Abstract: A method is disclosed for sending targeted advertising data, the method including monitoring in a plurality of data communications networks, single sign on (SSO) subscriber event data from a first SSO subscriber end user device and a second SSO subscriber end user device, calculating product interest correlation scores in a plurality of advertising categories for an SSO subscriber advertising profile based on the monitoring SSO subscriber event data, selecting advertising data in at least one of the advertising categories from an advertiser database based on the SSO subscriber advertising profile, selecting a format to deliver the selected advertising data to a third SSO subscriber end user device and sending the targeted advertising data to the third SSO subscriber end user device. A system and a computer program are disclosed for performing the method. A data structure is disclosed for providing an interrelationship between a processor and data structure data.

Abstract: A computerized method for selecting a host web site for hosting advertising data is disclosed the method including characterizing in a data communications network, data communications for a plurality of end user devices for each of a plurality of subscribers to the data communication network between the data communication network and each of a plurality of potential host web sites; profiling each of the plurality of potential host web sites for advertising performance based on the characterizing data communications and subscriber profile data for the plurality of subscribers stored in the data communications network; and selecting one of the plurality of potential host web sites as a selected host web site for the advertising data based on the selected host web site advertising performance. A system and a computer program are also disclosed for performing the method.

Abstract: A computerized method and system are disclosed for presenting information in an internet protocol television (IPTV) system. The method includes sensing at an end user device, reference data inserted into a video data stream from the IPTV system, weighting at the end user device, the reference data sensed in the video data stream based on a data type for the sensed reference data and presenting at the end user device the information selected based on the weighted reference data concurrently with the video data stream. A system for performing the method and a computer readable medium containing a computer program for performing the method are disclosed. A data structure embedded in a computer readable medium for providing a structural and functional interrelationship between data stored in the data structure and computer hardware and software is disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a pattern recognizer configured to identify a match of an image of a portion of a bill to one of a plurality of templates. The pattern recognizer is configured to use a rotation-invariant pattern matching algorithm. The apparatus further includes an output device to provide an indication when the match has been identified.

Abstract: A method for multicasting targeted advertising data to end user devices is disclosed. In an illustrative embodiment the method includes but is not limited to correlating at a regional internet protocol television (IPTV) server, multicast queue data with web data from web sites visited by each of a plurality of end user devices associated with the regional IPTV server; selecting a subgroup of end user devices from the plurality of end user devices to receive targeted advertising data correlating with a member of the multicast queue data; and multicasting targeted advertising data associated with the member of the multicast queue data to the subgroup of end user devices from the regional IPTV server. A system is also disclosed for multicasting targeted advertising data to end user devices. A data structure is disclosed for storing data used by the system and method.

Abstract: Mobile terminals, such as cell phones, having an internal memory and operating in a GSM wireless network environment with a SIM, store private content such as images, ring tones, buddy lists, email and the like, in the terminal memory. The private content is associated with the IMSI/MSISDN information of the content owner. The terminal correlates the IMSI/MSISDN information of the SIM with the IMSI/MSISDN information of the private content to grant access to the content only upon a positive content/SIM correlation.

Abstract: An intelligent email detection and auto reply email tool is disclosed. A method includes receiving an incoming email, determining whether the incoming email requires a response; and after determining that the incoming email requires a response, generating an auto reply email to the incoming email, wherein the incoming email is processed to determine characteristics of the auto reply email. Email sent to customers can have a no-reply origination address and control identifiers that then are recognized on incoming replies. The control identifiers can include such information as application information that identifies an application that generated the email (billing, marketing, order confirmation), region information, and an auto reply email count. The auto reply email can be associated with a web-based customer feedback tool including, for example, a dynamic web page that directly intelligently interlinks the customer to a web based email feedback system.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for testing a fiber optic component having two ends includes a device having a sensor, an alarm, and a connector assembly having different types of connectors each being operable to connect the device to either end of a corresponding type of fiber optic component. Upon a connector of the connector assembly connecting the device to the second end of the fiber optic component and upon a light signal being transmitted into the first end of the component for the component to conduct to the second end of the component, the sensor determines a power level of the light signal at the second end of the component and the alarm generates an alarm signal when the power level of the light signal at the second end of the component is greater than a given threshold.

Abstract: A method is provided that can be used for modifying a control parameter associated with a digital subscriber line (DSL) service. Initially, a real-time performance parameter is received from a first termination unit that is coupled to an DSL circuit. The real-time performance parameter is measured at the termination unit after the termination unit is provisioned and after the DSL circuit is placed in-service. A value of a control parameter associated with the DSL circuit can be modified based on the measured real-time performance parameter. Further, activity over the DSL circuit can be monitored in real-time and when usage of the DSL circuit is below a threshold, the provisionable service parameter that corresponds to the control parameter is modified. Moreover, a first re-provisioning cycle between the first termination unit and a second termination unit coupled to the DSL circuit can be initiated using the provisionable service parameter.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for data communication in an internet protocol television (IPTV) system. The method includes receiving at a first end user device remote advertising data associated with a remote zone and home content data, wherein the home content data is not available in the remote zone and merging the remote advertising data and the home video data at the first end user device. A system is disclosed for performing the method.

Abstract: An ultra wideband adapter and a system including the ultra wideband adapter are disclosed. The ultra wideband adapter includes a first input to receive video from a passive optical network element, a second input to receive data from the passive optical network element, an ultra wideband modulator to modulate the received data, a diplexer to diplex the received video with the modulated ultra wideband data to provide a diplexed video, and an output to transmit the diplexed video.

Abstract: A method of evaluating automatic message accounting records associated with telephony calls that originate at a local exchange carrier telephony office and that are routed over an inter-exchange carrier telephony facility is disclosed. The method comprises collecting originating automatic message accounting records associated with the originating local exchange carrier telephony office, and collecting terminating automatic message accounting records that correspond to the originating automatic message accounting records. A first portion of the terminating automatic message accounting records have a terminating access code and a second portion of the terminating automatic message accounting records have a local termination code.

Abstract: In a particular embodiment a method of collecting and processing modem data is provided. The method includes, during training of a broadband modem, sending a series of tones within a frequency transmission band of the broadband modem, receiving the transmitted series of tones at a receiving broadband modem, receiving a measurement value, determining a transmission loss for each of the series of tones by comparing the predetermined transmission power level, and the received measured power level, performing a statistical match comparison between each of the received tone signals and a plurality of different computer models of a single transmission facility having various bridge taps connected to the single transmission facility, and determining a best fit between each of the received tone signals and one of the plurality of the bridge tap computer models. The series of tones have a predetermined transmission power level.

Abstract: A method of facilitating calls includes receiving a message at a mediation server from a first device associated with a first packet-based network, the message relating to a second device associated with a second packet-based network. The method also includes identifying first connection information relating to the first device, where the first connection information includes a set of call receipt rules that relates to a format of packet-based data that is acceptable to the first device. The method also includes sending, in response to the message, second connection information related to the second device from the mediation server to the first device.

Abstract: A method and system for coupling a second wire pair to a communications service are disclosed. The system includes a first connector for receiving an electrical connection to a first wire pair. The first wire pair provides a communication service to a customer location. The system also includes a second connector for receiving an electrical connection to a second wire pair. The system also includes a circuit coupling the first connector to the second connector. Connecting the first connector to the first wire pair and connecting the second connector to the second wire pair activates the communication service on the second wire pair.

Abstract: A light fixture has an outer housing having a top outer wall, outer side walls extending substantially perpendicularly from the outer edges of the top outer wall, an inner housing having a top inner wall, and inner side walls extending substantially perpendicularly from the inner edges of the top inner wall. A lamp receiving socket is attached to the inner housing. The outer housing includes an opening adapted to connect to a ventilation system. First and second channels are defined between the top outer wall and the first outer and inner side walls, and the top outer wall and the second outer and inner side walls, respectively. Each of the first and second channels have a width that is approximately ? the distance between the first and second outer side walls.

Abstract: A method includes partitioning a set of hopping carrier frequencies into disjoint sets including a first set and a second set such that a frequency correlation between a first hopping carrier frequency of the first set and a second hopping carrier frequency of the second set is approximately zero. The method also includes generating at least one copy of a signal, which includes a plurality of time division multiple access (TDMA) frames. The at least one copy of the signal has a fixed delay and a random phase relative to the signal. The method further includes transmitting the signal and the at least one copy of the signal using selected hopping carrier frequencies from the first and second sets such that a TDMA frame is sent using the first hopping carrier frequency from the first set and an adjacent second frame is sent using the second hopping carrier frequency from the second set.

Abstract: A method of establishing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications is provided. The method includes establishing a virtual circuit to carry VoIP traffic via a first Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) session and to carry other data traffic via a second PPPoE session. The first PPPoE session and the second PPPoE session are supported by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM).

Abstract: A method of recognizing an event transpiring at a terminal device is disclosed. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a terminal device having a User Interface (UI) element that radiates at least one among a light emission pattern and a tactile emission pattern for recognizing one among a caller ID during an incoming call initiated by a calling party and a voicemail associated with the calling party when the incoming call is unanswered. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A mobile telephone comprises a ringer to provide an audible alert of an incoming telephone call. The mobile telephone has a ringer control schedule. The ringer control schedule indicates times at which a parameter of the ringer is to change. The mobile telephone further comprises a ringer controller to automatically change the parameter of the ringer according to the ringer control schedule.
