Abstract: A method of managing configuration profiles for a plurality of network elements after the network elements have been deployed in a network. The method including retrieving configuration profiles from the network elements after the network elements have been deployed in the network; storing the retrieved configuration profiles in a database; and distributing one or more of the stored configuration profiles to one or more network elements experiencing fault conditions to facilitate the correction thereof.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are disclosed to enable backup wireless devices. An example method disclosed herein includes receiving a first activation code from a first wireless device, comparing the first activation code associated with the first wireless device with a first activation code in a database, activating the first wireless device when the first activation code associated with the first wireless device matches the first activation code in the database, and when a second wireless device is active, deactivating the second wireless device in response to receipt of the first activation code associated with the first wireless device.

Abstract: A method and system for forecasting telephony traffic trends on a network of a given service provider includes storing number portability records in a database. Each record contains information regarding a corresponding telephone number having been ported between service providers. First and second images of the database are obtained at first and second times. The first and second images are indicative of the records stored in the database at the first and second times. The images are compared to determine migration of the ported telephone numbers between the service providers. Movement of telephone traffic on the network of the given service provider is forecasted as a function of the determined migration of the ported telephone numbers between the service providers.

Abstract: A dual-mode broadband modem operative to operate in a service mode and a surveillance mode is disclosed. Generally, the dual-mode broadband modem comprises a primary communication device; a secondary communication device; a central processing unit in communication with the primary and secondary communication devices; and a memory unit in communication with the central processing unit. In the service mode, the primary communication device communicates with a broadband service provider and the central processing unit stores historical information regarding performance of the primary communication device in the memory unit. If an interruption in broadband service is detected, or the performance of the primary communication device falls below a predetermined threshold, the dual-mode broadband modem switches to surveillance mode and the secondary communication device is activated.

Abstract: A method and system for processing data packets is described within. The method executed by the system includes the steps of receiving a first data packet, determining if the first data packet is a first expected data packet, determining if the first data packet is a next expected date packet, storing the first data patent if the first data packet is the next expected data packet and waiting a period of time for a second data packet.

Abstract: A custom ringtone provisioning device is configured to determine user selectable audio options available for generating a digital audio recording based on ringtone capabilities of a mobile communication device of a user, display the available user selectable audio options for the user to select, generate the digital audio recording using the user selectable audio options selected by the user, and transmit the generated digital audio recording to a server for the server to convert the generated digital audio recording into a customized ringtone for use by the mobile communication device in alerting the user of incoming communications.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a controller to determine a behavioral profile of an end user from packet traffic generated by activities of the end user, and share the behavioral profile with a network element for distributing targeted advertisements to the end user according to the behavioral profile. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A communications system is described for enforcing a service level agreement for a specified customer on a network. The communications system includes a router to receive at least one packet containing data. A management system is in communication with the router, where the management system provides access control commands to the router for the specified customer based upon an agreed upon codec and an agreed upon packet length. A detection system is in communication with the router. The detection system extracts a codec information and a packet length information from the packet. If the codec matches the agreed upon codec and the packet length matches the agreed upon packet length, then the packet is allowed to proceed. Otherwise the packet is dropped from the network.

Abstract: A synchronous optical network (SONET) system having multi-hierarchal network service access point (NSAP) addressing includes electrically linked network elements (NEs) and first and second level routing areas which each include at least one NE. The NEs include devices having respective NSAP addresses and at least one of the NEs is a network controller that controls the SONET. The first level routing area and the second level routing areas are based on a predetermined prioritization of the NEs as first level NEs and second level NEs, and have a first level routing and having a second level routing for the NSAP addresses, respectively. Each NSAP address includes a Routing Domain field and an Area field filled with information indicative of a respective Internet Protocol (IP) address.

Abstract: A call processor records a message from a facility phone for a destination phone upon a first collect call from the facility phone to the destination phone being terminated when the first collect call is rejected at the destination phone. In response to the message having been recorded, the call processor completes a second collect call to the destination phone upon the second collect call being accepted at the destination phone. The call processor delivers the message to the destination phone during the second collect call, records a response to the message from the destination phone during the second collect call after the message has been delivered, and stores the response for subsequent retrieval by a facility phone.

Abstract: A technique for near real-time reporting of telephone number usage to a computer is disclosed. According to the technique, signaling protocol data is collected for telephone calls that involve telephone numbers associated with the user. The signaling protocol data is decoded and call information records (CIRs) are generated from the decoded signaling data. The CIRs contain information about calls associated with the telephone numbers. The CIRs are used to generate a report which is made available to the user.

Abstract: Method of augmenting a deployed network to include additional network elements. The method includes instructions for determining whether a deployed network is sufficient for supporting existing customer and future customer demands and generating an augmented network design if the deployed network is insufficient. The augmented network design includes new network nodes such that deployed network is a subset of the augmented network, thereby permitting augmenting of the deployed network without interruption services to the existing customers supported by the deployed network.

The unit receives respective videos of the first persons and a video of the second persons and outputs: the videos of the first persons to a central display at the central location such that the first persons are displayed on respective portions of the central display; the video of the second persons to remote displays respectively at the remote locations such that the second persons are displayed on one portion of each remote display; the video of one of the first persons to the display of another one of the first persons such that the one person is displayed on another portion of this display; and the video of the other person to the display of the one person such that the other person is displayed on another portion of this display.

Abstract: A method for qualifying a telephone line for very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (“VDSL”) service is disclosed. Generally, a telephone line for VDSL service is prequalified based on a length of the telephone line. A VDSL rate of the telephone line is measured and it is determined whether to qualify as VDSL data qualified based on the measured VDSL rate and a VDSL rate threshold. A VDSL video quality of the telephone line is measured and it is determined whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL video qualified based on the measured VDSL video quality. Finally, a network database is updated with the determined VDSL data and video qualifications of the telephone line.

Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a video stream processing system and to a system and method of displaying a video stream. In a particular embodiment, the method includes receiving a video stream to be displayed on a display device. During a first time period, a low resolution version of the video stream is displayed while a full resolution version of the video stream is being recovered. The method further includes synchronizing the low resolution version of the video stream with the full resolution version of the video stream, and, during a second time period after the first time period, switching between display of the low resolution version of the video stream to display of the full resolution version of the video stream.

Abstract: A system for enabling an inmate to make a telephone call to a called party telephone located outside of a correctional facility includes a facility network having inmate and prepaid platforms associated with a PSTN. A called party provides the prepaid platform with information regarding a prepaid card purchased by the called party and the called party telephone number. The prepaid platform associates the telephone number with a prepaid account of the called party, determines value of the prepaid card based on its information, and then transfers the value to the prepaid account. An inmate uses an inmate telephone within the facility to make a telephone call to the called party telephone via the PSTN. The network completes the call if the call is authorized, the called party has a prepaid account associated with the telephone number, and the value of the prepaid account is sufficient for paying for the call.

Abstract: A system includes a network interface, a speech input conversion component, and a routing module. Speech input is received in connection with a call. At least a segment of the speech input is transformed into a first textual format. A first list of entries is generated based, at least partially, on consideration of the first textual format. The first list includes at least one action with a corresponding confidence level and at least one object with another corresponding confidence level. An entry of the first list having a higher corresponding confidence level is selected, and a second textual format is output. A second list is generated based, at least partially, on consideration of the selected entry and the second textual format. A routing option is suggested based on the selected entry and a pairing entry in the second list.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to route communications at an interexchange carrier are disclosed. One method of routing communications may include receiving a communication at the interexchange carrier, determining a destination at which the communication is to terminate, and routing the communication from the interexchange carrier through a terminating access charge free line to a terminating mobile telephone switching office.
