The method includes determining whether a caller profile associated with the caller is available. The method includes searching at least two networks in response to determining that the caller profile is not available. The method includes creating the caller profile based on the search of the at least two networks and populating a caller identification portal with at least one of a plurality identification characteristics included in the caller profile.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at an analog telephony adapter unit, a voice over internet protocol call signal including a caller identifier. The caller identifier includes a calling number and a billing name associated with the calling number. The method further includes retrieving an alias (or display name) associated with the calling number from a personal address book. The processor also sends the encrypted digital moving picture experts group transport stream signal to a modulator.

The upper layer packet includes a virtual private network identification identifying a destination. The method also includes authenticating the upper layer packet at the egress edge device using the virtual private network identification. Upon authentication, the upper layer packet is decapsulated into a lower layer packet for the destination.

The mitigator checks the signal for complex impulse noise comprising at least a first periodic impulse noise component correlated to a first portion of a sinusoid representing frequency of an alternating current power source associated with the transmission source and a second periodic impulse noise component correlated to a second portion of the sinusoid. The method further includes receiving noise mitigation instructions from the mitigator at the transmission source to compensate for the complex impulse noise.
