  • Patent number: 11985561
Abstract: Restricting mobility between networks by identifying and rejecting incoming mobility events (e.g. handovers) from unknown cell sites based on a cellID included in a handover request. Core network nodes e.g. MME, AMF, SMF, can detect and reject the incoming mobility events by comparing Cell ID with a white list or referring to a database. This improves over current 3GPP specifications and network vendor implementations that support restriction policies on the source but not on the target.

  • Patent number: 11985507
Abstract: A method of computer authentication of a user request for a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card transfer by a biometric signature from a user equipment (UE) comprising assigning a risk score, by a mobile service provider, to a user account based on user activity in the user account, wherein the user activity includes a SIM card transfer authorization. The mobile service provider then sends a message requesting a biometric signature from an authentication application executing in memory on the UE. The authentication application on the UE then proceeds capturing a biometric signature, encrypting the biometric signature, and sending an encrypted biometric signature to the mobile service provider using a wireless communication protocol. The mobile service provider then compares the biometric signature to an authorized signature and modifies the risk score based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 11985540
Abstract: The technology described herein reduces control-plane overloading by transferring UEs from the overloaded control plane to another available control plane. At a high level, the technology identifies when a control plane is overloaded, identifies other available control planes in a geographic area served by the overloaded control plane, and then identifies UEs for transfer using one or more criteria. Initially, a measure of control-plane performance for a control plane is received. Next, a determination is made that the control plane is overloaded by comparing the measure of control-plane performance to an overload threshold. When an overload condition exists for a control plane, then UEs with existing communication sessions using the control plane are identified for transfer.

  • Patent number: 11985501
Abstract: A Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) gateway serves a non-Third Generation Partnership Project (non-3GPP) user device over a 3GPP N1 link. The gateway receives a transaction request from the non-3GPP user device. The gateway translates the transaction request into a 3GPP request. The gateway transfers the 3GPP request to a 3GPP network and receives an authentication request from the 3GPP network. The gateway generates and transfers an authentication response based on the transaction request and the authentication request to the 3GPP network. In response to the authentication, the gateway establishes the 3GPP N1 link with the 3GPP network for the non-3GPP user device. The gateway exchanges user data with the non-3GPP user device. The gateway interworks the user data and N1 signaling. The gateway exchanges the N1 signaling with the 3GPP network. The 3GPP network interworks the N1 signaling and the user data and exchanges the user data.

  • Patent number: 11983582
Abstract: In a wireless communication network, a wireless network controller authenticates a wireless receiver and transfers receiver instructions and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for wireless network slices to the wireless receiver. An item wirelessly transmits a network identifier (ID) and a product ID. The wireless receiver wirelessly detects the network ID and the product ID from the item at a geographic location. The receiver selects an API for a wireless network slice based on the receiver instructions and the network ID. The receiver transfers an API call to the wireless network slice. The wireless network slice selects a distributed Application (dAPP) based on the network ID, the product ID, and/or the geographic location for the item. The wireless network slice transfers the network ID, the product ID, and the geographic location for the item to selected dAPP.

  • Patent number: 11985517
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves wireless User Equipment (UEs) over producer Network Functions (NFs) and consumer NFs that use Network Repository Function (NRFs). The producer NFs determine their NF identities and status. The producer NFs indicate the NF identities and status to the NRFs. The consumer NFs request NF information from the NRFs. The NRFs indicate the NF identities and status to the consumer NFs. The consumer NFs select NF identities based on the NF status. The consumer NFs exchange network signaling with the producer NFs based on the selected NF identities to serve the wireless UEs. The producer NFs may comprise Charging Functions (CHFs).

  • Patent number: 11979777
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing use of wireless communication technologies for a UE. The method can include determining that the UE has established a first wireless communication link to a first node that can use both a first and a second wireless communication protocol, then determining whether, prior to connecting to the first node, the UE was previously connected to a second node that only utilizes the first wireless communication protocol (e.g., standalone 5G). If the UE was previously connected to the second node and moved to the first node because of fallback or handover procedures, a second communication link is established between the UE and the second node without analyzing single information corresponding to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11974166
Abstract: According to aspects herein, methods and systems for time division duplexing (TDD) management in New Radio (NR) are provided. The method begins with determining if a cell site has heavy uplink use. This can be shown by the cell site using a heavy uplink TDD pattern, which is indicative of users transmitting more data then they receive. Once a cell site has been found to have heavy uplink use, a list of neighboring cell sites is retrieved. The neighboring cell sites may be analyzed to determine if they have heavy downlink use. The method then proceeds to determine if the neighboring cell sites with heavy downlink use can be downlink blanked. Downlink blanking on the neighboring cell sites may then be turned on.

  • Patent number: 11968642
Abstract: A wireless communication network delivers status information for User Equipment (UE) upon request. A network controller exchanges registration signaling with the UE and exchanges authentication signaling for the UE with a Unified Data Management (UDM). The UDM exchanges the authentication signaling with the network controller and responsively transfers a UDM request for the UE status information to the network controller. The network controller determines the UE status information and transfers the UE status information to the UDM in response to the UDM request. The UDM receive the UE status information from the network controller and transfers the UE status information to a Unified Data Repository (UDR). The UDR receives the UE status information from the UDM and receives a status request for the UE from a network element. The UDR responsively transfers the UE status information for the UE to the network element.

  • Patent number: 11962641
Abstract: A method for locally serving content is described. The method includes receiving, at a gateway device, a first request for a data file via a first user device communicatively coupled to the gateway device. The data file is received at the gateway device from an external server and sent to the first user device. A data record is stored to a storage device indicating that the data file has been sent to the first user device. A second request for the data file is later received at the gateway device from a second user device communicatively coupled to the gateway device. In response to the receiving of the second request, the data record is accessed and causes a computer read of the data record. The first user device is then instructed to transfer the data file to the second user device, via the gateway device, based upon the computer read.

  • Patent number: 11963126
Abstract: A wireless communication network deregisters network functions. In the wireless communication, a network data system receives a deregistration command that indicates a wireless User Equipment (UE) and forwards the deregistration command to a Unified Data Management (UDM). The UDM receives the indication and determines a Data Network Name (DNN) for the wireless UE. The UDM identifies a network controller and a session controller for the wireless UE based on the DNN. The UDM transfers deregistration notifications to the network controller and session controller. The UDM receives a deregistration acknowledgement from the network controller. The UDM directs the network data system to remove stored session data for the session controller. The network data system receives the direction from the UDM and responsively removes stored session data for the session controller.

  • Patent number: 11956022
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for improving signal propagation using lasers. A laser device is used to clear the air between a first fixed station, such as a base station, and a second fixed station, such as a fixed wireless access device. In the wake of the laser, particles in the air interface are cleared along a path that can then be used to communicate one or more sets of wireless signals. In the wake of the laser, the wireless signals experience less absorption, reflection, and refraction, reducing path loss, and increasing the overall effectiveness of the wireless system—particularly at or near the cell edge or when a meteorological condition exists between the fixed stations.
