  • Patent number: 8556529
Abstract: An applicator includes an applicator body, an applicator pad attached at a front part of the applicator body, and a pre-loaded container of liquid received in \ the applicator body. The applicator body defines a flow path from the container to the applicator pad. The container includes a front closure portion which is openable to allow liquid to flow from the container into the flow path. The applicator body has a structure which interacts with the front of the container when the container is moved to an opening position relative to the applicator body to open the openable front closure portion. Wherein the container defines a front chamber and a rear chamber with a liquid-impermeable intermediate barrier therebetween. Wherein the container includes a longitudinal pusher element extending relatively movably between the ends of the front chamber.

  • Patent number: 8528795
Abstract: A dosing device for dispensing liquid from a container (1) in which flow through flow openings (23) to an outlet tube (44) is blocked after controlled delay by an obturator (3) moveable within a control chamber (2) mounted in a container neck (101) behind the outlet tube (44). Movement of the obturator (3) is governed by restricted flow through control openings (28) at the rear of the control chamber. Restoration of the obturator to the back of the control chamber facilitates repeated dosing. An elastomeric element (6) of resiliently deformable material promotes a seal to achieve a cleanly defined dose. In one proposal the elastomeric element coats the surface of the obturator and/or the outlet tube (64) to cut off the flow. Another proposal provides a one-way elastomeric valve element (63) for blocking the flow openings to enable rapid recovery after a dosing operation.

  • Patent number: 8418889
Abstract: An inverted dispenser pump is used to dispense foam. The dispenser pump includes an air cylinder with an air piston to pump air to form the foam along with a liquid cylinder that has a liquid cylinder piston to pump liquid to form the foam. A conduit shell is received over the liquid cylinder in order to draw fluid when in an inverted state. An intake valve member is received around the opening of the conduit shell. The intake valve member has a seal flap configured to seal against the conduit shell opening in order to reduce flow restrictions of liquid drawn into the liquid cylinder.

  • Patent number: 8118193
Abstract: The application describes small hand-held dispensers suitable for use with creamy flowable products such as cosmetics. The dispensers are of a kind having a top plate (4) with a dished pick-up surface (42), and a product discharge opening (43) opening into the pick-up area (42). Specific proposals include positioning the pick-up surface (42) and an actuator (8) side-by-side on the top plate. The actuator (8) operates a pump (6), desirably positioned beneath the actuator and offset from the pick-up surface (42). A corresponding transverse outlet conduit (69) may be provided. The container (1) may be plastics or a metal container. Embodiments using plastic pump springs and resiliently deformable pump chamber walls are also described. Also, embodiments in which actuation is by tilting of the top plate in its entirety, the pick-up area then optionally being central.

  • Patent number: 7997440
Abstract: A closure assembly for a container including an internally-threaded annular flange, an externally-threaded closure plug that is received by the annular flange, and an annular gasket positioned between the annular flange and the closure plug for establishing a sealed interface. The container includes a container end panel that is formed over and around a portion of the annular flange and provides an inner axial wall that is positioned between the annular flange and the annular gasket. The clearance between the closing plug and the inner axial wall relative to the size of the annular gasket determines the degree of radial compression of the annular gasket as the plug is threaded into the flange. A radial lip of the plug is designed to contact an upper surface of the container end panel that is formed over the flange as a visual indication when the required tightening torque of the plug within the flange has been reached.

  • Patent number: 7938297
Abstract: Certain pump dispensers, for example foam dispensers, are specially adapted for inverted use. One feature especially useful in a foam dispenser having both an air cylinder and a liquid cylinder with respective pistons is an intake conduit arrangement to increase the clearance of liquid from the container. An intermediate shell fits over the upright liquid cylinder body and carries an inlet valve positively urged upward to the closed position to prevent leaking. A conduit shell fits over the intermediate shell and creates an intake conduit extending down the side of the liquid cylinder to an intake opening lower down the pump body.

  • Patent number: 7891522
Abstract: An airless dispenser pump assembly includes a pump mechanism with an inlet valve that is configured to efficiently pump viscous fluids and that is able to be pre-primed when the pump mechanism is attached to a container. In one form, the inlet valve includes a seal member that seals an inlet port of the pump and an outer support member that secures the inlet valve to the rest of the pump mechanism. Two or more legs generally extend in a circumferential direction between the support member and the seal member in order to create a large flow opening for fluid flow through the inlet valve when opened and to rapidly close the inlet valve. The pump mechanism further includes an outlet valve that is configured to draw fluid back from a nozzle of the pump after dispensing in order to minimize build up around the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7802701
Abstract: Current designs of dispensers often do not allow for proper ventilation. Additionally, current designs often do not permit proper liquid sealing during shipment. The disclosed apparatus can overcome these shortcomings. This foam dispenser comprises a container, a cylinder device, a collar connected to the cylinder device, the collar operably connecting the container with the cylinder device, and a seal located on the collar, wherein the seal expands under compression to a locked position to create an airtight and liquid tight seal substantially preventing air and liquid from entering or exiting the cylinder device.

  • Patent number: 7802827
Abstract: A closing ring for a container and lid combination for securing the lid to the container includes a ring body having first and second free ends to be drawn together in order to secure the lid to the container. A link clevis and a lever clevis are welded to the free ends. A link is pivotally connected to the link clevis. A lever is pivotally connected to the lever clevis. The linkage arrangement is completed by connecting the link to the lever at a third pivot connection. A movable locking projection is assembled to the lever clevis for engaging the lever during an opening attempt wherein this engaging prevents the opening of the ring body until the movable locking projection is moved out of its engaging position relative to the lever.
