to be mixing-processed coincide with each other, which makes it possible to prevent the blur in a played back picture.

  • Patent number: 5123002
Abstract: A servo device for a disc player detects when the level of an error signal formed according to the output signal of the pickup is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, to provide a detection output. The device also detects when the frequency of the error signal is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, to provide another detection output. Then, it is determined from these detection outputs whether, during the closure of the servo loop, an oscillation occurs within the servo system by the servo convergence or by external interruption, so that the oscillation of the servo system can be positively detected and servo convergence resumed. The system may be implemented in either hardware or software.

  • Patent number: 5089900
Abstract: In an optical disk recording/reproducing apparatus, a spindle control device in which a vertical synchronizing mark is detected so as to generate a synchronizing mark detection signal. A time base reference signal is generated at the same time, that signal being delayed by a variable delay circuit so as to perform phase control on a spindle motor for rotating the optical disk in accordance with a phase difference of the synchronizing mark detection signal from the delayed time base reference signal. Accordingly, it is easy to adjust, electrically, the relative position on the time base between the vertical synchronizing mark detection timing and a composite video signal to be recorded, by adjusting suitably the amount of delay of the variable delay circuit, without having to adjust the vertical synchronizing mark detector positionally.
