  • Patent number: 7131177
Abstract: A gasket singulation apparatus for separating one gasket from a web-connected stack of gaskets includes a mandrel for receiving the web-connected stack and an arrangement of cylinders which are used to support the web-connected stack of gaskets and to pull one gasket away from the remainder of the web-connected stack so as to singulate that one gasket. A first plurality of cylinders are used to support the web-connected stack. A second plurality of cylinders are used to pierce any connecting material between the gasket to be singulated and the remainder of the stack. Once the web material is pierced, cylinder movement is effected so as to pull the selected gasket away from the stack, allowing any connecting material to sever and thereby singulate one gasket from the stack. Once the gasket is singulated, various insertion mechanisms are disclosed for inserting the singulated gasket into a pail lid groove.

  • Patent number: 7121437
Abstract: A fluid dispensing system includes a closure assembly. The closure assembly is configured to enclose a container opening. The closure assembly has a fluid supply tube with an opening and a shut-off valve threadedly coupled to the supply tube. The shut-off valve has a valve member configured to close the opening in the supply tube upon rotating the shut-off valve in a first direction and to open the opening in the supply tube upon rotating the shut-off valve in a second direction. A cap assembly is coupled to the closure assembly. The cap assembly has a connector member with a fluid passage fluidly coupled to the supply tube. The cap assembly is coupled to the shut-off valve to rotate the shut-off valve in the first direction and the second direction. The configuration of the system eliminates the need for spring based valves.

  • Patent number: 7108149
Abstract: A blow-molded, plastic paint container for storing and dispensing paint includes a blow-molded container body defining an externally-threaded neck portion, an injection molded plastic closing cap, internally-threaded so as to be threadedly securable to the neck portion for closing the container body, a liner assembled into the closing cap and a depending annular wall positioned between the neck portion and the liner in order to cause any paint skin that forms to be formed into two portions, one portion being adjacent to the liner and the other portion being adjacent to the container body. Each paint skin portion adhering to its corresponding structural portion of the paint container and remaining intact. In a related embodiment, the annular wall is replaced with three cutting blades.

  • Publication number: 20060043117
Abstract: An airless dispenser pump assembly includes a pump mechanism with an inlet valve that is configured to efficiently pump viscous fluids and that is able to be pre-primed when the pump mechanism is attached to a container. In one form, the inlet valve includes a seal member that seals an inlet port of the pump and an outer support member that secures the inlet valve to the rest of the pump mechanism. Two or more legs generally extend in a circumferential direction between the support member and the seal member in order to create a large flow opening for fluid flow through the inlet valve when opened and to rapidly close the inlet valve. The pump mechanism further includes an outlet valve that is configured to draw fluid back from a nozzle of the pump after dispensing in order to minimize build up around the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6968968
Abstract: A container closure assembly for closing the neck opening of a container includes a closure plug for threaded engagement with the neck opening, a sealing gasket positioned between the container and the closure plug, and a unitary, molded plastic overcap constructed and arranged for assembly to the closure plug. The overcap includes a top portion defining a pair of weakened score lines that partition the top portion into three sections. A surrounding sidewall connects a pair of flange sections to first and second outer sections of the top portion. A center post axially extends from the center section and includes external threads for engagement with internal threads on the closure plug. The overcap includes a raised portion in unitary construction with the top portion and spanning the pair of weakened score lines so as to visually reveal stress discoloration upon upward movement of the first and second outer sections.

  • Patent number: 6874656
Abstract: A vented closure for closing and venting a container with threaded engagement to a neck portion of the container for dispensing fluid from the container includes a unitary, molded plastic cap constructed and arranged for threaded engagement to the container. The threaded cap defines a septum orifice that is sized and arranged to receive a siphon tube. A gasket is assembled into the threaded cap for sealing the interfit between the vented closure and the container. An elastomeric venting valve is assembled into the threaded cap and the venting valve includes a septum with a slit therein for receiving in a self-sealing manner the siphon tube. A retainer ring is used to capture the venting valve within the threaded cap and a safety ring in unitary combination with the threaded cap retains the vented closure on the container.
