  • Patent number: 4999710
Abstract: A television (TV) signal receiving apparatus displays a TV signal of a high definition system using a TV receiver of an NTSC system with the high picture quality of the high definition system. An A/D converter converts an analog TV signal of a high definition system to a digital signal. A memory stores the digital signal and a vertical filter converts a number of horizontal scanning lines of the TV signal of the high definition system into a number of horizontal scanning lines of a TV signal of an NTSC system. The ratio of horizontal scanning lines of the high definition TV signal to horizontal scanning lines of the NTSC TV signal is 5 to 7. The horizontal scanning lines are divided into three portions in the vertical direction and four portions in the scanning direction and are supplied to twelve CRTs (monitors). The CRTs are arranged in three rows and four columns to form a picture plane.

  • Patent number: 4943964
Abstract: PCM signals belonging to a first reproduction channel and a second reproduction channel and grouped into odd number data and even number data are previously recorded on a recording medium having a plurality of tracks in the form of frames each including at least a set of a first track and a second track. In the operation of reproducing the recorded PCM data, the PCM data reproduced by reproduction heads are stored in accordance with a first control signal, errors in the stored reproduced data are detected in accordance with a second control signal, the numbers of errors are counted, comparison is made between the error number of the odd number data and that of the even number data of the first channel and of the second channel, respectively, and the data which has been judged to include a larger number of errors are replaced by interpolated data and finally the interpolated data are mute-processed at the boundary between adjacent frames.

  • Patent number: 4914646
Abstract: An optical pickup device for supplying a correct focus error signal. The optical pickup device includes a light source for generating a light beam; a recording medium for receiving and reflecting the light beam; and a photo-detector for receiving the reflected light beam from the recording medium and for outputting a focus error signal of the light beam. The photo-detector is divided into at least two regions and includes a reference portion within the at least two regions. When the light beam received by the photo-detector is not within the reference portion of the photo-detector, a portion of the light beam is not detected by at least one of the at least two regions, thereby supplying a correct focus error signal.

  • Patent number: 4885733
Abstract: A system for detecting an excessive loading condition of multiple disks in an optical disk reading apparatus. In the system, a parking position of a pickup is established at a predetermined position between respective outer circumferences of a first large-diameter disk and a second small-diameter disk. Upon application of a predetermined input for initiating a reproduction operation, a focusing servo is locked-in or initially focused at the parking position. The pickup is then moved to a lead-in region which is at an inner circumference of the first disk. If the lock-in of the focusing servo is released (i.e., a substantial variation in focusing is sensed) during movement of the pickup, a predetermined operation amounting to an alarm indication is performed to indicate that there is an excessive loading condition of multiple disks in the video disk apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4847827
Abstract: An optical information recording disk is formed by a pair of disk-like substrates with an inner and an outer annular spacer member disposed therebetween. The inner spacer member supports an inner circumferential portion of each of the disk-like substrates, and the outer spacer member supports an outer circumferential portion of each of the disk-like substrates. The spacer members and substrates thus define an interior space. The spacer members and substrates are fixed together by means of a thermosetting adhesive agent. A notched portion is formed in at least one of the space members so as to communicate the interior of the disk with the ambient atmosphere. Thus, during heating of the disk for purposes of joining the substrates and spacers by hardening the adhesive agent, air in the interior space in the disk can escape through the notched portion. After heating, the notched portion is filled with a sealing member such as a solid member or another adhesive agent.

  • Patent number: 4747116
Abstract: A sync signal detecting device includes a circuit for generating a sync signal pattern corresponding to an expected sync signal pattern contained in a digital signal, a circuit for comparing the digital signal with the sync signal pattern to detect a sync signal in the digital signal, a circuit for detecting errors in the digital signal, and a counter for counting the errors thus detected. A sync detection signal is outputted when, where no error is detected, the sync pattern is detected, and when, where errors are detected, the number of errors detected is a predetermined value or less and the part of the digital signal which is not coincident with the sync signal pattern is the part where the errors have been detected.

  • Patent number: 4633342
Abstract: A rotary head type magnetic recording and reproducing device in which sub-code data can readily and accurately be read from an inclined track recorded on the tape when the tape is moving at a high speed in either direction. The rotational position of the rotary head is sensed. When the head is at a predetermined angular position, its rotation is stopped by a brake mechanism. The sub-code data is then reproduced from the tape.

  • Patent number: 4393513
Abstract: An input signal level control device for a receiver particularly adapted for use in a mobile FM receiver in which the received electric field strength changes abruptly and greatly. An attenuating device such as a switching diode is coupled to an input of a high frequency amplifier to which the input received signal is fed. The attenuating device switches on when the received electric field strength reaches the first predetermined value. As the electric field strength continues to increase and reaches a second value greater than the first, a control circuit controls the gain of the high frequency amplifier in accordance with the electric field strength.
